We completed a study about frontline healthcare workers – the benefits they get through work and how they are doing financially. This brief provides highlights from our survey to 2,321 workers and interviews with 30 workers.

When workers left the labor market in large numbers during the COVID-19 pandemic, proclamations of a labor shortage emerged extensively throughout the news. In this study, I analyze the coverage of the worker shortage among three news sources with different political orientations. Several themes emerged from analyzing a total of 75 articles. The findings showed that the perspective shown in the article, the cause of the labor shortage, restaurant worker portrayal, support of solutions, and opinion of the labor shortage all differed based on the political identity of the news source. In 2020, healthcare expenditures averaged $12,530 per person, up 9.7% from 2019. In 2018, 19% of U.S. households had medical debt with $2,000 being the median amount owed. Over half of adults between 18 to 64 years of age are estimated to experience some form of medical financial hardship including medical bills or debt, stress about medical bills, and delaying or forgoing treatment specifically due to cost. In a 2022 survey of 140 Medicaid and Marketplace members by researchers from the Social Policy Institute (SPI) and the Centene Center of Health Transformation, one-third of respondents reported having unpaid medical bills. …

In this paper, we examine the nature and limits of violence by way of a comparison of the physical violence and online violation, in terms of their form, structure and effects. We explore similarities and dissimilarities in what precedes the event, perpetrator intentions and motivations, the forms and types of violence, the medium through which they are delivered, who they are directed towards, the technologies and processes deployed, and their impacts. This study aims to analyze whether or not there is a relationship between competence and organizational performance, as well as motivation to organizational performance at the Department of Highways and Water Resources of the Former City. The population of this research is Civil Servants at the Department of Highways and Water Resources of Bekasi city, totaling 158 people, where all employees are the research sample. Variable measurements were performed using a Likert Scale. The analytical technique used in this research is SEM-LISREL version 8.8. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between competence and motivation on organizational performance.

This qualitative emergent study investigated the identity transformation experiences of enlisted combat student veterans (ECSVs) from warriors into scholars at the University of New Mexico (UNM). ECSVs are a sub-population of the student veteran community who served in military combat jobs and thus underwent a military indoctrination process that inculcated a warrior identity in them.
