Abstract Objectives: This literature review aims to provide a comprehensive overview of recent research on dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs) in regenerative dentistry, addressing their characteristics, importance, isolation techniques, utilization in different dental specialties, and future prospects. Methods: Relevant studies published within the last 20 years were identified through database searches and manual selection. The review synthesizes findings from key research articles, including those investigating DPSC characterization, isolation methods, therapeutic applications, and future uses. Results: Dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs) are mesenchymal stem cells located within dental pulp tissue, exhibiting a high proliferation rate and multilineage differentiation capacity. DPSCs offer …

Abstract: Objectives: To compare facial growth prediction models based on the partial least squares and artificial intelligence (AI) Materials and Methods: Serial longitudinal lateral cephalograms from 33 patients who had not undergone orthodontic treatment but had taken serial cephalograms were collected from Mathews Growth Study located in the American Association of Orthodontists Foundation (AAOF) Growth Legacy Collection. On every image, 46 skeletal and 32 soft- tissue landmarks were identified using CEPPRO. Growth prediction models were built using multivariate Partial Least Squares regression (PLS) and a deep learning method based on the deep neural network incorporating 161 predictors, and 156 responses, …

Objectives: This study aimed to compare 1) treatment time, 2) treatment outcome, and 3) treatment effects in regards to dental and skeletal changes of class II molar correction in growing patients between cases using Invisalign mandibular advancement (MA) and class II elastic simulation jump. Methods: 44 growing patients with Class II malocclusion were included: 17 patients in the class II elastic group and 27 in the Invisalign MA group. Despite advances in dental care and oral hygiene, the prevalence of chronic periodontitis (ChP) remains high at 47.2% in the U.S. ChP not only leads to severe gum bleeding and tooth loss but also contributes to systemic diseases, including diabetes mellitus, adverse pregnancy outcomes, and cardiovascular diseases. The mechanisms of the connection between ChP and systemic health are still not fully understood. In our phase I study, we demonstrated systemic and cell-specific immune dysfunctions in patients with ChP, which can be temporarily reversed by the local treatment of ChP. Caenorhabditis elegans is a nematode that survives naturally in a variety of environments throughout the world. This nematode has been used for decades as a model system for development, cancer and aging, since it shares with humans key genes and signaling pathways that are involved in disease. In addition, this nematode is easy to maintain in the laboratory and is genetically tractable. Objectives: To analyze condylar resorption, remodeling, and positional changes in Surgery First Approach (SFA) patients and assess correlations with cephalometric changes. The null hypothesis is that there are no significant differences in condylar changes between fixed orthodontics and Invisalign therapy post-SFA. Methods: In this retrospective observational longitudinal study, all patients were Class III and underwent SFA with mandibular setback and maxillary advancement. CBCTs were analyzed at initial (T1), post-surgery (T2), and final orthodontic treatment (T3) using 3D landmark identification. Twenty-eight patients received fixed orthodontic appliance treatment, and eighteen received Invisalign treatment. Plant cells produce nanometer-sized vesicles for cellular communication, bioactive molecule transport, and modulation of the plant immune response. Extracellular nanovesicles contain proteins, RNA, and other molecules. It has been demonstrated that plant nanovesicles exert bioactive effects on human cells. Anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, and tissue regenerative properties are significant to dentistry. Other groups have used mechanically disruptive methods to isolate plant nanovesicles. Objective: While many manufacturing methods exist, information lacks regarding 3D printed occlusal splint materials. The purpose of this study is to compare 2 body wear properties of 3D printed splint resins. Two commercially available splint resins and a conventional polypropylene material (control) were subject to wear in a chewing simulator. Methods: The 3D printed resins, KEY (KeyPrint® KeySplint Hard®; Keystone Industries) and VERI (VeriSPLINT OS 3D; WhipMix), were printed according to manufacturing criteria and the polypropylene thermoform, FORM (PRO-FORM; Keystone Industries), was excised from a square sample into 10 mm diameter discs with 5 mm height. General Problem: Can the correlation between salivary statherin concentration and hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) levels provide a more comprehensive assessment of a patient’ s oral health status? Methods & Process: Whole saliva samples were collected from participants. Blood glucose concentration and HbA1c were measured from a small blood sample obtained via a needle stick. Caries risk and gum health was assessed through periodontal pocketing and CariScreen Testing Meters. Salivary statherin concentrations were measured using western blot. Boswellia serrata extract, derived from Boswellia trees prevalent in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, offers multifaceted therapeutic benefits, including anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, and anti-microbial effects. Periodontitis affects 20-50% of the global population, targeting the gingival tissues, supporting structures around teeth, and the alveolar bone. OBJECTIVE: Cleft lip with or without cleft palate (CL±P) is one of the most common and most serious congenital anomalies. The birth prevalence of CL±P (non-syndromic and syndromic) varies from 1 in 500 to 1 in 1000 births. Breastfeeding is recognized as the gold standard of infant nutrition that benefits both mother and infant. Cleft, however, presents a serious obstacle to it. Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is an aggressive cancer with a high mortality rate. Prognostic biomarkers from the tumor immune microenviroment (TIME) are needed to determine treatment plans. We hypothesized that imaging mass cytometry (IMC) would reveal distinct TIME characteristics associated with histopathological grades. A 40-plex IMC, covering markers for tumor structure, multiple immune cells, and their signaling activity, was used to investigate the TIMEs of formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) incisional oral tongue biopsies. P. gingivalis, a prevalent bacteria in the oral cavity of patients with active periodontitis, presents a persistent challenge. Patients often receive root debridement therapy to manage disease progression, however, it merely addresses symptoms without curing or reversing the condition. Therefore, there is a pressing need for more sophisticated therapeutic approaches, such as vaccination, targeting the pathogen directly. Although comprehensive research involving human clinical trials are pending, the aim of this invention is to introduce specific antigens of periodontitis to stimulate the targeted antibodies. Objectives: The objective of this literature review is to explore the current studies on orthodontic pain management amongst various orthodontic treatment approaches (fixed appliances, clear aligner therapy, expansions, temporary skeletal anchorage devices, etc.), and to analyze the efficacy of existing and new interventions for patients experiencing orthodontic pain.
