Investigations Of Cell Tower Antennas Parameters On Reduction Of Radio Frequency Radiation Levels From Radio Base Stations, Florence U. Rashidi
Investigations Of Cell Tower Antennas Parameters On Reduction Of Radio Frequency Radiation Levels From Radio Base Stations, Florence U. Rashidi
Tanzania Journal of Engineering and Technology (TJET)
The widespread deployment of mobile cellular base stations in populated areas has raised public health concerns due to increased exposure to radio frequency (RF) radiation emissions. Exposure to high levels of RF radiation can have potential thermal and non-thermal biological effects. Optimizing the configuration of cell tower antenna parameters is crucial for mitigating these radiation levels. This study therefore aims at systematically investigating the influence of different cell tower antenna parameters on reducing the RF radiation levels from mobile base stations. Field measurements were conducted at two cell sites shared by multiple mobile operators. Electric field strengths were measured at …

Tanzania Journal of Engineering and Technology (TJET)
This paper reports the findings of a study that was conducted in Tanzania to grasp how the policies, plans and curricula at different levels of education accommodate knowledge gathered on energy to support the fostering of energy education. The study interrogated what necessitates the inclusion of energy education into the curricula in Tanzania. Subscribing to a qualitative approach, the study employed a desk research method to review curricula and other documents guiding secondary and university level education in the country. The study found out that heightening people’s consumption of energy for domestic and industrial purposes constituted the main issue that …

Assessing The Importance Of Air-Decking Blasting In Controlling Bigv At An Open Pit Gold Mine In Tanzania Using Ann Model, Karim R. Baruti
Tanzania Journal of Engineering and Technology (TJET)
Air-decking blasting technique is used to control blast induced ground vibration (BIGV) in several mines including open-pit gold mines located in Tanzania. While the importance of air-deck to control BIGV is practically evident, theoretical models such as BIGV prediction models cannot be used to assess the importance of air-decking. The main objective of this study was to assess the importance of the air-decking blasting technique to control BIGV using the artificial neural network (ANN)Model. To achieve this objective, ANNs were modeled and trained to learn the pattern of data using Multilayer Perception with Back Propagation to predict BIGV. The main …

The Effects Of Corporate Culture On Firm Growth: Evidence From Tanzania’S Construction Firms, Fred P. Okangi
Tanzania Journal of Engineering and Technology (TJET)
Corporate culture is one of those important aspects that determine the growth of firms. This study investigates the effects of the different types of corporate culture on the growth of Tanzania’s local construction firms. A survey of 227 Tanzania’s construction firms was undertaken using semi-structured questionnaire. The data collected were quantitatively analysed using Stata 13.0 software. The study results indicate that only the hierarchy type of corporate culture positively and significantly impacts the growth of Tanzania’s construction firms. The other types of corporate culture, such as adhocracy, market, and clan had insignificant effects on the growth of the construction firms …
Perona-Malik Diffusion-Driven Regularization For Image Resolution Enhancement In Electrical Capacitance Tomography, Nassor Ally
Perona-Malik Diffusion-Driven Regularization For Image Resolution Enhancement In Electrical Capacitance Tomography, Nassor Ally
Tanzania Journal of Engineering and Technology (TJET)
Electrical Capacitance Tomography (ECT) is a non-invasive promising method for monitoring industrial processes, such as oil-gas flow in pipelines and solid-gas flow in pneumatic systems. Despite its potential benefits, ECT generates poor-quality images, often used only for qualitative analysis. A non-linear relationship between measured capacitances and permittivity distribution and the ill-posedness of the sensitivity matrix elements causes this limitation. This hinders the applicability of ECT in monitoring online industrial process applications. This work proposes a reconstruction method based on a nonlinear diffusion function to generate high-quality images from the measured capacitance data from the ECT system. The diffusion regularization functional …

In the image fusion stage, the energy function of seam cutting method is designed by using the color difference and gradient difference of tanh measure and introducing …

Research On Path Optimization Algorithm In Dynamic Routing Environment, Xin Xie, Xiaobing Hu, Hang Zhou
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: In a real dynamic routing environment, static path optimization (SPO) and traditional dynamic path optimization (DPO) tend to encounter issues such as detours, reversals and high computational complexity due to frequent real-time optimization calculation. To address these problems, a novel restart co-evolutionary path optimization (RCEPO) method based on the ripple-spreading algorithm (RSA) is proposed. This method integrates the path optimization process with the dynamic changes of the routing network environment to enhance the effectiveness of path optimization. Moreover, the path reoptimization calculation is performed only when the dynamic changes in the routing environment exceed the predicted range, thereby reducing …

Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: High-resolution image reconstruction of interest region is one of the research hotspots of electrical capacitance tomography (ECT) technology. The ECT model with uniform electrode distribution only has a high sensitivity coefficient at the boundary position of the reconstructed field and is not suitable for imaging regions of interest. In order to improve the sensitivity distribution in the region of interest and improve image resolution, a high-resolution image reconstruction method of ECT region of interest based on finite element simulation is proposed, and the electrode distribution is optimized according to the conformal transformation theory. Simulation experiments are conducted, and the …

Fusion Of Improved A* And Dynamic Window Approach For Mobile Robot Path Planning, Rongshen Lai, Lei Dou, Zhiyong Wu, Shuai Sun
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: The traditional A* algorithm is computationally simple and has short planning paths, but it still suffers from redundancy of inflection points, low search efficiency and zigzagging planning paths. Aiming at the above problems, a fusion algorithm combining the improved A* algorithm and the improved dynamic window approach is proposed for the path planning of mobile robots. For the problem of redundant inflection points, the key nodes are extracted to effectively remove the useless inflection points; for the problem of low search efficiency, a dynamic weighting factor is introduced into the heuristic function of the evaluation function, which changes the …

A Method Based On Deep Learning For Assisting Sins/Dvl Integrated Navigation, Xinghong Kuang, Aowei Huang
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: The navigation and positioning accuracy of an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) affects the efficiency of the AUV to a certain extent, and since GNSS cannot be used underwater, the integrated navigation system of Strapdown Inertial Navigation System/ Doppler Velocity Log (SINS/DVL) has been widely favored. However, DVL will fail in some cases, and if DVL is isolated directly, the system will become a pure inertial navigation system, which seriously affects the accuracy of navigation and positioning. In order to cope with the situation that DVL is missing in some beams, a DLinear-Informer assisted integrated navigation algorithm is proposed. Through …

Faculty Publications
This paper presents experimental investigations on buried Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) pipes with a diameter of 1400 mm. The tested pipes were buried in dense, gravelly sand and subjected to traffic loads to study the effects of backfill cover on pipe deflection. The experimental program included tests on three GRP pipes with backfill covers of 100 cm, 75 cm, and 50 cm. The maximum traffic loads applied to the pipe–soil system corresponded to Iraqi Truck Type 3 (AASHTO Htype). Vertical deflections of the pipes were monitored during the application of these loads. The experimental results showed that, as the backfill …
