Problem definition: Normal operations of a power system require that alternating current frequency be maintained at a nominal value, for example, 50 Hz, whereas severe deviation from this value due to power deficiencies can cause cascading generator trips. Maintaining the frequency requires adequate inertia and frequency regulation reserve, which are primarily provided by online generators. In daily operations, generators due for preventive maintenance must be taken offline, and thus an improper maintenance schedule could jeopardize frequency security, as exemplified by the recent Texas power blackout. Research Aims: This study reframes the growth challenge of Indonesia’s Islamic banking as a financial-service marketing problem: strengthening customer adoption, trust, and perceived value to expand market penetration in a dual-banking environment while maintaining resilience.

Design/Methodology/Approach: Using a system dynamics perspective, the study develops a causal loop diagram (CLD) grounded in a review of policy-document and prior empirical marketing/Islamic banking literature. A multi-actor lens is applied to map how regulators, government, customers, conventional banks, fintech, and ESG investors shape adoption and competitive dynamics.

This project develops and evaluates a predictive modeling framework for forecasting distribution center capacity utilization at Company Y, with monthly forecast horizons up to one year. Manufacturers adopt different warranty strategies for remanufactured products, offering shorter, identical, or longer warranty periods compared to new products. However, prior research has only focused on manufacturers offering either shorter or identical warranties. In addition, the existing literature has not captured the diminishing returns of warranties, i.e., as the warranty coverage increases, its incremental benefits begin to decrease but the costs continue to increase. To address these gaps, we develop an optimization model that jointly considers pricing and warranty decisions while accounting for warranty’s diminishing effect on consumer’s willingness to pay for remanufactured products. We study a multi-period joint capacity allocation and job assignment problem. The goal is to simultaneously allocate resources across J different supply nodes and assign jobs from I different demand origins to these J supply nodes, so as to maximize the reward for matching or minimize the cost of failure to match. We consider three features: (i) supply is replenishable after some random time, (ii) demand is random, and (iii) demand can wait and needs not be fully fulfilled immediately. This study sheds light on the transformative impact of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) on national productivity via logistics performance. By distinguishing between mobile and wired Internet speeds, the research demonstrates how these technologies influence logistics performance and, in turn, national productivity across different economic contexts. The findings reveal a nuanced relationship between ICT and logistics performance, with mobile ICT playing a more significant role in developing countries due to its accessibility and cost-effectiveness. Bridging Mission And Execution: Integrating Participatory Design In Early-Phase Mission Engineering For Stakeholder Alignment And Mission Clarity, Rafi Soule

This research examines mission framing during the early phase of Mission Engineering. Stakeholder interpretations diverge under ambiguity. Interoperability constraints are often not surfaced early. These conditions reduce mission clarity and weaken mission-to-system mapping readiness. The study integrates a participatory design-inspired, artifact-first workflow with RAG-enabled retrieval from a closed corpus to support evidence-grounded reasoning and traceable citations.

Phase 1 uses an online survey to establish baseline patterns in practice (N = 86). Shared understanding is positively associated with mission clarity (r = 0.60, p < 0.001). Phase 2 uses a time-bounded comparative workshop with two conditions. Expert reviewers rate mission statement quality higher for the participatory design condition (mean 3.5) than the traditional condition (mean 2.8). Technical feasibility ratings are similar across conditions. Phase 3 demonstrates RAG-enabled, closed-corpus, retrieval-supported traceability using the Referencer tool. Although price differentiation helps capture unique market characteristics, it also encourages parallel trade, which may affect the overall corporate performance of a global company. This study introduces a novel approximation model that integrates the ideologies of order statistics and max-plus algebra in representing the collection and distribution service schemes of a last-mile delivery system. The Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) relies on efficient logistics to sustain readiness. At King Abdulaziz Air Base, warehouse receiving inefficiencies caused delays and waste. This study used Lean principles and a six-month time–motion analysis, with Pareto and Fishbone tools, to identify 55% waste in dead pile and 75% in palletized shipments. Standard times of 5.98 and 6.55 minutes were set. Key recommendations include SOPs, cross-training, forklift certification, layout redesign, and RFID. Lean adoption could save 100+ labor hours and $4,000 annually, improving safety, accuracy, and mission readiness.

To support the rapid growth in global electric vehicle adoption, public charging of electric vehicles is crucial. We study the problem of an electric vehicle charging service provider, which faces (1) stochastic arrival of customers with distinctive arrival and departure times, and energy requirements as well as (2) a total electricity cost including demand charges, costs related to the highest per-period electricity used in a finite horizon. We formulate its problem of scheduling vehicle charging to minimize the expected total cost as a stochastic program (SP). In this study, we investigate an appointment sequencing and scheduling problem with heterogeneous user delay tolerances under service-time uncertainty. We aim to capture the delay-tolerance effect with heterogeneity, in an operationally effective and computationally tractable fashion, for the appointment scheduling problem. To this end, we first propose a Tolerance-Aware Delay (TAD) index that incorporates explicitly the user-tolerance information in delay evaluation. We show that the TAD index enjoys decision-theoretical rationale in terms of Tolerance Sensitivity, Monotonicity, Convexity and Positive Homogeneity, which enables it to incorporate the frequency and intensity of delays over the tolerance in a coherent manner. The fulfillment process for Buy Online Pickup from Store grocery orders (BOPS-Grocery) is particularly challenging, given the large item count per order and the low-profit margins. This research investigates the BOPS-Grocery model and pursues the following objectives: (i) Defining and specifying the BOPS-Grocery fulfillment process. Differentiating the process from classical warehouse order picking., identifying performance objectives, and characterizing design options and facility layout.
