The warehousing industry in New Jersey remains a vital component of the region's logistics network, employing more than 200,000 workers who routinely engage in lifting, bending, overhead reaching, and other physically demanding activities. These exposures contribute to musculoskeletal disorder (MSD) rates that exceed national averages, particularly affecting the low back and shoulders. Nationally, MSDs account for an estimated $420 billion in combined direct and indirect costs each year, underscoring the need for interventions that can effectively reduce biomechanical strain. This study focused on optimizing gas metal arc welding (GMAW) parameters for AISI 1045 carbon steel to balance the ultimate tensile strength (UTS) and heat affected zone (HAZ) size of the weldment. Using a full factorial design of experiments (27 trials), the influence of welding current, arc voltage, and travel speed on UTS and HAZ size of AISI 1045 carbon steel weldments were investigated. From the analysis of results, using Analysis of variance (ANOVA) technique, the results revealed that current, travel speed and arc voltage contributed 74.41%, 19.05% and 0.04%, respectively, to the total percentage of variations on UTS data. …

Measurements of on-line tool wear and part dimensional accuracy in machining operations are not readily available in machining shop floor because they involve higher investment such that the decisions of tool wear and part quality for intermediate cutting passes cannot be justified. This paper demonstrates how the optimisation of machining parameters can be made together with tool wear and part quality for turning operations. The car wash sector in Tanzania is expected to expand in the next few years, since the trend of imported cars is increasing. This study provides a comprehensive techno-economic analysis of the barriers, opportunities, and feasibility of adopting captive solar photovoltaic (PV) systems in Tanzania’s industrial manufacturing sector. Despite Tanzania’s high solar irradiation potential, averaging 4.5 to 7.0 kWh/m²/day, the uptake of captive solar systems remains minimal, with only 2.3 percent of surveyed firms currently using solar energy, primarily for non-productive uses such as security lighting. Using a mixed-methods approach, data were collected from 43 manufacturing firms in the Dar es Salaam and Pwani regions through structured questionnaires, supported by PVSyst simulations and financial modelling to assess two system configurations: grid-connected PV systems …

The article examines modern approaches to modernizing vegetable oil refining processes from the perspective of increasing energy efficiency, environmental friendliness, and final product quality. Traditional and innovative technologies are analyzed, with a focus on the implementation of membrane filtration, automated control systems, heat exchange complexes, and renewable energy sources. It has been shown that the use of intelligent control systems, high-precision membrane filters, and heat regeneration allows for a 25% reduction in energy consumption, a 20% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, and a significant improvement in acidity, color, and impurity content in the product. This article proposes a comprehensive approach to training process operators, based on computer simulators integrated with digital twins, SCADA/DCS systems, real production data, and artificial intelligence algorithms. This approach is particularly relevant given the increased requirements for safety, productivity, and reliability of industrial facilities, as human factors are often the main cause of accidents (up to 60-80% of cases). The article examines the problems and prospects of creating discrete fiber-optic liquid level gauges. Functional diagrams of single-channel and multi-channel discrete fiber-optic liquid level meters are presented. Examining the challenges of keeping this system running continuously reveals that sustaining its required reliability necessitates replacing malfunctioning measurement systems with operational ones. Investigations into differential equation models demonstrate that system recovery and failure events occur independently and follow a Poisson distribution pattern.

This paper presents a Fuzzy-SPT (Fuzzy Set-Point Tracking) controller designed to combine the strengths of FLC (Fuzzy Logic Control) and PID (Proportional-Integral-Derivative) control while mitigating their limitations across varying operating conditions. Inspired by state-dependent reasoning but implemented within a single controller, the method uses internal logic to adapt the control effort across different operating regions. FLC handles rapid changes and nonlinear transients, enabling fast system response without overshoot, while PID-like integral action is activated when the FLC reaches steady state or enters a threshold region near the set point, eliminating residual errors and maintaining stable performance. This article examines the problem of detecting and predicting industrial equipment faults using IoT sensor data through machine learning techniques. Sensor readings such as temperature, vibration, pressure, voltage, and current, as well as FFT-based features, were statistically analyzed. Class imbalance and low signal informativeness were identified as key factors limiting model accuracy. Results obtained from Logistic Regression, Random Forest, and XGBoost models were comparatively evaluated, showing that when ROC-AUC values remain around 0.5, distinguishing fault and non-fault states becomes challenging. Abstract: The impact of various random disturbances in the actual command and control environment of unmanned systems on problem modeling and solving of weapon target assignment was considered, and three types of uncertainty disturbance constraints were investigated. A multi-objective dynamic sensor weapon target assignment model was established. Abstract: To address the high consumption of computational resources in simulating ship liquid tank sloshing using computational fluid dynamics simulation methods, a data-driven numerical simulation model was proposed based on graph neural networks. An encoder-processor-decoder framework was employed in the proposed model. The encoder extracted features of fluid particles from the first five time steps. The processor learnt latent motion patterns of fluid and updated features, and the decoder predicted features of particles at subsequent time steps. Abstract: To improve the order picking and sorting collaboration with time windows in the "goods-to-person" system, a mathematical model aiming to minimize the number of sorting batches was established. With the characteristics of this issue considered, a hybrid variable neighborhood search (HVNS) algorithm based on the "classified loading" strategy was proposed for solutions. Abstract: In order to solve the problem that existing infrared and visible light image fusion techniques often suffer from artifacts caused by insufficient contrast, spectral distortion, and high computational complexity, a fusion framework based on ResNet-50 and Laplacian filtering was proposed. ResNet-50 was used to extract shallow and deep features, followed by multi-scale feature fusion. Semi-global decomposition algorithm was adopted to invert the thermophysical properties of the scenario based on the physical model of thermal radiation, simulating and generating full-band hyperspectral data. Abstract: To address the theoretical challenges of exploration and exploitation trade-offs and uncertainty modeling in multi-objective reinforcement learning (MORL), this study developed a learning framework, MO-PAC, based on PAC-Bayes theory. By introducing a multi-objective stochastic Critic network and a dynamic preference mechanism, the framework extended the conventional A2C architecture, enabling adaptive and efficient approximation of complex Pareto fronts. Experimental results demonstrate that in multi-objective MuJoCo environments, MO-PAC outperforms baseline algorithms, achieving approximately 20% improvement in hypervolume and 60% increase in expected utility, while exhibiting superior convergence efficiency and robustness.
