Increasing threats to U.S. national security satellite constellations have resulted in an increased interest in constellation resilience and satellite redundancy. NanoSats have contributed to commercial, scientific and government applications in remote sensing, communications, navigation, and research. They also have the potential to enhance satellite constellation resilience. However, the inherent size, weight, and power limitations of NanoSats enforce constraints on imaging hardware; the small lenses and short focal lengths result in imagery with low spatial resolution, which limits the utility of CubeSat images for military planning purposes and national intelligence applications. This dissertation provides a comprehensive analysis of climate resilience strategies tailored to SIDS, addressing critical systemic issues and exploring interdisciplinary solutions. Majority of over 617,000 bridges across the United States are significantly impacted by environmental factors, aging materials, and heavy traffic loads. According to the 2021 Infrastructure Report, nearly 231,000 bridges require repair or preservation work, with 46,154 (7.5%) being classified as structurally deficient, thereby posing risks for mor than 178 million daily trips across these bridges. Despite recent improvements, 42% of U.S. bridges are at least 50 years old, underscoring an urgent need for increased investment to meet repair demands. Hybrid work, cloud adoption, and freely available AI‑enabled attack tools have exposed critical weaknesses in perimeter‑centric security. One of the most promising uses of aerial applications by a sUAS is on small farms where traditional crewed aerial applicators were not practical due to the limited size of the operations. This controlled field test aimed to assess the feasibility and cost-effectiveness of using a sUAS spreading system compared to the traditional manual application of weed killer and fertilizer on cranberry bogs in Western Washington that were less than 10 acres. Data-dependence analysis can identify causally-unordered events in a pending event set. The execution of these events is independent from all other scheduled events, making them ready for execution. These events can be executed out of order or in parallel. This approach may find and utilize more parallelism than spatial-decomposition parallelization methods, which are limited by the number of subdomains and by synchronization methods. This work provides formal definitions that use data-dependence analysis to find causally-unordered events and uses these definitions to measure parallelism in several discrete-event simulation models. An asymptotic state variable observer is proposed for a continuous-time bilinear dynamical system with the distinguishing feature that the error dynamics are globally asymptotically stable and independent of the applied input. Only the speed of convergence of the error dynamics may be input dependent. The approach is to apply classical Lyapunov stability theory using a convex optimization algorithm and linear matrix inequality (LMI) tools to in effect isolate the stability property of the error dynamics from the input. The LMIs are used to turn the nonconvex problem into a convex problem. The method is demonstrated on an induction motor drive.

This study employs Vensim modelling to project PM2.5 pollution trends through 2040, analysing the dynamic interplay among major contributors: increased vehicular emissions, industrial activities, public transportation deficiencies, and waste management inefficiencies. RBI and TBI strategies are comparatively reviewed in terms of their contribution to maintaining asset integrity for asset owners in the hydrocarbon and chemical industries. The objective is to assess various methods on a cost-efficient and risk-managed operational safety basis. It utilizes common industry standards such as API 580 for RBI, and API 510, API 570, and API 653 for TBI, and also case studies and literature analysis. The government of Indonesia has launched programs to decarbonize its power systems by replacing fossil fuel-based plants with renewable energy. Solar photovoltaic (PV) deployment faces economic and technical barriers despite abundant solar irradiance. This study evaluates techno-economic strategies for 10 MW grid-connected solar PV systems, comparing two scenarios: without Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and with BESS to reduce grid reliance. Key interventions were analyzed for their economic impacts, including tariff adjustments, carbon tax implementation, and competitive auction schemes. The results show that without BESS, the project achieves an Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 21.30%, making it highly feasible. …

Abstract: To solve the problem of increased computation and communication costs caused by using homomorphic encryption (HE) to protect all gradients in traditional cryptographic aggregation (cryptoaggregation) schemes, a fast crypto-aggregation scheme called RandomCrypt was proposed. RandomCrypt performed clipping and quantization to fix the range of gradient values and then added two types of noise on the gradient for encryption and differential privacy (DP) protection. Abstract: A threat assessment method based on priori information and dynamic observation results is studied for the existence of dynamic uncertainty in complex war systems. The data mining is applied to obtain prior knowledge on the battlefield situation and construct an equipment-related confidence matrix. Abstract: Concurrent processing makes the wafer fabrication process prone to deadlocks and completion node ambiguity. A Petri net model is established to describe the system operation process by taking for the single-arm cluster tools for fully parallel processing of two wafer types as the research object, and a control strategy is developed to avoid the system deadlock. Abstract: To address issues such as image distortion and style uniformity in existing anime style transfer networks within the field of image simulation, we propose the TGFE-TrebleStyleGAN (textguided facial editing with TrebleStyleGAN) for anime facial style transfer and editing. This framework leverages vector guidance within the latent space to generate facial imagery and incorporates a detail control module and a feature control module to constrain the aesthetic attributes of the generated images. The images generated by the transfer network serve as style control signals and constraints for fine-grained segmentation. Abstract: A multi-objective gait optimization method based on virtual prototype is proposed to address the difficulty of balancing personalisation and performance in gait planning for bipedal robots. A scale prototype of a planar underactuated biped robot is created according to the body structure of Chinese people, and an identification approach is used to determine the robot's exact inertial parameters. Abstract: Trams need to brake frequently due to signal control and safety speed limits at intersections. Due to the inaccuracy of distance judgment, tram drivers tend to reserve extra braking distance at intersections, resulting in lower braking coefficients and a decrease in speed. An intersection braking guidance method using lineside signs is proposed for trams to reduce braking distance redundancy and improve running speed. Abstract: To address the poor performance of commonly used intelligent optimization algorithms in solving location problems—specifically regarding effectiveness, efficiency, and stability—this study proposes a novel location allocation method for the delivery sites to deliver daily necessities during epidemic quarantines. After establishing the optimization objectives and constraints, we developed a relevant mathematical model based on the collected data and utilized traditional intelligent optimization algorithms to obtain Pareto optimal solutions.
