An Sdn-Coordinated Multipath Transmission Steering Framework, Kiattikun Kawila
An Sdn-Coordinated Multipath Transmission Steering Framework, Kiattikun Kawila
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Data transfer is a primary mechanism that can directly affect the overall performance of Big Data analytic systems. This is because most data are generated from several locations. It has been challenging to collect and transfer data among multiple storage regions. Using the traditional single-path transfer approaches is not efficient to serve several requirements of Big Data applications. In this dissertation, we propose an SDN-coordinated multipath transmission steering framework for Big Data transfer application. Multipath TCP protocol (MPTCP) and SDN architecture are mainly considered to design and develop our multipath transmission framework. To provide a practical routing solution, we propose …
Incorporating Context Into Non-Autoregressive Model Using Contextualized Ctc For Sequence Labelling, Burin Naowarat
Incorporating Context Into Non-Autoregressive Model Using Contextualized Ctc For Sequence Labelling, Burin Naowarat
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Connectionist Temporal Classification (CTC) loss has become widely used in sequence modeling tasks such as Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) and Handwritten Text Recognition (HTR) due to its ease of use. CTC itself has no architecture constraints, but it is commonly used with recurrent models that predict letters based on histories in order to relax the conditional independent assumption. However, recent sequence models that incorporate CTC loss have been focusing on speed by removing recurrent structures, hence losing important context information. This thesis presents Contextualized Connectionist Temporal Classification (CCTC) loss, which induces prediction dependencies in non-recurrent and non-autoregressive neural networks for …
A Rationale-Based Lifelong Learning Framework With Pseudo-Sample Replay Enhancement, Kasidis Kanwatchara
A Rationale-Based Lifelong Learning Framework With Pseudo-Sample Replay Enhancement, Kasidis Kanwatchara
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Lifelong learning (LL) is a machine learning paradigm in which a learner is sequentially trained on a stream of new tasks while preventing learned knowledge from being forgotten. To achieve lifelong language learning, pseudo-rehearsal methods leverage samples generated from a language model to refresh the knowledge of previously learned tasks. Without proper controls, however, these methods could fail to retain the knowledge of complex tasks with longer texts since most of the generated samples are low in quality. To overcome the problem, we propose three specific contributions. First, we utilize double language models, each of which specializes on a specific …
Data Augmentation For Thai Natural Language Processing Using Different Tokenization, Patawee Prakrankamanant
Data Augmentation For Thai Natural Language Processing Using Different Tokenization, Patawee Prakrankamanant
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Tokenization is one of the most important data pre-processing steps in the text classification task and also one of the main contributing factors in the model performance. However, getting good tokenizations is non-trivial when the input is noisy, and is especially problematic for languages without an explicit word delimiter such as Thai. Therefore, we proposed an alternative data augmentation method to improve the robustness of poor tokenization by using multiple tokenizations. We evaluated the performance of our algorithms on different Thai text classification datasets. The results suggested our augmentation scheme makes the model more robust to tokenization errors and can …

Performance Improvement Of Cms Simulation Via Loop Transformation, Teerit Ploensin
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
High performance processor can tackle bottleneck issues by increasing vector lengths and leveling effectiveness of memory hierarchies to address these issue. Manual optimization of code is a difficult task when having multiple architecturedependent transformation. Our goal is to develop a tool that performs source code transformation based on loop optimization techniques, since a loop plays an important role in improving of performance in scientific simulation software. We implement an source-to-source transformation tool based libTooling, a Clang’s library, based on polyhedral model to simplify a loop transformation of CMSSW building pipeline. The tool also can be used for automatically transformation. The …

A General Framework For Characterizing And Evaluating Attacker Models For Cps Security Assessment, Christopher S. Deloglos, Christopher Deloglos
Theses and Dissertations
Characterizing the attacker’s perspective is essential to assessing the security posture and resilience of cyber-physical systems. The attacker’s perspective is most often achieved by cyber-security experts (e.g., red teams) who critically challenge and analyze the system from an adversarial stance. Unfortunately, the knowledge and experience of cyber-security experts can be inconsistent leading to situations where there are gaps in the security assessment of a given system. Structured security review processes (such as TAM, Mission Aware, STPA-SEC, and STPA-SafeSec) attempt to standardize the review processes to impart consistency across an organization or application domain. However, with most security review processes, the …

Theses and Dissertations
Sensor fusion and tracking is the ability to bring together measurements from multiple sensors of the current and past time to estimate the current state of a system. The resulting state estimate is more accurate compared with the direct sensor measurement because it balances between the state prediction based on the assumed motion model and the noisy sensor measurement. Systems can then use the information provided by the sensor fusion and tracking process to support more-intelligent actions and achieve autonomy in a system like an autonomous vehicle. In the past, widely used sensor data are structured, which can be directly …

Risk-Averse Optimal Bidding Strategy For A Wind Energy Portfolio Managerincluding Ev Parking Lots For Imbalance Mitigation, Alper Çi̇çek, Ozan Erdi̇nç
Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences
In this study, an optimal bidding strategy for a wind energy portfolio manager (WEPM) including electricvehicle parking lots (EVPLs) that aims to maximize profits by trading in the day-ahead (DA) market and balancingmarket (BM) and through bilateral contracts, taking into account line capacities and risk management is proposed. Thementioned structure is modeled in mixed integer linear programming (MILP) framework, and the uncertainties regardingelectric vehicle (EV) behavior, electricity market data, wind power generation are captured via a stochastic approach. Todemonstrate the effectiveness of the model, several case studies are carried out considering Sweden and Turkey electricitymarket prices with different risk aversion …

A New Hybrid Genetic Algorithm For Protein Structure Prediction On The 2dtriangular Lattice, Bouroubi Sadek, Nabil Boumedine
Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences
The flawless functioning of the protein is essentially related to its three-dimensional structure. Therefore, predicting protein structure from its amino acid sequence is a fundamental problem that draws researchers' attentionin many areas. The protein structure prediction problem (PSP) can be formulated as a combinatorial optimization problem based on simplified lattice models such as the hydrophobic-polar model. In this paper, we propose a new hybridalgorithm that combines three different known heuristic algorithms: the genetic algorithm, the tabu search strategy, and the local search algorithm to solve the PSP problem. Regarding the evaluation of the proposed approach, wepresent an experimental study, where we consider …

Efficient Hybrid Passive Method For The Detection And Localization Of Copy-Moveand Spliced Images, Navneet Kaur, Neeru Jindal, Kulbir Singh
Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences
Digital passive image forgery methods are extensively used to verify the authenticity and integrity of images.Splicing and copy-move are the most common types of passive digital image forgeries. Several approaches have beenproposed to detect these forgeries separately, but very few approaches are available that can detect them simultaneously. However, a more e?icient method is still in demand to meet the day-to-day challenges to detect these forgeries at thesame time. So, a passive hybrid approach based on discrete fractional cosine transform (DFrCT) and local binarypattern (LBP) is proposed to detect copy-move and splicing forgeries simultaneously. The extra parameter i.e. fractionalparameter of DFrCT …

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences
The electrical power extracted from a wind energy conversion system (WECS) tends to be inconsistentdue to the intermittent nature of the wind. This issue is addressed by formulating a maximum power point tracking(MPPT) control strategy that optimizes the power extraction from the WECS under a wide range of wind speed profiles. This research article focuses on the formulation of a nonlinear neuro-adaptive backstepping integral sliding mode control(NABISMC) based MPPT strategy for a standalone, variable speed, fixed-pitch WECS equipped with a permanentmagnet synchronous generator (PMSG). The proposed paradigm is a hybrid of the conventional backstepping andthe integral sliding mode control (ISMC) based …

Brain tumors have been one of the most common life-threatening diseases for all mankind. There have beenhuge efforts dedicated to the development of medical imaging techniques and radiomics to diagnose tumor patients quicklyand e?iciently. One of the main aims is to ensure that preoperative overall survival time (OS) prediction is accurate.Recently, deep learning (DL) algorithms, and particularly convolutional neural networks (CNNs) achieved promisingperformances in almost all computer vision fields. CNNs demand large training datasets and high computational costs. However, curating large annotated medical datasets are difficult and resource-intensive. The performances of singlelearners are also unsatisfactory for small datasets. Thus, this study …

Image hashing is one of the most celebrated techniques regarding the discipline of image forensics, imageretrieval, image indexing, content verification, and zero watermarking. For such sensitive and complex problems, generation of a unique and robust image hash is an utmost prerequisite for an image identifier driven from the perceptualcontents of an image. As a design perspective, it is essential for an image hash to have robustness and optimizeddiscriminative capability. We propose a robust image hashing technique by acquiring perceptual features based on anovel distance magnitude profile utilizing color pixel incongruity among the contiguous pixels, as well as producing astructural image for …

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences
In this paper, a low communication parallel distributed adaptive signal processing (LC-PDASP) architecturefor a group of computationally incapable and inexpensive small platforms is introduced. The proposed architectureis capable of running computationally high adaptive filtering algorithms parallely with minimally low communicationoverhead. A recursive least square (RLS) adaptive algorithm based on the application of multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO) channel estimation is implemented on the proposed LC-PDASP architecture. Complexity and Communicationburden of proposed LC-PDASP architecture are compared with that of conventional PDASP architecture. The compar-ative analysis shows that the proposed LC-PDASP architecture exhibits low computational complexity and provides animprovement more than of85%reduced communication burden than …

Turkish accelerator and radiation laboratory (TARLA) is an accelerator based oscillator mode free electronlaser (FEL) facility under construction. The acceleration beamline includes a fundamental buncher (FB) in order to confine the electron beam into a compressed bunch. In this study, we demonstrate the commissioning tests of 500 W RF amplifier powering FB and present the phase stability dependence on the pressure and temperature of the water cooling line under long time run conditions. As the disturbing effects break down the synchronization between the particle and RF power during acceleration, the reasons disquieting the stability of the RF amplifier are investigated. One …

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences
Techniques of direct torque control (DTC) are very common in high-performance electric motor drives.Retaining the good features of the conventional DTC and reducing torque ripple have been the subject of many years ofresearch work on improving these algorithms. This paper presents the DTC algorithm with discretized voltage vectorsbased on the use of conventional switching table (ST-DTC). This algorithm enables a significant torque ripple reductionby defining the corresponding number of the given voltage intensity while retaining calculation simplicity and fast torqueresponse typical of the ST-DTC algorithms. The proposed algorithm has the ability for its automatic modificationdepending on the defined number of …

The wireless sensor networks (WSN) are comprised of hundreds to thousands of compact and battery-operated sensor nodes. The deployed sensor nodes are widely used to sense the physical changes in the environment, which collect, aggregate, and transmit the information as data packets or static sink or monitoring station. Thedata transmission is very challenging under some extreme environments and applications. The efficient way of datatransmission is achieved by designing an energy-efficient routing protocol. The position of the sink nodes is broadcasted periodically to all other sensor nodes to forward the sensed data to the monitoring system or sink. The frequentbroadcasting of the …
