Personalized Game Recommendation Method Based On Implicit Feedback, Sha Jing, Gongli Zeng, Yang Yang, Wei Yao
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: Traditional recommendation systems often use explicit feedback for personalized recommendations. But the explicit feedback data is not easy to obtain, and the quality is poor, and the recommendation results unable to meet the requitrment of the user. Implicit feedback data is easier to obtain and can provide users with the better content. A personalized game recommendation method based on implicit feedback data is proposed. The method builds an implicit feedback recommendation model for game user data based on implicit feedback data such as the game duration and game numbers. A personalized recommendation of the game is implemented through an …

Compensation Sliding Cross Coupling Control Research Of Cartesian Coordinate Robot, Wang Wei, Zhimei Chen, Zhenyan Wang
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: For a typical Cartesian coordinate robot controls precision is low, based on a single-axis mathematical model, a contour error model for a typical robot whose axes are orthogonal to each other is established. An improved double-power approach law is used to design a terminal sliding mode controller to improve the robot. The integral compensation terms are added to stably compensate the position accuracy of each axis to improve the overall trajectory tracking accuracy, and the cross-coupling control between the axes is used to eliminate the contour error between the axes. It not only weakens the chattering of traditional sliding …

Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: Aiming at the difficulties in modeling due to variables coupling of ultra-supercritical coal-fired power unit and defects in basic particle swarm optimization, an improved particle swarm optimization algorithm for modeling of load system is proposed. The algorithm introduces the idea of adaptive, Cauchy mutation and gradient guidance crossover, which improves the problems of particle swarm optimization algorithm being prone to premature convergence and has the poor local searching ability. By collecting the actual operation data of the power plant, using the adaptive Cauchy mutation and gradient guidance cross particle swarm optimization (GMGPSO) algorithm, the model established and validated …

The field data is analyzed and the least square polynomial method is used to fit the missile velocity-time curve. Particle Swarm Optimization Least Square Support Vector Machine (PSO-LSSVM) is used to model. The verified and validated show the model has high credibility and …

Visible-To-Thermal Transfer Learning For Facial Landmark Detection, Domenick D. Poster, Shuowen Hu, Nathan J. Short, Benjamin S. Riggan, Nasser M. Nasrabadi
Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering: Faculty Publications
There has been increasing interest in face recognition in the thermal infrared spectrum. A critical step in this process is face landmark detection. However, landmark detection in the thermal spectrum presents a unique set of challenges compared to in the visible spectrum: inherently lower spatial resolution due to longer wavelength, differences in phenomenology, and limited availability of labeled thermal face imagery for algorithm development and training. Thermal infrared imaging does have the advantage of being able to passively acquire facial heat signatures without the need for active or ambient illumination in low light and nighttime environments. In such scenarios, thermal …

Standalone execution of problem-solving Artificial Intelligence (AI) on IoT devices produces a higher level of autonomy and privacy. This is because the sensitive user data collected by the devices need not be transmitted to the cloud for inference. The chipsets used to design IoT devices are resource-constrained due to their limited memory footprint, fewer computation cores, and low clock speeds. These limitations constrain one from deploying and executing complex problem-solving AI (usually an ML model) on IoT devices. Since there is a high potential for building intelligent IoT devices, in this tutorial, we teach researchers and developers; (i) How to …

Our aim in this article is to present a comprehensive review of research directly in, or relevant to, assistive outdoor navigation for BVIP. We breakdown the navigation area into a series of navigation phases and tasks. We …
Lecture 08: Partial Eigen Decomposition Of Large Symmetric Matrices Via Thick-Restart Lanczos With Explicit External Deflation And Its Communication-Avoiding Variant, Zhaojun Bai
Mathematical Sciences Spring Lecture Series
There are continual and compelling needs for computing many eigenpairs of very large Hermitian matrix in physical simulations and data analysis. Though the Lanczos method is effective for computing a few eigenvalues, it can be expensive for computing a large number of eigenvalues. To improve the performance of the Lanczos method, in this talk, we will present a combination of explicit external deflation (EED) with an s-step variant of thick-restart Lanczos (s-step TRLan). The s-step Lanczos method can achieve an order of s reduction in data movement while the EED enables to compute eigenpairs in batches along with a number …

This paper presents a low-cost and high-quality; hardware-oriented; two-dimensional discrete cosine transform (2-D DCT) signal analyzer for image and video encoders. In order to reduce memory requirement and improve image quality; a novel Loeffler DCT based on a coordinate rotation digital computer (CORDIC) technique is proposed. In addition; the proposed algorithm is realized by a recursive CORDIC architecture instead of an unfolded CORDIC architecture with approximated scale factors. In the proposed design; a fully pipelined architecture is developed to efficiently increase operating frequency and throughput; and scale factors are implemented by using four hardware-sharing machines for complexity reduction. Thus; the …

COVID-19 and the resulting quarantine affected many people over the past year, impacting many people’s mental health. To make matters even worse, those most in need of assistance with managing their mental health are often the ones with least access to support. These populations would benefit from a way in which to express themselves and practice self-care that is accessible and enjoyable. Art therapy offers one such solution. In this paper, I used word recognition and connections to determine a person’s mood by reading their responses to An-drew’s questions. My experiment shows that this is an effective start to seeing …

Extracting Creative Procedural Knowledge From Photoshop Tutorials, Federico Madden
Computer Science and Engineering Senior Theses
For my senior design project, I created a web app that, given the text of an online Photoshop tutorial, uses a neural network to extract specific Photoshop actions (e.g. File - New or Layers - New Layer) that the tutorial either implicitly or explicitly instructs the reader to take. This neural network consists mainly of a BERT embedding layer followed by an LSTM module, with a linear multi-class, multi-label classification layer on top. The network achieved a macro average F1 score of 15.1% on tutorial sentence classification tasks.
