This study was primarily concerned with the relationship among ethnic groups--athletes and nonathletes--and personality differences. Six hypotheses, all stated in the null form, were used in comparing white varsity athletes and nonathletes; Negro varsity athletes and nonathletes; Negro and white varsity athletes; Negro and white nonathletes; Negro varsity athletes and white nonathletes; and white varsity athletes and Negro nonathletes. This study was done at the University of New Mexico during the academic school year, 1967-1968. The nation's colleges and universities and their respective athletic programs have contributed to this tradition. 1. Special interest group influences have operated through individual board members in the decision making process of the Pocatello Parks and Recreation Board.

2. Board member social interaction patterns have not included the power structure of the Pocatello community.

The purpose of this study was to compare combinations of physical and mental practice methods in learning a motor skill. An experiment was conducted at the University of New Mexico to test the hypothesis that combinations of mental and physical practice would be just as affective learning methods as would the use of total physical practice. Thirty-nine male university students, selected from physical education activity classes, were put into one of four groups by a method of random selection. This research was undertaken in order to examine the relationship between the energy cost of running on the treadmill with running on the track at the same speed, for the same length of time and at the same grade. The running speed was 7.5 miles per hour, the grade zero and the duration of the run five minutes. The data used for the comparison between the two methods of running were collected over the last thirty seconds of the run. The Objectives of this investigation were to study the extent alcohol was used by students of Utah State Industrial School (SIS), determine the knowledge these students had of alcohol and alcoholism, and compare the data of the Industrial School with data obtained from selected public high schools in Utah.

Study results revealed a greater percentage of the SIS students had used alcoholic beverages and their first drinking experience occurred at an earlier age than for the high school students. The effectiveness of achieving pre-determined goals by a military recreation department was studied at Hill Air Force Base, Utah. "Evaluation of Community Recreation" was the evaluation tool that was used, It is published by the National Recreation and Parks Association and was validated by the Great Lakes District Program Standards Committee in 1965. This evaluation contains 35 standards of measure involving 125 criteria to determine program effectiveness. These standards are in the general areas of philosophy and goals; administration; personnel; programming; areas, facilities, and equipment; and evaluation.

It was the purpose of this study to determine, through a cinematographical analysis, if running on a treadmill produced a change in running style or form by-comparing eleven measurements including body lean, various angles of the extremities, length of stride, and. vertical body movement.

There were two purposes involved in this study. The first objective was to construct increased increment scoring tables for selected track and field events based on the achievement of female physical education students at Rhodes University, South Africa, using the initial performances recorded by the students in each event during the years 1957, 1958, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1964, 1965 and 1966. Secondly, the tables were used to test the effectiveness of the increased increment principle in predicting the improvement of the students in subsequent trials during the same period.
