The Use Of Evidence-Based Behavior Practices In The General Education Classroom: A Comparison Of Teacher Perception And Implementation, Casey L. Horvath

This study investigated the perceptions and beliefs of four general education kindergarten teachers regarding their use of evidence-based behavior practices compared to their observed implementation of those practices. Classroom observations were conducted to collect data regarding teachers use of “honey” (positive, evidence-based practices) as compared to their use of “vinegar” (negative comments, redirections, etc.). Teacher interviews were also conducted to examine teacher perceptions, and the data was compared to determine if perceptions matched reality. Despite extensive research in journalism and public relations, scholars have largely overlooked AI’s role in collegiate athletic communications. To address this gap, this study surveyed professionals from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) to explore current use of AI and aspirations for its integration in the workplace. This nonexperimental quantitative study examined the relationship between teachers’ growth mindset and transformational leadership, and how the dimensions of teacher transformational leadership styles predict teachers’ growth mindset. The current study examined 63 participants in a school district in Florida. This mixed-methods study evaluated the impact of a tutoring program on third-grade students' reading achievement, focusing on rural Title I schools. The research used the Kellogg Logic Model to assess the program's short-term outcomes. It analyzed universal reading data for one hundred and three third-grade students and gathered the perspectives from nineteen stakeholders, including teachers, parents, and administrators. The purpose of this study was to understand the phenomenon that is the congruence between secondary special and general education co-teachers’ knowledge, beliefs, and actions that characterize how they experience co-teaching. A qualitative, phenomenological research design was used to explore co-teachers’ lived experiences through one-on-one interviews and classroom observations. Purposeful and convenient sampling yielded secondary general and special education teacher participants from one large, urban school district in the United States. The findings extend Bandura’s (1986) Social Cognitive Theory, suggesting the presence of observational learning between educators in the co-taught classroom. This dissertation examines the implementation of Holistic Student Supports at a community college that served as an early adopter of this approach, providing insights into the decade-long process of transformational change. Against the backdrop of community colleges' ongoing efforts to improve completion rates, this study investigates how one institution navigated the implementation process, made necessary adaptations, and sustained reform efforts over time. This capstone study investigates the mental health of private school teachers, focusing on how access to professional development resources and support systems influences their well-being. Grounded in Maslach and Jackson’s Burnout Theory, the research explores emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and diminished personal accomplishment as critical components of teacher burnout. A mixed-methods approach was used, incorporating pre- and post-surveys alongside a mental health presentation delivered to staff at a small Christian school in Minnesota. Of the 45 invited participants, 26 reported implementing new strategies—such as gratitude practices and emotional regulation—into their personal and professional lives. This thesis investigates the detrimental effects of bullying on students, including its impacts on mental health, academic performance, and overall well-being. Addressing this issue necessitates a proactive strategy involving school leaders, teachers, and parents. Data was collected via a questionnaire: selected items employed a 5-point Likert scale, while others used a multiple-choice format. Analysis was conducted in SPSS and included descriptive statistics, one-way ANOVA, t-tests, and binary logistic regression. The t-tests indicated that leadership practices implemented to prevent bullying in both public and private schools were highly effective and statistically significant (p < .05). This research contributes to our understanding of how school leadership and teacher involvement influence the efficacy of bullying-prevention strategies. By using quantitative methods, the study offers a comprehensive examination of school policies, bullying-awareness initiatives, and reporting systems. The findings highlight the importance of adopting context-specific approaches to bolster prevention efforts within schools. Future research that combines qualitative and quantitative analyses may yield deeper insights into the real-world challenges encountered in bullying-intervention strategies, thereby bridging the gap between policy formulation and practical implementation to ensure anti-bullying programs are both effective and culturally relevant.
