In my dissertation, I explore how managerial attributes affect corporate policies.

In my first essay, I examine the effects of public firm CEOs’ prior private equity (PE) target experiences on corporate policies. Based on difference-in-differences and propensity score matching analyses, public firm CEOs previously serving as CEOs in PE targets reduce investment by about 15 percent while enhancing patent values by over 7 percent after taking office compared to CEOs without such experiences. The effects are stronger if these CEOs (1) worked in targets invested by more reputable PE firms, (2) worked in targets invested by PE firms known for …

This study aims to analyze the role of online information in the decision-making process of investors in the form of donation-based crowdfunding. We use Kitabisa.com as a donation-based crowdfunding platform and collect 74 data on donation projects. This study uses the combination of a regression model with cross section data and an Elaboration likelihood model. The results of this study found that several very important online information variables, such as updates and shares on Facebook, proved significant to influence investors' decisions on crowdfunding platforms in Indonesia. This paper describes three instructional design cases impacting over 3,500 students annually and taught by midcareer female mass section faculty from one of the largest business schools at a tier-one public research university in the Southern region of the US. The three instructors of mass sections describe how they transitioned their face-to-face or hybrid courses from “Emergency Response Teaching” mode to considered distance learning implementation during the COVID-19 crisis. Purpose: This research explores Lean Six Sigma (LSS) limitations identified in previous studies and underpins the need to integrate Lean Six Sigma with Industry 4.0. Furthermore, this paper presents a use case for an opportunity offered by data-driven tools.

Method/Approach: Expert Interviews were conducted with senior Lean Six Sigma practitioners and academics in Europe. The data were analysed using qualitative content analysis and NVivo software.

This study proposes a framework of viewing the competition between governments to attract businesses into their jurisdiction as a competitive market. Literature is reviewed on the market forces and incentives of businesses and governments in location decisions. A possible gap in the literature of quantifying the price elasticity of competition between national governments for business activity is identified. OECD data is analyzed using equations supported by literature and results are evaluated to better understand the elasticity of international location decisions.
