Resource Allocation As An Outcropping Of Strategic Consistency: Performance Implications, Jeffrey S. Harrison, Ernest H. Hall Jr., Rajendra Nargundkar Jan 1993

Resource Allocation As An Outcropping Of Strategic Consistency: Performance Implications, Jeffrey S. Harrison, Ernest H. Hall Jr., Rajendra Nargundkar

Management Faculty Publications

Similarities in financial resource allocations across the lines of business of diversified firms may indicate corporate strategic consistency, which may lead to superior corporate performance. In support of this argument, the variance in R&D intensity across the lines of business of 96 diversified firms was found to be inversely related to industry-adjusted return on assets. However, no relationship was found for capital intensity. These results provide partial support for the usefulness of a resource-based approach to the study of diversification strategy.

Is Nipars Working As Advertised? An Analysis Of Nipars Program Customer Service, Peter F. De Kam, Dorothy J. Tribble

Theses and Dissertations

Historically, Foreign Military Sales non-standard item support has been a labor-intensive, time-consuming process. Additionally, when forced to compete for USAF resources, the foreign customer's need is often subjugated to the higher priority active USAF requirements. These problems motivated the Air Force to initiate a program to streamline procedures for the procurement of non- standard items. The program is the Nonstandard Item Parts Acquisition and Repair Support (NIPARS) program. The basic program concept is to move the management tasks for nonstandard items from USAF resources to a contractor in order to 'fix' the inefficiencies of the previous system. This thesis explores …

Seven of the most common schedule metrics were selected for evaluation by a group of five experienced acquisition professionals. The group was asked to input the likely behaviors driven by the metrics being addressed by the study. Next, they …

A Methodology For Project Selection Using Economic Analysis And The Analytic Hierarchy Process, Jeffrey L. Battin, Thomas J. Bender

Theses and Dissertations

This study examined the applicability of a multiple criterion decision making method, known as the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) , to economic analysis decisions involving project selection. Through a survey of the literature and current practices, it was determined that qualitative criteria were not adequately represented in a typical economic analysis of projects. Several MCDM methods were examined and the AHP was found to be the most promising technique to rate projects on a ratio scale. Two types of project selection problems, those involving nonmutually exclusive alternatives and those involving mutually exclusive alternatives, were examined. It was determined that the …

The Use Of Selected Economic Indicators In Regression Analysis To Test Semi-Strong Market Efficiency Of Asset Pricing, Kevin E. Pearson Jan 1991

The Use Of Selected Economic Indicators In Regression Analysis To Test Semi-Strong Market Efficiency Of Asset Pricing, Kevin E. Pearson

Presidential Scholars Theses (1990 – 2006)

The concept of market efficiency is a widely known and researched concept. The profit motive present in the market combined with advancements in trading technology and company knowledge have practically eliminated mispricing in equity markets. However, the limited number of hours of trading present in stock exchanges of the United States generates the potential for a certain amount of inefficiency. This inefficiency results from the inability of various stock markets to process certain types of public information because of the timing of its arrival in relation to the operating hours of the market. This paper will outline the process followed …

A Dss For Animal Nutrition Planning, Krishna Prasad, M R Gopalan, S Sridhar

IIMB Management Review

In recent years, after the much acclaimed success of the Green
Revolution, the nation’s planners are coming to realize that it is not adequate for
the nation to have enough to eat, it is also important to have quality food. There
has, therefore, recently been a new emphasis on industries such as dairy and
poultry. It has been realized that there is a need to harness India’s enormous
animal resources. (There are, by one estimate, some 480 million livestock in the
country, including about 230 million cattle and 136 million poultry). Significant

introducing intensive milk production systems and improved technology for
processing and marketing. It is a three tiered structure. The three tiers are (i)
the …
