Code Generation On Mobile Devices For Mobile Apps, Nathan Amanquah, Susana Ndede 2018 Ashesi University College, Ghana

Code Generation On Mobile Devices For Mobile Apps, Nathan Amanquah, Susana Ndede

Communications of the IIMA

There is both a demand and a need for rapidly developing mobile apps for data management as well as apps for conducting surveys. Much of the code for data management operations – create, retrieve, update and delete (CRUD) is the same, except for the parameters passed. Such boilerplate type code is well suited for code generation. Many tools are available for creating apps for conducting surveys, but are ill suited for data management scenarios since CRUD operations are not supported. The tools available generally require a PC to access the web-based build tool, and do not provide source code for …

Bpm Maturity And Performance: The Influence Of Knowledge On Bpm, Benny M.E. De Waal, Arjen Maris, Pascal Ravesteyn

Communications of the IIMA

In order to continuously improve performance, organizations need to control their processes. To do this it is assumed that organizations need a high level of business process management maturity and employees need a high level of knowledge and experience in BPM. Proof of this assumption has not been found in the literature. Therefore, the objective of this study is to determine what the influence is, of knowledge and experience of BPM, on the dependence between BPM maturity and process performance. For this study a dataset of 469 respondents from Dutch organizations was collected over the period of 2010 till 2015. …

Scrum In Construction Industry To Improve Project Performance In Design Phase, YINGCHEN LIU 2018 Harrisburg University of Science and Technology

Scrum In Construction Industry To Improve Project Performance In Design Phase, Yingchen Liu

Dissertations and Theses

As building technologies dramatically developed over the past several decades, construction project delivery methods evolved tremendously. Since the Renaissance, the fields of architecture and construction have been regarded as complex art forms. Today, both disciplines are regarded more as technical fields meant to improve human functional, technological, and practical needs. Therefore, the management of a project plays a more critical role in contemporary construction projects.

Over the several decades, there has been no significant change in the way of construction projects management changes. However, client requirements and expectations are constantly evolving. Because of this disconnect, traditional construction management practices cannot …

The Effect Of Relevant Responses From Conversational Agents On Behavior During Deception, Nikhit Adusumilli 2018 University of Nebraska at Omaha

The Effect Of Relevant Responses From Conversational Agents On Behavior During Deception, Nikhit Adusumilli

UNO Student Research and Creative Activity Fair

Conversational agents (CAs) are an integral component of many personal and business interactions. Many recent advancements in CA technology have attempted to make these interactions more natural and human-like. The influence of these elements of CA design on human behavior is currently unclear. It is possible that a more humanlike CA could change people’s behavior in ways that make deception detection more difficult. This research investigates one CA design factor: conversational relevance. We show that relevant responses make people slow down when responding to questions, and causes a different response when lying than when telling the truth.

Operational Leanness And Retail Firm Performance Since 1980, James R. Kroes, Andrew S. Manikas, Thomas F. Gattiker 2018 Boise State University

Operational Leanness And Retail Firm Performance Since 1980, James R. Kroes, Andrew S. Manikas, Thomas F. Gattiker

IT and Supply Chain Management Faculty Publications and Presentations

Lean is one of the most pervasive and powerful paradigms in Operations and Supply Chain Management. As a theory, lean has been well tested in manufacturing. Lean in retail has received less attention. There is good reason to think that seminal constructs from lean, such as inventory slack reduction and capacity slack reduction, may explain a great deal of the variance in retail firm performance. Therefore this paper tests lean-based propositions pertaining to the relationships between inventory slack, capacity slack, market instability and firm market performance. Using retail firm data from a 35 year period, we find that lean thinking …

A Model Of Competition Between Perpetual Software And Software As A Service, Zhiling GUO, Dan MA 2018 Singapore Management University

A Model Of Competition Between Perpetual Software And Software As A Service, Zhiling Guo, Dan Ma

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems

Duplicate record, see https://ink.library.smu.edu.sg/sis_research/3744/. Software as a service (SaaS) has grown to be a significant segment of many software product markets. SaaS vendors, which charge customers based on use and continuously improve the quality of their products, have put competitive pressure on traditional perpetual software vendors, which charge a licensing fee and periodically upgrade the quality of their software. We develop an analytical model to study the competitive pricing strategies of an incumbent perpetual software vendor in the presence of a SaaS competitor. We find that, depending on both the SaaS quality improvement rate and the network effect, the …

Multigeneration Product Diffusion In The Presence Of Strategic Consumers, Zhiling GUO, Jianqing CHEN 2018 Singapore Management University

Multigeneration Product Diffusion In The Presence Of Strategic Consumers, Zhiling Guo, Jianqing Chen

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems

Frequent new product releases pose significant challenges for firms as they manage successive generations of product diffusion. We develop an analytical model to study the effect of different purchase options by strategic consumers on a firm's profit and the firm's strategies for the timing and pricing of its successive generations of product diffusion. We show that consumers' strategic behavior, although adversely affecting the sales of the first-generation product, positively influences the sales of the second-generation product through an initial “seeding” effect. The influence of strategic consumers on profit and sales depends largely on the discount-to-price ratio of the first generation …

Those who have played ballgames will know that, initially, it feels more like the ball is dribbling you than the other way around. Managing legal documents is similar. Whether the documents in question are submissions, affidavits, client briefs, contracts, or corporate announcements, managing your documents well (and not letting your documents manage you) will help you score points for clients.

Impediments In Transitioning To Agile Time-Boxing Testing Efforts, Taniya Dasgupta 2018 Harrisburg University of Science and Technology

Impediments In Transitioning To Agile Time-Boxing Testing Efforts, Taniya Dasgupta

Dissertations and Theses

In agile framework, the system is developed in sprints. Some value-based products for the customers are created with completion of work in a sprint. There are firm dates of commencement and end in sprints, and duration of each sprint is normally equal. During a sprint, any change in scope or resources cannot be made. But sometimes it becomes difficult to follow this rule on account of the business needs. This time-boxing approach is seen responsible to cause more hindrance than propel organizations towards time-efficient development of products. This type of project demands a much more flexible time-line as compared to …

A Metrics Suite Of Cloud Computing Adoption Readiness, Robert J. KAUFFMAN, Dan MA, Martin YU 2018 Singapore Management University

A Metrics Suite Of Cloud Computing Adoption Readiness, Robert J. Kauffman, Dan Ma, Martin Yu

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems

Recent research on cloud computing adoption suggests the lack of a deep understanding of its benefits by managers and organizations. We present a firm-level cloud computing readiness metrics suite and assess its applicability for various cloud computing service types. We propose four relevant categories for firm-level adoption readiness, including technology and performance, organization and strategy, economic and valuation, and regulatory and environmental dimensions. We further define sub-categories and measures for each. Our evidence of the appropriateness of the metrics suite is derived based on a series of empirical cases developed from our project work, which encompasses input from field interviews, …

Strategic Excellence In Post-Digital Ecosystems: A B2c Perspective, Edin Güçlü Sözer, Mustafa Emre Civelek, Murat Çemberci

Zea E-Books Collection

The basic production of the digital economy is knowledge. As it becomes more important, traditional factors like labor and capital become less so. As technological innovation changes the nature of employment, the conversion of labor to consumption becomes increasingly difficult. E-commerce is the most important driving force of the digital economy. Using technology and information networks effectively allows brands or companies to effect rapid changes in competitive markets. The emergence of neo-consumers calls for a higher order of information exchange and interaction. Companies must reasses their complete business processes in a holistic way to ensure market prominence in an economy …

Using Financial Investment Measures To Proactively Engage Students In The Introductory Business Statistics Course, Mark L. Berenson, Nicole Koppel, Richard Lord, Laura L. Chapdelaine

Department of Information Management and Business Analytics Faculty Scholarship and Creative Works

Typically, the core-required undergraduate business statistics course covers a broad spectrum of topics with applications pertaining to all functional areas of business. The recently updated American Statistical Association's GAISE (Guidelines for Assessment and Instruction in Statistics Education) College Report once again stresses the pedagogical importance of topic and application relevancy in an increasingly data-centered world. To this end, only two introductory textbooks have incorporated some financial investment measures (Sharpe ratio and beta coefficient) in the teaching of numerical descriptive measures and simple linear regression analysis, respectively, while a few others include them as real-data application exercises at the end of …
