From August 26 to September 8, nine political science students and four supervising faculty traveled from Kennesaw State University to the 2012 Republican National Convention and the Democratic National Convention as part of special topics course on a course titled “Party Conventions Field Study”. While in Tampa and Charlotte, the students and faculty immersed themselves in a “real world” educational environment and in doing so gained extraordinary first-hand exposure to a fundamental, yet not well understood, part of the American political process. A bill put forth during the first Session of the 114th Congress to establish the United States Copyright Office as an independent agency, and for other purposes. This Act may be cited as the "Copyright Office for the Digital Economy Act."

Proposes enacting changes to Section 701 and Section 408 of Title 17 of the United States Code to remove the United States Copyright Office from the Legislative branch of the federal government and move it to the Executive branch of the federal government, along with proposals for associated transfer of administrative and technical functions.

Within the existing economic development literature, there is a well-established linkage between the presence of skilled human capital and economic growth. A subset of this literature has focused on the role that a specific type of skilled human capital, known as the “creative class,” may play in facilitating regional economic development. This dissertation builds upon the existing creative class literature by examining the factors that have attracted the creative class to the state of South Carolina. The Fourteenth Meeting of the States Parties (14MSP) was a formal meeting of the 162 States Parties to the 1997 Convention on the Prohibition of the Use, Stockpiling, Production and Transfer of Anti-Personnel Mines and on their Destruction. California has adopted a Complete Streets policy, which requires local municipalities to design roadways that meet the needs of all users (pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorists). This policy, combined with complaints about motorists speeding in residential areas, has been a catalyst for jurisdictions to install traffic calming measures on residential streets. One popular traffic calming measure used in the City of Redwood City is the installation of speed humps. Public policies have different effects on different populations groups and can perpetuate health disparities among some populations. My research utilizes community-based participatory approach to research in the examination of one unique population: the Marshallese. This dissertation research presents three papers that are part of a cohesive research agenda predicated on community-based participatory research (CBPR) to facilitate policy-oriented learning. The purpose of this study was to understand the phenomenon of how heterosexual Baby Boomers define and understand intimacy, sexual expression, along expectations and desires relating to their respective expressions across the lifespan through their individual experiences and reflections. A set of guiding questions were used in a hermeneutic phenomenological qualitative research design. Data was gathered from thirteen subjects (n=13) using the Rappaport Time Line (RTL) that was used to develop individualized semi-structured interviews and follow-up interviews that were professionally transcribed.
