This article summarizes two hypotheses. Firstly, the practices problem of spatial planning in urban areas, especially in Surabaya City, has led to the contestation and conflict among governmental actors, the public, and the power of capitalist/investor. Secondly, the use of spatial planning framework, in this case is the use of Local Regulation on Urban Planning and Land Use Number 3 year of 2007, has shown the partiality and strengthening investor by the government. Although research has made significant gains in understanding the constitutive nature of conversation in the process of organizing, its predictive effects on organizational outcomes are still uncertain. To contribute in this direction, based on social exchange theory and leader-member exchange (LMX) research, this study examined the predictive effects of leader-member conversational quality (LMCQ) on employee organizational commitment (OC), and the potential interaction effects of LMCQ with LMX quality. Using data from an online survey, this study found that above and beyond communication frequency and other control variables, LMCQ is significantly associated with employee OC. The Relationship Between Accounting Processes And Interpersonal Trust Within Organizations, Jace B. Garrett

Trust is an increasingly critical determinant of organizational success. This dissertation consists of three studies investigating the relationship between firms’ accounting processes and interpersonal trust. Using survey data from Great Place to Work® Institute, the first study investigates the association between trust (i.e., employees’ trust in management) and three aspects of financial reporting: accruals quality, misstatements, and internal control quality. Results suggest that trust is associated with better financial reporting quality. However, these effects are not uniform across companies. Consistent with trust improving financial reporting quality through improved information production and information sharing, results suggest that trust is significantly associated …

The way humans establish communication depends on the generation and conveyance of meaning. Linguistically, meaning in information is dependent on the meaning that is ascribed to signifiers in the context of the communication. These signifiers can include items such as words, phrases, signs, and symbols. Conveyance of meaning may, however, imprecise and prone to error. The meaning of information in communication may arise from a change in the context in which a signifier is placed (intrinsic), or a change in the paradigm with which the signifier and context are perceived (extrinsic). Previous research emphasizes the benefits associated with having open gay and lesbian employees. However, many gay and lesbian employees still remain in the closet. This project examines barriers preventing gay and lesbian individuals from coming out at work. Four lesbian women and three gay men in the early stages of their careers were interviewed about their experiences of being closeted at work. Analysis reveals four barriers preventing gay and lesbian individuals from coming out at work and explores how these barriers are reinforced by informal organizational communication. Hoy and Miskel (2008) and Weick (1976) conceptualize schools as organizational systems of which parents comprise part of the organization. Specifically, parent involvement includes such behaviors as assisting students with homework, participating in policy decisions, and providing feedback (Barge & Loges, 2003). Parent involvement is largely championed in K12 education and particularly in middle schools (e.g., Coalition of Essential Schools, 1993; Texas Education Agency, 1991).
