Affective, Cognitive, Behavioral Appeals In A Parasocial Breakup With Podcast Hosts Of Radiolab, M.O. Vilceanu, Kristine Johnson
Association of Marketing Theory and Practice Proceedings 2024
This is the first study to investigate parasocial breakups in the context of long-term podcast listening. Radiolab, which is produced by WNYC in New York, is an award-winning program that reaches millions of people. Starting as a radio show in 2002 and later offering a podcast format in 2007, show creators and former hosts, Robert Krulwich and Jad Abumrad, entertained audiences with their journalistic investigations of science-related topics while later incorporating societal and political content in the program. Yet similar to successful long-running television programs, Radiolab has undergone host changes. Today, the official hosts are Latif Nasser and Lulu Miller, …

Representasi Inklusivitas Dalam Trailer Film Barbie (2023), Nathaniel Antonio Parulian, Nuria Astagini
Jurnal Vokasi Indonesia
The humans that God created have different gifts, both physical and intellectual. These differences can create a negative side for members of groups with dark skin color and curly hair, while members with light skin color and straight hair are given a superior position because they are considered capable of creating attractiveness. This condition has become a social phenomenon in society, including in media content. However, something different is shown in one of the content summaries of the Barbie film which will be released in 2023. Several scenes in the Barbie film trailer are a representation of inclusivity which shows …

What Does One Billion Dollars Look Like?: Visualizing Extreme Wealth, 2024 The Graduate Center, City University of New York
What Does One Billion Dollars Look Like?: Visualizing Extreme Wealth, William Mahoney Luckman
Dissertations, Theses, and Capstone Projects
The word “billion” is a mathematical abstraction related to “big,” but it is difficult to understand the vast difference in value between one million and one billion; even harder to understand the vast difference in purchasing power between one billion dollars, and the average U.S. yearly income. Perhaps most difficult to conceive of is what that purchasing power and huge mass of capital translates to in terms of power. This project blends design, text, facts, and figures into an interactive narrative website that helps the user better understand their position in relation to extreme wealth: https://whatdoesonebilliondollarslooklike.website/
The site incorporates …

Theses and Dissertations
Guided by the network gatekeeping and secondary gatekeeping theoretical frameworks, this study employed a 2 (news headlines: pro-Palestine/anti-Palestine) x 2 (news sources: the Times of Israel/Al-Jazeera English) experiment embedded in an online survey on a purposive sample of Arab social media users (N= 452), aiming to understand the antecedents of online news verification during the 2023 Gaza War1. A model was proposed to examine the role of confirmation bias in shaping perceptions about sources and messages, thereby impacting online …
