Persons with disabilities (PWD) have unmet health care needs, experience health disparities compared to those without disabilities. Chylopericardium is a rare condition. Causes include superior vena cava syndrome resulting from indwelling catheters. We present a case of this condition in a 42-year-old man with end-stage renal disease treated with hemodialysis through a right subclavian vein catheter. He underwent successful endovascular stenting with resolution of his symptoms and chylopericardium.

Chronic expanding hematoma (CEH) is a rare entity that poses diagnostic and therapeutic challenges due to persistent growth, risk of recurrence, and potential for blood loss anemia. The most common etiologies of CEH are trauma or surgery. It is thought to occur due to irritant effects of blood breakdown products, causing bleeding from capillaries in chronic granulation tissue. The Woven EndoBridge (WEB) device is primarily used for treating wide-neck intracranial bifurcation aneurysms under 10 mm. Limited data exists on its efficacy for large aneurysms. We aim to assess angiographic and clinical outcomes of the WEB device in treating large versus small aneurysms. We conducted a retrospective review of the WorldWide WEB Consortium database, from 2011 to 2022, across 30 academic institutions globally. Propensity score matching (PSM) was employed to compare small and large aneurysms on baseline characteristics. A total of 898 patients were included. Transcatheter extraction of an intracardiac mass is a newer approach that may lead to nonsurgical treatment of complex cardiac masses. We present a case in which thrombectomy devices were combined to extract a right atrial mass, which highlights new frontiers in the treatment of complex transcatheter mass extraction. The combined use of two transcatheter thrombectomy devices (Kong and Godzilla) may provide a powerful addition to the existing armamentarium.

Aim: Use long-term follow-up data from the IMPERIAL study to determine whether drug-eluting polymer-based nitinol stent treatment can delay the time to repeat intervention for femoropopliteal artery disease and how such a delay may result in cost savings in a value-based episode of care. The study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the Singh Thattha beard covering technique when quantitatively fit testing tight-fitting filtering face masks (N95 respirators) on male members of the Sikh religious group. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Sikh healthcare workers faced the difficult decision of either shaving their unshorn beards to continue their profession or finding alternative solutions to maintain adequate respiratory protection. We report a case of a 67-year-old male who presented to the emergency department (ED) for palpitations and complaint of his automated implantable cardioverter defibrillator (AICD) firing at home who had multiple episodes of persistent ventricular tachycardia (VT) during his course of stay in the ED. Patients with pacemakers and AICDs can present an additional layer of complexity when treating these conditions. Temporary overdrive pacing (TOP) should be considered as a treatment to correct refractory ventricular tachycardia in patients with implanted pacemakers and AICDs presenting to the ED.

PURPOSE: Some preschool students with complex communication needs explore eye-gaze computer technology (EGCT) and adopt computer-based augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). The objective of this study was to follow preschool explorers of EGCT who are now school aged to describe the children's use of technology and parents' perceptions of its utility for communication, participation, or leisure.

METHOD: Ten parents completed survey questions by Internet and phone and reported their perceptions of nine children's effectiveness in the use and acceptance of AAC and the support they received in implementing technology. The results are reported as a descriptive study.

Expiratory muscle strength training (EMST) is increasingly being used to treat voice, cough, and swallowing deficits in a wide range of conditions. However, a multitude of aero-resistive EMST models are commercially available, and the absence of side-by-side comparative data interferes with clinicians’ ability to assess which model is best suited to a particular client’s needs. The purpose of this study was to compare the hearing status of dental hygienists who utilize ultrasonic scalers in the workplace compared to age-matched control participants (non-dental hygienists) who were not exposed to ultrasonic noise.

Purpose: Sleep apnea is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disorders. CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) therapy is the main treatment for sleep apnea. However, adherence with CPAP remains a concern. Although there are various factors attributed to failure of CPAP therapy, mask related factors are not well studied.

Methods: The study recruited patients with obstructive sleep apnea using CPAP from neurology outpatient clinic at Progressive Neurology and Sleep Center. An IRB (Institutional Review Board) approved questionnaire was administered to evaluate factors affecting CPAP compliance.
