Scenario Analysis Of Downtown One-Way Street Conversions In Lincoln, Nebraska, A Case Study For Downtown Livability And Pedestrian Safety, Terrence Lage
Community and Regional Planning Program: Theses
An era of downtown street design benefiting the automobile has become over designed for the movement of volumes of traffic in many North American cities. Since the 1950s, the primary focus of planners and traffic engineers has been to address the growing problem of traffic congestion caused by the suburban traveler coming into and out of downtown. The solution was retrofitting the original two-way street grid into a network of wide and straight multi-lane one-way corridors. This design successfully moved volumes of traffic through downtown streets but induced behavior to favor the automobile instead of design that favors active mobility …
Size And Cost Reduction Of The Antenna 3000, Mario Mignott, Austin Deaver, Josh Madaris
Size And Cost Reduction Of The Antenna 3000, Mario Mignott, Austin Deaver, Josh Madaris
Senior Design Project For Engineers
For our senior design project, we have partnered with Compass Technology Group to improve its Antenna 3000 manufacturing process. The Antenna we are working on is not actually called this, but due to NDA regulations, we will disguise it as the Antenna 3000. This will include finding a way to minimize material costs and labor hours involved to assemble this product together. Our minimum success criteria will be to reduce both the manufacturing time and materials' cost by 20%. Our primary approach to solving this problem will be to implement Lean Six Sigma practices such as the DMAIC principle.

Operational Decision-Making In Healthcare Using Control Charts, Rohan More
Master's Theses
The primary objective of this thesis was to design a framework supplemented with guidelines for the healthcare managers to select an appropriate type of control chart for operational decision-making. A systematic literature review was conducted to gauge the extent to which control charts were being used in a healthcare setting for clinical decision making and operational decision-making purposes. The findings showed that the application of control charts was almost equal for the clinical decision-making sector and the operational decision-making sector. On further analysis, the ability of control charts to function as a standalone tool was affirmed by the vast majority …
Comparison Of Classification Algorithms And Undersampling Methods On Employee Churn Prediction: A Case Study Of A Tech Company, Heather Cooper
Comparison Of Classification Algorithms And Undersampling Methods On Employee Churn Prediction: A Case Study Of A Tech Company, Heather Cooper
Master's Theses
Churn prediction is a common data mining problem that many companies face across industries. More commonly, customer churn has been studied extensively within the telecommunications industry where there is low customer retention due to high market competition. Similar to customer churn, employee churn is very costly to a company and by not deploying proper risk mitigation strategies, profits cannot be maximized, and valuable employees may leave the company. The cost to replace an employee is exponentially higher than finding a replacement, so it is in any company’s best interest to prioritize employee retention.
This research combines machine learning techniques with …

Optimal Collaborative Path Planning For Unmanned Surface Vehicles Carried By A Parent Boat Along A Planned Route, Ari Carisza Graha Prasetia, I-Lin Wang, Aldy Gunawan
Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems
In this paper, an effective mechanism using a fleet of unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) carried by a parent boat (PB) is proposed to complete search or scientific tasks over multiple target water areas within a shorter time . Specifically, multiple USVs can be launched from the PB to conduct such operations simultaneously, and each USV can return to the PB for battery recharging or swapping and data collection in order to continue missions in a more extended range. The PB itself follows a planned route with a flexible schedule taking into consideration locational constraints or collision avoidance in a real-world …
Designing An Autonomous Goods-To-Person Order Picking System: From Storage To Pick., Mina Shekari Ashgzari
Designing An Autonomous Goods-To-Person Order Picking System: From Storage To Pick., Mina Shekari Ashgzari
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
In recent years, there has been an increased growth in e-commerce, which is a special case of a business-to-customer model. Among all the operations for fulfilling online orders, order picking has been the concern of many researchers and practitioners in the field of warehousing and material handling. This is due to very different technical assumptions and service expectations for online retailers compared to the case of business-to-business models. The most fundamental change in order processing, imposed by business-to-customer models, is shipping individual items or “eaches,” instead of cases and pallets, which is typical of business-to-business models. As a result, the …

AF DCGS has a recognized need to improve speed of delivery for modification and sustainment of the weapon system. Given that the program office implemented a Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) process for the sole purpose of delivering capability to the field faster, there is a need to measure and report the pipeline throughput. This research conducts an independent evaluation of the newly implemented pipeline within AF DCGS’s existing integration and test laboratories. Actual project data from the agile development work environments is studied and hypothesis tests are conducted to substantiate that the CI/CD pipeline improved the speed of delivery. The …

ℓ-Ctp: Utilizing Multiple Agents To Find Efficient Routes In Disrupted Networks, Andrew Alseth
Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Recent hurricane seasons have demonstrated the need for more effective methods of coping with flooding of roadways. A key complaint of logistics managers is the lack of knowledge when developing routes for vehicles attempting to navigate through areas which may be flooded. In particular, it can be difficult to re-route large vehicles upon encountering a flooded roadway. We utilize the Canadian Traveller’s Problem (CTP) to construct an online framework for utilizing multiple vehicles to discover low-cost paths through networks with failed edges unknown to one or more agents a priori. This thesis demonstrates the following results: first, we develop the …
