An Introduction To The Winograd Discrete Fourier Transform, Janice S. Agnello
An Introduction To The Winograd Discrete Fourier Transform, Janice S. Agnello
Retrospective Theses and Dissertations
This paper illustrates Winograd's approach to computing the Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT). This new approach changes the DFT into a cyclic convolution of 2 sequences, and illustrates shortcuts for computing this cyclic convolution. This method is known to reduce the number of multiplies required to about 20% less than the number of multiplies used by the techniques of the Fast Fourier Transform. Three approaches are discussed, one for prime numbers, one for products of primes, and lastly one for powers of odd primes. For powers of 2 Winograd's algorithm is, in general, inefficient and best if it is not used. …

The Relationship Between Teacher Sex Role Models And Career Aspirations Of High School Industrial Arts Students, Janet Lynn Robb
The Relationship Between Teacher Sex Role Models And Career Aspirations Of High School Industrial Arts Students, Janet Lynn Robb
Dissertations and Theses @ UNI
Sex role stereotyping has been the focus of a number of research projects trying to determine just where stereotyping lies and ways to eliminate it. Although most of the research points toward role modeling as a major cause, little has been done to test that theory.
The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between teacher sex role models and the career aspirations of students enrolled in high school industrial arts courses throughout the United States. This study was limited to tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grade students enrolled in industrial arts programs in high schools in the United …
The Effects Of A Kinesthetic Training Program On The Acquisition Of Industrial Skills Among University Students, John V. Mockler
The Effects Of A Kinesthetic Training Program On The Acquisition Of Industrial Skills Among University Students, John V. Mockler
Dissertations and Theses @ UNI
Training workers for specific jobs is receiving much attention in industry. The demand for skilled workers is increasing constantly and as this happens newer and more efficient methods of training are sought In the psychomotor/sensory area. skills that appear to offer a wide amount of transferability are those dealing with fine sensitivity, manual dexterity, and coordination. Even though these skills lend themselves well to training, this area is somewhat deficient in current educational and training programs (Sjogren, 1977, p.23). Presently, on-the-job training is widely used for training workers in the actual tasks they will perform during their job.
The process …
A Planning System For Research Management In A University Environment, Russell Lee Goldammer
A Planning System For Research Management In A University Environment, Russell Lee Goldammer
Masters Theses
"The research project director at a college or university has few, if any, of the traditional management tools that are available for other forms of management, especially in performing the early, crucial stages of planning. This is particularly distressing since managing a program in this type of environment can be very difficult, due to bureaucratic red tape and interdepartmental concerns. The purpose here is to develop an aid for managers with these problems, for more effective research management in a university environment.
After developing a general model for a typical research project at a university, the Gasification Research On Wood …

Management Of Manpower Planning In A Job Shop, John E. Yadlon
Management Of Manpower Planning In A Job Shop, John E. Yadlon
Theses
The object of any system of manpower planning is to provide a means to optimize manpower utilization. Within this base there is the normal requirement to provide effective utilization of equipment, materials and manpower. In a production type of environment, studies, statistics, research and supervisory manpower are readily available to best optimize manpower planning. In a job shop environment only fragments of these elements are available. Also, the available supervisory time for studies and implementation of research into statistics is usually very small. The net result is that manpower management in a job shop is all too often guessed at. …
The Introduction Of A Computerized Production Control System In A Small Manufacturing Company, Harry Leroy Zimmerly
The Introduction Of A Computerized Production Control System In A Small Manufacturing Company, Harry Leroy Zimmerly
Theses
The purpose of this thesis is to acquaint the reader with the intricacies of introducing a computerized production control system into a small manufacturing company. To do this a hypothetical company was described as it existed with a manual production control system. The information flow of the manual system was described in detail.
Potential computerized production control systems with a shop data collection system were then investigated. A computerized system would expedite information flow, allow rapid assembly tracking, take accurate data and reveal the actual cost (including labor cost) of an assembly. This was done first by examining technical publications. …

The Transition Of An Engineer To An Engineering Manager: The People Problem., Edward Leon Boyd
Masters Theses
“A review of existing literature and a survey of engineering managers are used to determine the work of the engineering manager, the career path leading to an engineering management position, and the skills that should be acquired by the engineer desiring to make the transition to an engineering management position.
The work of the engineering manager, like that of any manager, is getting things done through other people. In advancing to the first formal management position, the engineer usually passes through three career stages: engineer, informal manager, and formal manager. While advancing through these career stages, the engineer must increase …
