Leafless trees, patchy snow, empty warehouses and unmanned equipment dot the Hudson River’s edge. Dark clouds loom over a weathered yellow house rimmed with weeds, featuring an unwelcoming “Private Property” sign in the yard.

Over the last several decades, efforts to regulate the environment through traditional public law at national and international levels have stalled. In contrast, private environmental governance has flourished as nongovernmental entities have engaged in standard setting and assessment practices traditionally left to public government. This Article observes that while private governance of producers’ environmental product claims has grown tremendously in recent years, the vast majority of the governance originates in the global North and thrusts the global North’s economic and environmental agenda into the global South. JOHNSON CITY (Oct. 12, 2018) – East Tennessee State University has activated its ETSU Response website to provide information on how to support those affected by Hurricane Michael. 

This storm made landfall as a category 4 hurricane on Wednesday (Oct. 10) on the Florida Panhandle.  Heavy rains and winds continued through Georgia and the Carolinas as Michael was downgraded to a tropical storm and moved northeast.

The website, www.etsu.edu/response, gives the university and surrounding community ways to support those affected by Hurricane Michael.

JOHNSON CITY (Oct. 12, 2018) — The Student Veterans Association at East Tennessee State University and Mountain Empire Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America (MECMOAA) will co-host the annual Maj. Stephen T. Sharar Run for the Dogs 5K on Saturday, Oct. 20.

The 5K race will be held on ETSU’s campus and will begin adjacent to Jack Vest Drive, behind Knight’s Pizza. Check-in starts at 9 a.m. followed by the race at 10 a.m. Runners are encouraged to bring their dogs.

Dr. Timir Paul, director of cardiovascular research and associate professor in ETSU’s Quillen College of Medicine, helped create the new guidelines on myocardial revascularization – a procedure to open blocked heart arteries for patients with ischemic heart disease – after researching various outcomes of the intervention.

Purpose of the Study: Given the similarities between influencing others when teaching and when selling, this work explores student perceptions of selling techniques used by professors. This work investigates faculty instructional methods informed by the prospecting and follow-up sales process’s steps to positively affect student perceptions, and to attract and retain students in online and traditional formats. JOHNSON CITY – The choral ensembles of East Tennessee State University’s Department of Music will open their fall concert season with a “Choral Collage” on Friday, Oct. 12, at 7:30 p.m. at Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church.

The concert will feature a wide range of styles, from Renaissance to contemporary.  Composers include Antonio Lotti, Johannes Brahms, Franz Schubert, Halsey Stevens, Dale Trumbore and “more that no one will know,” says Dr. Matthew Potterton, an associate professor who serves as chair of the department and director of choral and vocal activities.
