JOHNSON CITY (Aug. 30, 2022) – East Tennessee State University’s Quillen College of Medicine announced a new program designed to create more pathways for high school and college students who are interested in careers in medicine to serve rural and underserved communities.

Microcredit has grown dramatically over the last few decades and its supporters have made extravagant promises about its potential impact on reducing poverty. However, much recent research has shown that microcredit has no significant impact on reducing poverty. In this exploratory study we interview 205 clients of for-profit microcredit to better understand the causes of why microcredit has not lived up to its promise. We find the basic problem is that the lending policies of the microcredit organizations are designed to lower the costs and risks, and hence increase the profits of the organization, and are not responsive to the …

Identifying factors that influence consumers’ intentions to adopt a smartwatch has become a major research interest in marketing literature, yet little is known about it in dissimilar cultural settings. The current research employs a comparative study of South Korea and Indonesia, which differ in location and cultural heritage, smartwatch penetration rate, geographic size, level of income, and developmental stage as a country. An extended model of TAM is proposed, and PLS-SEM is employed to test the model on data collected from 262 respondents. Seeded marketing campaign (SMC) is a newly created type of marketing activities with the widespread use of social media. Previous research has examined to find out the optimal seeding strategy that yields the best outcome from the campaign. This research explores the relationships between the characteristics of the seeded influencer and user engagement. The data consists of information from 1,062 seeded Instagram posts posted in September 2020 in Korea and 778 seeded influencers who posted those contents. The goal of this study is to scrutinize the impact of individual online convenience dimensions on mobile banking acceptance and use in Mongolia. A total of 211 valid responses were collected from Mongolian university students who currently use mobile banking application services from local banks. The SmartPLS 3.3 software was used to conduct the confirmatory factor analysis and test the hypotheses. Using structural equation modelling, this research discovered that access convenience, transaction convenience, and possession/post- possession convenience are the main constructs related to the adoption of mobile banking services. JOHNSON CITY – East Tennessee State University presented its 2022 Distinguished Faculty Award in Service to Ashley Sergiadis, digital scholarship librarian and assistant professor in the Charles C. Sherrod Library.
The Distinguished Faculty Awards in Teaching, Research and Service are the highest honors bestowed upon faculty by ETSU.
Sergiadis has been instrumental in launching two major initiatives that help reduce the cost of textbooks and other course materials: the Open and Affordable (OA) Course Materials Awards Program in collaboration with ETSU’s Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) and the Sherrod Library’s E-Textbook Reserves Program.
