Creating Healthy Work Environments (CHWE)
Nurses are a critical component of the healthcare delivery system, weaving together science, critical thinking, empathy, compassion, and empowerment to deliver relational, expert care (Wood et al., 2023). To translate current evidence into practices that transform healthcare, nurses need to have confidence in their ability to access, evaluate, and integrate evidence. To provide compassionate, relational care, nurses themselves need to be well. This project sought to address both goals: transforming healthcare delivery by improved nurse wellbeing through peer collaboration and enhanced confidence in evidence-based practice (EBP) skills.
EBP is the intentional use of current, relevant research combined with sound clinical …

Creating Healthy Work Environments (CHWE)
Problem/Background: A 2021 study by the American Organization for Nursing Leadership reported that sustainment of staff emotional health and well-being were top priorities for 75% of the nurse leader respondents.1 Compassionate caring of others begins with loving-kindness toward self.2 Nurse leaders must practice self-care and loving-kindness for themselves and role model it as a means of empowering and promoting wellness for their staff. Holistic and integrative strategies aimed at promoting nurse leader and staff well-being consequently promote a healing environment for authentic caring presence for patients.
Purpose/SMART Aims: This project aimed to promote nurse leader wellness …
Nurse Resident Job Satisfaction With A Formal Mentorship Program, Jessica Hoehne
Nurse Resident Job Satisfaction With A Formal Mentorship Program, Jessica Hoehne
Creating Healthy Work Environments (CHWE)
Purpose: Job satisfaction is a predictor of nursing turnover and intent to stay. New nurses are especially vulnerable to turnover during their first year creating a significant barrier to building the nursing workforce. Research shows reasons contributing to the high attrition rates of new nurses include a lack of confidence, an inability to cope with work-related stress and a decreased sense of belonging. Several studies have shown that mentorship promotes personal and professional development, increases learning, and builds confidence. The goal of implementing a mentorship program is to create a culture of support for nurse residents resulting in increased job …

Baccalaureate Nursing Students Identify Positive And Negative Belongingness Behaviors In Clinical Practice: Lessons For Clinicians, Missy Ofe Fleck, Cathrin L. Carithers, Lynnette Leeseberg Stamler, Leeza A. Struwe
Creating Healthy Work Environments (CHWE)
Creating inclusive clinical learning environments in which students thrive is a priority in nursing education and practice to foster belongingness (Metzger & Taggert, 2020), address person-centered care needs (Marjadi et al., 2023), and prepare a diverse nursing workforce (Charania & Patel, 2022). Relationships nurtured among health care team members and nursing students provide the fundamental social context for acceptance and efficacious learning (Levett-Jones et al., 2007). Levett-Jones and Lathlean (2008) identified belongingness as a “deeply personal and contextually mediated experience that evolves in response to the degree to which an individual feels (a) secure, accepted, included, valued, and respected by …

Robots, Ledgers, And Revpar: A Blockchain-Enabled Ai–Robotics Conceptual Model For Sustainable Hotel Revenue And Asset Management, Leonard A. Jackson
Robots, Ledgers, And Revpar: A Blockchain-Enabled Ai–Robotics Conceptual Model For Sustainable Hotel Revenue And Asset Management, Leonard A. Jackson
Faculty Articles
Introduction: Robotics and artificial intelligence (AI) are rapidly reshaping hospitality by automating frontline and back-of-house processes, augmenting service encounters, and expanding the analytical scope of revenue management. Yet, existing research remains fragmented: service-robot studies largely emphasize adoption and human–robot interaction, while revenue-management research prioritizes pricing and distribution, sustainability research focuses on environmental practices, and hotel real-estate scholarship foregrounds governance and asset value. Meanwhile, blockchain technologies—through distributed ledgers, smart contracts, digital identity, and tokenization—offer a complementary trust and value-transfer layer that can address coordination and verification problems across hotel ecosystems (e.g., data sharing, sustainability claims, and owner–operator contracting).

A New Strain-Crystallizable Rubber Via Neodymocene-Catalyzed Regio-, Stereo-, And Sequence-Selective Copolymerization Of Isoprene And Ethylene, Li Jia, Lei Zhu, Zhenxing Chen, Jingqing Lyu
University Research
An ansa-neodymocene catalyst previously reported in the literature has been identified to catalyze the title copolymerization to afford poly(1,4-trans-isoprene–ethylene) with 95% selectivity for the major microstructure. Such structural regularity is minimally required for the rubbery product, dubbed isoprene–ethylene rubber (IER), to exhibit prominent strain-induced crystallization (SIC) at 0 °C. The mechanical properties of IER rival those of natural rubber when SIC occurs. The unit cell of the strain-induced crystals is monoclinic with a = 2.21 nm, b = 0.72 nm, c = 1.30 nm, and β = 110.8°. Each unit cell is estimated to contain 12 chains in the ac …

Objective.Accurate lung function assessment is essential for diagnosing and managing diseases like chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder, pulmonary emboli, and lung cancer. Single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) provides valuable 3D functional imaging of ventilation and perfusion, but is limited by low spatial resolution, availability, additional radiation, and cost. Alternative methods, including CT-based perfusion (CT-P) and deep learning models, require large datasets to validate results that are often scarce. Pulmonary function tests (PFTs) offer rapid and noninvasive global lung function measures and are clinically widely used. While ventilation correlates well with PFTs, perfusion imaging presents challenges due to complex blood flow and …

INTRODUCTION: Relationship between changes in cardiac function, functional capacity, and patient-reported health status in heart failure (HF) remains incompletely defined, which may help inform endpoint selection and clarify how distinct clinical domains reflect treatment response.
METHODS: This post hoc analysis of the randomized cardiac microcurrent (C-MIC) II trial, which evaluated the efficacy and safety of C-MIC therapy in patients with chronic HF with reduced ejection fraction on optimal guideline-directed medical therapy, included 65 ambulatory patients with non-ischaemic dilated cardiomyopathy, New York Heart Association (NYHA) Class III-IV symptoms, and baseline left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) 25-35%. Correlations between changes in Kansas …
Investigating Confounding Factors In Shear Wave Speed Measurements Of Fibrotic Liver Tissues: A Computer Simulation Study, Emily J. Miller, Yongmei Jin, Jingfeng Jiang
Investigating Confounding Factors In Shear Wave Speed Measurements Of Fibrotic Liver Tissues: A Computer Simulation Study, Emily J. Miller, Yongmei Jin, Jingfeng Jiang
Michigan Tech Publications
Screening patients with liver fibrosis and identifying those at risk of developing advanced liver fibrosis is of clinical interest. Shear wave elastography (SWE), a promising non-invasive screening tool used to distinguish healthy tissue from diseased tissue, measures tissue shear wave speed (SWS) to describe tissue stiffness and identify liver fibrosis. However, considerable variations in the reported results have been found. We propose that the heterogeneity of the liver tissue background, such as the presence of fatty liver tissue and the preferred local orientation of the scarred fibrotic liver tissues embedded into the liver parenchyma, may contribute to the uncertainty in …

Inductive Transducers For Measuring Vibrations, S.F. Amirov, A.Kh. Sulliev, A.A. Shoimkulov
Chemical Technology, Control and Management
A new design of an induction transducer has been developed for measuring linear and torsional vibrations in different directions with high sensitivity by constructing an inertial element consisting of four mutually perpendicular sectors and making the masses of two adjacent sectors different from the masses of the other two adjacent sectors. By constructing an inertial element in the form of a sector with two mutually diametric magnetic cores and different masses, and placing it between the horizontal and vertical axes, a design of an induction transducer has been developed that highly sensitively measures linear and torsional vibrations in different directions, …
Dynamic Deep Prompt Optimization For Defending Against Jailbreak Attacks On Llms, Doniyorkhon Obidov, Honggang Yu, Xiaolong Guo, Kaichen Yang
Dynamic Deep Prompt Optimization For Defending Against Jailbreak Attacks On Llms, Doniyorkhon Obidov, Honggang Yu, Xiaolong Guo, Kaichen Yang
Michigan Tech Publications
Large Language Models (LLMs) demonstrate impressive capabilities across many applications but remain vulnerable to jailbreak attacks, which elicit harmful or unintended content. While model fine-tuning is an option for safety alignment, it is costly and prone to catastrophic forgetting. Prompt optimization has emerged as a promising alternative, yet existing prompt-based defenses typically rely on static modifications (e.g., fixed prefixes or suffixes) that cannot adapt to diverse and evolving attacks.
We propose Dynamic Deep Prompt Optimization (DDPO), the first jailbreak defense based on deep prompt optimization. DDPO uses the target LLM’s own intermediate layers as feature extractors to dynamically generate defensive …

Place And Time: Interrogating The Spatial And Temporal Patterns Of Social Vulnerability In Tennessee, Max Bangham Dixon
Place And Time: Interrogating The Spatial And Temporal Patterns Of Social Vulnerability In Tennessee, Max Bangham Dixon
Electronic Theses and Dissertations Archive
Social vulnerability is essential for research and as a framework in disaster management. Despite a common understanding that social vulnerability is spatially and temporally variable, the ways in which it is variable are not well understood. This research examines the dynamic nature of social vulnerability through two indices (SoVI and SVI) at a census tract-level using Fuzzy-C Means clustering and spatial analyses. Drivers of vulnerability are examined to understand what influences place-based vulnerability and discover how those drivers vary across space. Findings suggest that Fuzzy-C Means clustering is effective in creating interpretable groups of vulnerability indicators that are consistent with …

The Bidirectional Effects Of Engaging In Hazard Perception And Work-Related Phone Calls, Hannah V. Pannell
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
This research investigates the bidirectional effects of conducting work-related phone negotiations during a driving task. With the prevalence of multitasking in today's fast-paced environments, understanding the effects of dual-task interference is critical for enhancing road safety and workplace efficiency. Experiment 1 established a foundational understanding that multitasking negatively affects both driving ability and negotiation outcomes. Experiment 2 employed an accomplice script to standardize negotiation quality, revealing that while dual-tasking again impaired driving performance, focused negotiators earned more points on the integrative items and overall. Analyses of negotiation behaviors further indicate differences in the use of distributive behaviors. Together, these experiments …

Analytical Method For Investigating Nonlinear Magnetic Circuits Of Measuring Transducers With A Standard Parameter Distribution Structure, Javhar Sulton O'G'Li Fayzullayev
Analytical Method For Investigating Nonlinear Magnetic Circuits Of Measuring Transducers With A Standard Parameter Distribution Structure, Javhar Sulton O'G'Li Fayzullayev
Chemical Technology, Control and Management
The article proposes a new analytical method for investigating magnetic circuits with distributed parameters and nonlinear magnetic coupling. The method is based on introducing into the system of nonlinear differential equations of such circuits the condition that the second derivative of the magnetic flux with respect to the circuit length is equal to zero, as well as on assuming that one of the geometric parameters of the studied magnetic circuit – the value of the air gap between ferromagnetic cores, their thickness, width, or the linear value of the number of turns of the distributed excitation winding – is a …

Research Of Logic Elements Based On Complementary Bipolar Transistors, Nodira Batirdjanovna Alimova, Nilufar Baxtiyorovna Gulyamova
Chemical Technology, Control and Management
Important parameters for any type of inverter – a NOT logic gate – are the power consumption during switching and the supply voltage. The proposed connection of complementary (two different types) bipolar transistors reduces the current consumption and supply voltage by simultaneously using the cutoff and saturation modes of the bipolar transistors. It has been theoretically and experimentally established that an inverter using complementary bipolar transistors operates at low supply voltages, approximately 0.7 V. Power consumption is virtually independent of the inverter's static state. A method for calculating the transfer characteristic of an inverter using complementary bipolar transistors is developed, …
