BACKGROUND: Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and SARS-CoV-2 can cause acute respiratory failure in children. We compared characteristics and outcomes of children aged < 2 years with respiratory failure from infection with RSV, SARS-CoV-2, or both viruses.

METHODS: We used data from a US pediatric respiratory virus hospitalization surveillance network including children with ICU admission for acute respiratory failure (receiving high-flow oxygen or mechanical ventilation) with RSV and/or SARS-CoV-2 during November 2023-March 2024. Demographic, clinical characteristics, and hospitalization outcomes were stratified by a positive test for RSV, SARS-CoV-2, or both viruses, and compared using chi-squared or Kruskal-Wallis tests. Multivariable analyses assessed independent associations between outcomes and infection.

UNLABELLED: Multiple myeloma is a malignancy of clonally expanded plasma cells shaped by complex interactions with the immune microenvironment (IME). To investigate immune correlates of treatment response and disease progression, we conducted multi-omics profiling including CD138neg single-cell RNA sequencing of 243 bone marrow samples from 102 patients (631,226 cells) and CD138pos bulk RNA and whole-genome sequencing from 209 samples. In longitudinal analyses, interferon-γ signaling associated with markers of impaired T-cell memory after autologous stem cell transplant, whereas naïve B-cell abundance and immunoglobulin diversity correlated with improved progression-free survival (HR = 0.48; P = 2.3e-4). Background: Chronic low back pain (cLBP) is a prevalent and disabling condition in older adults. Auricular point acupressure (APA), a nonpharmacologic intervention, has shown promise in managing cLBP. However, its impact on daily symptom fluctuations remains unclear. Ecological momentary assessment (EMA), which collects real-time data, offers a method to capture these fluctuations.

Objective: This secondary analysis evaluated the effects of APA on EMA-reported pain intensity and pain interference among older adults with cLBP and examined associations among APA practice patterns, recall-based assessments, and EMA engagement.

This paper examined how vestibular and oculomotor dysfunction contributed to learning difficulties in children in grades K-12. This topic was selected due to both the association between physiological function and better academic performance and the researcher's personal interest in sport-based vestibular training as a possible intervention for children. Research sought to identify patterns among students with poor physiological function and to examine the outcomes of interventions targeting the vestibular and oculomotor systems. This innovative program began with the New Graduate Registered Nurse (NGRN) cohort completing an initial survey and reflection. In alignment with literature findings, program data revealed NGRNs experienced heightened levels of stress and anxiety related to academic disruptions, limited resources, sudden change, and uncertainty in the healthcare environment due to the pandemic^3,4. With guidance from evidence-based practice standards, key stakeholders identified an aim to enhance the well-being of NGRNs by adapting and incorporating the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN) Six Standards of healthy work environment. Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)–associated primary central nervous system lymphoproliferative diseases (EBV+PCNSL) are aggressive conditions with poor prognoses. We previously reported durable responses in patients with PCNSL who were treated with the antivirals ganciclovir and azidothymidine, plus rituximab and dexamethasone (GARD). Responses were associated with the detection of the lytic viral protein kinases, BGLF4 and BXLF1. These antiviral activating kinases are associated with lytic EBV, however, the mechanism for expression in latently infected EBV+CNSL is unknown. Expanding on previous work, we provide long-term clinical outcome data (N = 24) and show that RNA expression analysis in CNSL tissue biopsies (n = 12) …

RN burnout is largely associated with two predominant themes: perception of engagement in meaningful and motivating work and perception of personal ability to disconnect and decompress (Press Ganey, 2018). The techniques in this program guide people to experience work as a career and calling and find meaning in their work despite complex or difficult contexts. Maps are an essential tool to inform fire governance and management. For instance, they can highlight which areas are most vulnerable to adverse fire impacts or be used to plan interventions for risk reduction and prevention. In recent years, several studies have mapped the fire management activities and the networks between the multitude of involved actors. They build upon previous advances to combine quantitative and qualitative social network analysis with geographical analysis and cartography, aiming to highlight areas of opportunity to enhance fire governance. Fluorescence anisotropy and single-molecule orientation-localization microscopy (SMOLM) are powerful techniques that quantify the rotational diffusion of dipole-like emitters, which is important for sensing molecular interactions and chemical environments at the nanoscale. Numerous theoretical and experimental studies have thoroughly characterized single-molecule rotations even when those rotations are much faster than the detector integration time. Here, we extend the theory of measuring rotational diffusion to situations where a single dipole rotates uniformly everywhere outside of an isotropic cone of a certain size, termed a negative cone. This educational material presents a reusable tutoring prompt for general-purpose generative AI systems (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, Perplexity) designed to support personalized self-study. The prompt turns a chatbot into an adaptive self-testing engine: it asks a sequence of multiple-choice questions, waits for the learner’s response, provides brief feedback, and adjusts difficulty based on performance. While the approach can be adapted to many disciplines, the current implementation is tuned to College Physics 2e, Chapter 21 (Circuits and DC Instruments) and uses “formulas only” answer choices to emphasize symbolic reasoning and reduce reliance on verbal cues.
