Staff Education To Enhance Nursing Knowledge Of Central Line-Associated Bloodstream Infection Prevention Bundles On A Solid Organ Transplant Unit, Amina Cole-Kangbai Feb 2026

Staff Education To Enhance Nursing Knowledge Of Central Line-Associated Bloodstream Infection Prevention Bundles On A Solid Organ Transplant Unit, Amina Cole-Kangbai

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

I conducted this staff education quality improvement project to develop and implement an education program addressing nurses’ knowledge gaps on evidence-based, central line-associated bloodstream infection (CLABSI) prevention bundles on a solid organ transplant unit. CLABSIs are preventable infections disproportionately affecting immunocompromised transplant patients, increasing morbidity, mortality, and costs. Addressing this issue is critical because nurses provide frontline central line care, and their knowledge directly influences patient safety.

Education To Nursing Staff On Evidence-Based Lifestyle Interventions For Hypertension, Meagan Deese Feb 2026

Education To Nursing Staff On Evidence-Based Lifestyle Interventions For Hypertension, Meagan Deese

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

This Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) project was a staff education project that addressed a practice gap in a primary care setting related to limited nursing knowledge of evidence-based lifestyle interventions for hypertension management. Hypertension is a prevalent chronic condition and a major contributor to cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Although clinical guidelines recommend lifestyle modification as first-line management, nurses may receive limited formal training in nonpharmacologic interventions. The practice-focused question was, in a primary care setting, does a nursing education program on evidence-based lifestyle interventions for hypertension improve nursing knowledge as measured pre- to post education? The purpose of the …

Mutations Altering The Dna Binding Domains Of The Human Rad52 Protein Exert Distinct Effects On Homologous Recombination Repair In Saccharomyces Cerevisiae, Glenn M. Manthey, Elise W. Wolf, Jason Xu, M. Cristina Negritto, Renee A. Bouley, Ruben C. Petreaca, Adam M. Bailis

College of Health Professions Faculty Papers

RAD52 is a conserved member of the homologous recombination repair (HRR) apparatus from yeast to humans. Mutating conserved amino acids in the internal and external DNA binding domains of the human RAD52 protein (HsRAD52) has discrete effects in vitro. Previous studies have shown that HsRAD52 supports multiple mechanisms of HRR in budding yeast, suggesting the utility of this model system for exploring the correspondence between losses of HsRAD52 function in vitro and their impact in vivo. We report that disrupting the internal and external DNA binding domains of HsRAD52 produced distinct effects on the repair of genomic DNA double-strand breaks …

In this study, a single hepatitis C virus (HCV) RNA at 2-6 months was sensitive and specific (86.7% and 95% confidence interval [CI], 62.1%-96.3% and 100% and 95% CI, 98.8%-100%, respectively) in identifying perinatal transmission of HCV. No cases of perinatal infection requiring treatment were missed.

Statistical Guarantees Of Deep Generative Models Involving Diverse Spaces: Generation Consistency And Robustness, Anish Chakrabarty Feb 2026

Statistical Guarantees Of Deep Generative Models Involving Diverse Spaces: Generation Consistency And Robustness, Anish Chakrabarty

Doctoral Theses

Generative modeling focuses on the task of producing new data samples that closely resemble those drawn from an original, unknown distribution. Despite being well-known in statistical estimation theory, the approach has gained substantial traction in recent years, driven by groundbreaking results in areas such as image synthesis, natural language generation, and network modeling. The complexity of modern-era data domains and the ensuing adaptations that suitable models must undergo have presented new challenges. These advances raise several fundamental questions, the first of which is: When do generative models accurately approximate the true data distribution? One may also ask: How well do …

Cash Or Crash: Return To Player Percentages And Expected Value Of Crash Games, Robert H. Scott Iii, Mikhail M. Sher, Jonathan Daigle

UNLV Gaming Research & Review Journal

Crash games are a new type of casino game offered on some online gambling sites. The first crash game was created by the online cryptocurrency casino Bustabit. Other cryptocurrency casinos started offering their own versions of crash games. Now mainstream online casinos have developed their own crash games—notably Rocket by DraftKings. Crash games are easy to learn and play. They offer the opportunity to increase your bet by many hundreds of multiples—though, as we show when deriving expected values, these outcomes are rare. In this paper, we study the history of crash games and calculate theoretical values of crash game …
