Background: Effective pain management is essential for improving quality of life at the end of life. However, challenges persist globally, particularly in China, where palliative care remains underdeveloped. This study investigates pain prevalence and the associations between pain severity, place of death, and the quality of pain management among older adults in China, with a focus on regional and urban-rural disparities.

Methods: We used data from the 2014, 2016, 2018, and 2020 waves of the China Longitudinal Aging Social Survey. The final sample included 1,525 older adults who died during the study period. We conducted OLS regression analyses to examine …

This article explores how digital recording practices, amid contemporary technological transformation, rearticulate the musical meaning of karawitan, reshape listening experience, and reorganize its modes of cultural circulation. The study is situated within broader scholarly debates on digital mediation, particularly concerning the shifting relationship between recorded sound and the socio-spatial and ritual contexts that have historically constituted karawitan performance. The aspects of translation acceptability are not related only to the accuracy and clarity of the translation. They also cover the naturalness of translation. This study aims to reveal the degree of translation naturalness of the Quranic imperative verses. This evaluative study compares the translations of the verses by the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia (MORA) and the one made by Muhammad Thalib (MT). Purpose: Medical schools play a crucial role in preparing future doctors to address the health needs of patients and their communities. Graduates are expected to provide socially accountable care by upholding values such as relevance, equity, quality, and cost- effectiveness. This study explores how these values are understood and applied by medical graduates trained in problem-based learning (PBL) curricula. Methods: A cross-sectional online survey was conducted among University of Sharjah medical graduates to assess their exposure to and practice of social accountability values. Background

Medicare annual wellness visits (AWVs) are vital for older adults' preventive care, which was transitioned to telehealth modalities during COVID-19. This study examined primary care providers' perceptions of telehealth-delivered AWVs and explored the factors influencing telehealth implementation using the Practical Robust Implementation and Sustainability Model (PRISM).

Participants and Setting

Twenty-five primary care providers from eight clinics within an integrated health system in the Midwestern United States were interviewed. Eligibility required having conducted at least one telehealth AWV for patients aged 65 or older between March 2023 and October 2023.

Maintenance of bone mass is coordinated with adipose tissue function through the secretion of hormones and endocrine factors that act on the opposing tissue. Sclerostin, a small glycoprotein produced by osteocytes embedded within the bone matrix, potently suppresses bone formation by antagonizing Wnt/β-catenin signaling while stimulating adipose tissue accumulation via the same mechanism of action. Since sclerostin-deficient mice develop pockets of multilocular adipocytes in subcutaneous adipose, we investigate the influence of sclerostin on thermogenic and β3-adrenergic stimuli-induced white adipose tissue beiging. Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) is the most common neurodegenerative disorder and the leading cause of dementia characterised by the accumulation of beta amyloid (Aβ) plaques and neurofibrillary tangles (NFT). Several monoclonal antibodies against amyloid in early AD have shown the utility of reducing brain amyloid in large phase 3 studies, resulting in modest clinical benefit. To further slow, or even halt disease progression, targeting additional pathobiological pathways is likely to be necessary. International Journal of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education

This study examines college students’ perceptions of AI Teaching Assistants (AITAs) in higher education, focusing on their communication experiences and expectations. Using qualitative data from (n=89) open-ended survey responses, six key themes emerged, spanning differences in information processing, social interaction, and task efficiency. Students appreciated AITAs for their speed, availability, and potential to provide unbiased feedback, yet expressed concerns about accuracy and trustworthiness. While AITAs were seen as approachable for simple or low-stakes inquiries, students emphasized the importance of human instructors for complex, nuanced, or emotional support. The findings highlight a preference for maintaining human connections in education while leveraging …

This article outlines the main stages of speech production and inventories the types of errors that can disrupt oral communication, drawing on psycholinguistic research, particularly Eric Keller. It emphasizes that speaking—although seemingly effortless and continuous—relies on complex operations: message conceptualization, lexical selection, semantic and syntactic encoding, phonological and morphological encoding, and articulation. The paper reviews common error types (stuttering, repetitions, pauses, slips of the tongue) and discusses their effects on message transmission. It also shows how such errors provide useful evidence for understanding the organization of the mental lexicon and the mechanisms underlying language processing.

This article analyzes the translation of Moroccan Arabic proverbs into French through the lens of cultural mediation. By postulating that « translating a proverb is translating a culture, » we explore the challenges posed by fixed units whose often metaphorical meaning is inseparable from specific sociocultural referents (rites, traditional trades, hagiographic figures).
