When Type-II hybrid censoring is used on two samples in a combined manner, the exact inference for two exponential populations is developed in this paper. The two unknown exponential mean parameters’ conditional maximum likelihood and Bayesian estimators are determined. The maximum likelihood estimators’ conditional moment generating functions and conditional exact distributions are then calculated. For the unknown parameters, the exact, approximate, and Bayes credible confidence intervals are also constructed. This study developed the Nadarajah Haghighi generalised power Weibull (NHGPW) distribution by compounding the Nadarajah Haghighi and the generalised power Weibull distribution. Various statistical properties of this new distribution are derived for the new distribution. Estimators of the parameters of the developed distribution are also derived using the maximum likelihood estimation. The hazard rate function of the NHGPW distribution has been shown to be monotonically increasing, monotonically decreasing, constant, bathtub, upside down bathtub (unimodal), modified bathtub or modified unimodal. Its probability density function also exhibits various shapes such as decreasing-increasing, decreasing, increasing, increasing-decreasing, decreasing-increasing- decreasing, increasing-decreasing-increasing, positively skewed among others. …

Subdivision is one of the most important aspects of graph theory as it enables us to calculate the properties of some complicated graphs using some of the easier graphs. To understand the different properties of chemicals, laboratory tests must be performed, and this is extremely expensive. To overcome this problem, many topological indices in theoretical chemistry have been introduced and defined. In this paper, we calculate the eccentric Zagreb indices for the subdivision graphs of some graphs. Also, these indices were examined in their predictability of the boiling point of the chemical compounds.

Previously, we reported that 3H-1,2-dithiole-3-thione (D3T), an Nrf2 activator, acted as a potential chemoprotectant against lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced mortality in mice. In view of the critical involvement of macrophages in the pathogenesis of LPS-induced endotoxemia, in the present study, we investigated the protective effects of D3T on LPS-induced proinflammatory responses in cultured murine RAW 264.7 macrophage cell line and primary peritoneal macrophages and the potential involvement of antioxidant induction, NF-κB, and Nrf2. Primary ductal adenocarcinoma of the lacrimal gland is a rare, aggressive malignancy that clinically and histologically resembles salivary duct carcinoma. Similar to other malignant epithelial lacrimal gland tumors, ductal adenocarcinoma typically presents with unilateral proptosis, pain, upper eyelid swelling, palpable mass, diplopia, ptosis, and blurred or decreased vision. Rarely, primary malignant epithelial lacrimal gland tumors may first present with multiple cranial neuropathies due to occult spread to the cavernous sinus, as in this case. Ideally, this would reduce the leaders’ anxiety and would promote a stronger willingness to be involved in offering support to military veterans in their congregations. Kidney transplant (KT) recipients face post-transplant health issues. Immunosuppressive agents can cause hyperlipidemia, hypertension, post-transplant diabetes, and glomerulopathy. Post-transplant weight gain and decreased activity are associated with poor quality of life, sleep, and cardiometabolic outcomes. This study will test the feasibility and acceptability of a culturally tailored diet and exercise intervention for KT patients delivered immediately post-transplant using novel technology. A registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN) and physical rehabilitation therapist will examine participants' cultural background, preferences, and health-related obstacles (with consultation from the transplant team) to create an individualized exercise and meal plan. Post-transcriptional gene silencing (PTGS), also termed as RNA interference (RNAi) possess a great therapeutic potential. Three siRNA-based products have been recently approved that have developed a renewed interest in the scientific community to explore this alternative therapeutic area rigorously. However, several challenges are limiting their use as a widespread therapeutic agent. The limitations include their membrane impermeability, short half-life, elimination by the kidney, entrapment by the reticuloendothelial system, sequestration by plasma proteins, endosomal trap, and off-target effects.

SARS-CoV-2 variants of concern (VOCs) continue to pose a public health threat which necessitates a real-time monitoring strategy to complement whole genome sequencing. Thus, we investigated the efficacy of competitive probe RT-qPCR assays for six mutation sites identified in SARS-CoV-2 VOCs and, after validating the assays with synthetic RNA, performed these assays on positive saliva samples. When compared with whole genome sequence results, the SD69-70 and ORF1aD3675-3677 assays demonstrated 93.60 and 68.00% accuracy, respectively. The SNP assays (K417T, E484K, E484Q, L452R) demonstrated 99.20, 96.40, 99.60, and 96.80% accuracies, respectively. Lastly, we screened 345 positive saliva samples from 7 to 22 …

Objectives: To explore how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected hiring and onboarding practices in academic libraries.

Methods: An embedded mixed-methods approach, utilizing grounded theory, was used to develop an online survey to identify changes that occurred in hiring and onboarding practices in academic libraries resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants were hiring managers (including human resources staff, library administration, search committee chairs, or library supervisors) in an academic library setting. Invitations to participate were sent to multiple academic library listservs and social media groups.
