The selective and efficient transformation of hydrocarbon feedstocks is of high value for industry and research. While Shilov-type organometallic methods have facilitated this goal, systems designed after nature’s use of cheap and abundant iron-based enzymes are desired for wider-scale applications. This work establishes hydrocarbon oxidation efficiency of synthetic pyridine-based ligands (BPMEN, BPMPN) compared to commercially available TPA with in situ generated catalysts. Literature studies of traditionally synthesized BPMEN systems and initial in situ studies offered evidence for enhanced reactivity (TON) as compared to TPA. When the Texas State Legislature began to look for a location for their new state normal school, the people of the East Texas town fought to have it built there and the Stephen F. Austin Teacher’s College opened its doors in September 1923 to a proud community. Traditional methods of math instruction have been consistently linked to students having negative feelings about math, as well as decreased motivation and engagement during math instruction. This study investigated how arts integration, specifically integrating pop music, impacted students’ attitudes about math and students’ motivation and engagement during math instruction in a fifth-grade classroom. This study was mixed methods, with quantitative data collected through an adapted version of a student dispositions survey to assess students’ attitudes, motivation, and engagement, and qualitative data collected through a short response question about how students feel music impacted their math experiences. The Bloomsbury Group was known for unconventionality, both in their lives and in their writing. This holds especially true for E.M. Forster and Virginia Woolf, whose novels uniquely depict queer relationships as an alternative to traditional, rigid, heterosexual marriages. This paper looks at Clarissa and Richard from Mrs. Dalloway, Margaret and Henry from Howards End, and Maurice and Alec from Maurice and how each of these couples subvert the societal conventions of the Victorian era in different ways. A close reading of these texts and characters allows for a nuanced understanding of Woolf and Forster’s revolutionary visions and demonstrates how …

Teacher Work Sample: Telling Time, Courtney R. Hallam

Three local elementary students were identified as performing below grade-level and receiving special education services, using direct instruction with a scripted program. The students cannot tell time using classroom clocks. The teacher created a five-day unit to teach telling time to the nearest hour and half-hour. Lesson plans were created and implemented using evidence-based practices (EBPs), including explicit instruction, modeling, and response cards. Students were able to successfully complete formative and summative assessments with scores indicating mastery. Implications and suggestions for future teaching are presented.

The Take It All Tailgate Wagon: From Concept Through Prototype Development, Carly Huguley

This text outlines the design process of the Take it All Tailgate from concept design through two prototyping stages. The Take it All Tailgate was designed for the every gameday tailgater who has a lot of tailgating equipment to haul from their vehicle to the tailgating area. With this in mind, a team of five members designed a wheeled storage space that also acts as a table in the tailgating area. Lean manufacturing was implemented to improve the build process and the overall design of the storage wagon.

My honors thesis criticizes representations of the female nude and advocates for diverse expression of the female body. The research encompasses two series of artwork and a written component examining and reflecting upon the artwork. The first series is Venus of Fruit, which assesses past depictions and associations of the female nude specifically objectification and sexualization in western art. The sculptures are four cast bronze nude figures within an apple, a banana, and a pineapple. The figures are Venuses trapped within nature, beauty, fertility, and sexualization. This study examined how the quality of a sexual assault medical forensic exam, or SAMFE, affects the well-being outcomes of sexual assault victims. A SAMFE is used to collect forensic evidence and provide comprehensive care to victims. Furthermore, SAMFEs are typically collected by a specially trained Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) or medical practitioner. It was hypothesized that a more trauma-informed and victim-centered SAMFE allowed victims to have better physical, psychological, and social well-being outcomes. Purpose/Background Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) contribute to patient dissatisfaction, discomfort, adverse outcomes, and increased healthcare costs. Despite current protocols that aim to reduce PONV by prevention/antiemetic administration, PONV continues to be a common manifestation in many postoperative patients (Elvir-Lazo et al., 2020). This scoping review aimed to analyze available research on the efficacy of dexmedetomidine to reduce perioperative opioid requirements and PONV.

Throughout the years, researchers have investigated the various advantages that may exist of being bilingual; however, it is unknown how switching between languages affects a person’s basic perception of speech sounds. The goal of this thesis was to determine whether Spanish-English bilinguals respond to auditory stimuli differently based on the language in which they receive task instructions. Participants were randomly assigned to receive instructions and complete the study entirely in English or Spanish, thus thinking in the language that they were assigned.
