This paper presents an experimental study on the fabrication of a TiWMo refractory medium-entropy alloy (RMEA) using laser powder bed fusion (PBF-LB/M, commonly known as selective laser melting) from elemental powders as well as successful alloy formation on titanium substrates. The effects of tungsten particle size and process parameters on successful TiWMo RMEA fabrication have been explored using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), x-ray diffraction, hardness measurement and microstructural analysis. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) analysis revealed that the lowest percentage (0.01%) of unmelted tungsten particles was observed at a laser power of 350 W and scanning speed of 250 mm/s, particularly …

Toll-like receptor 8 (TLR8) gain-of-function (GOF) somatic variants were recently identified as causing severe neutropenia, lymphoproliferation, and immune dysregulation. We report the expanded clinical and laboratory phenotype and management of 10 patients, including the original cohort of 6 male patients. We identify the first female patient with TLR8 GOF who presented during infancy with pure red cell aplasia due to a germ line TLR8 variant, and 2 new disease-causing somatic variants in male patients. Eight patients had somatic mosaicism with peripheral blood variant allele fractions of 7% to 26%, and age of disease onset of 9 months to 28 years. …

In the Philippines, plastic waste persists as a significant issue caused by the widespread use of single-use plastics and the lack of recycling systems. A Division Bench of the Supreme Court in Bar of Indian Lawyers v DK Gandhi concluded on 14 May 2024 that advocates are covered by a contract of personal service; thereby, no professional negligence or deficiency in service by advocates can be said to arise under the Consumer Protection Act 1986/2019. This study addresses the increasing threat of deepfake media by developing   “Defaketicon” an educational website designed to raise awareness among senior high school STEM Technology students at Adamson University. The primary objective is to evaluate the students’ perceptions of the website in terms of performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, and facilitating conditions. Using a convergent mixed-method approach, the researchers conducted a non-experimental descriptive design for the quantitative data and a narrative inquiry for the qualitative aspect. Background: The present study aimed to systematically develop and validate a robust, rapid, and stability-indicating reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) method for the simultaneous estimation of metformin and glimepiride in fixeddose combination tablets. Method development was guided by a design of experiments (DoE) approach using the Box-Behnken design (BBD) to ensure optimal analytical performance.

Journal of Issues in Intercollegiate Athletics

The rapid expansion of name, image, and likeness (NIL) opportunities has reshaped the U.S. college sport landscape, yet limited research has examined how NIL engagement affects athlete identity and well-being. This study investigates the relationships among NIL engagement, identity salience, and stress. Survey data were collected from 351 Division I athletes across four major conferences. Regression analyses indicated that greater NIL commitment was associated with heightened athlete identity salience and increased NIL-related stress. Globalization has significantly impacted economies worldwide, presenting both business opportunities and challenges. In the Philippines, Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are vital economic drivers. However, despite their importance, MSMEs often face systemic barriers such as limited capital, restricted market access, and insufficient institutional support. This study investigated the impact of self-ordering kiosks on customers' satisfaction in two fast-food chains in Baguio City, focusing on three aspects: user-friendliness, screen design, and technical issues. Technologies like self-ordering kiosks are becoming more popular than the previous years. Thus, restaurants are implementing them to improve restaurant operations and service. Self-ordering kiosks have a large touchscreen that allows customers to place orders, customize, and pay for their meals with minimal or no employee involvement.
