This doctor of nursing practice (DNP) project was a practice-focused quality improvement (QI) staff education initiative designed to address recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs) among middle-aged and older women receiving care in a low-income community clinic. Recurrent UTIs are associated with increased antibiotic use, antimicrobial resistance, and reduced quality of life. The purpose of this project was to evaluate whether a structured staff education program could improve provider knowledge related to patient counseling on UTI prevention. Medication nonadherence in bipolar disorder is a significant contributor to relapse, hospitalization, and functional decline. This doctor of nursing practice (DNP) staff education project addressed a practice gap at the project site involving inconsistent clinician knowledge and absence of a standardized approach to adherence education. Workplace electrical safety programs help reduce injuries and fatalities, yet some U.S. electrical leaders who manage safety programs and oversee safety issues lack effective strategies to sustain safe environments to reduce electrical accidents. Grounded in Heinrich’s incident/accident pyramid theory and behavior-based safety theory, this qualitative pragmatic inquiry explored strategies used by six electrical leaders who successfully reduced workplace incidents. Data were collected through semistructured interviews and document analysis and analyzed using Castleberry and Nolen’s inductive thematic approach. Patient falls remain a major patient safety concern, particularly among hospitalized stroke patients who are at increased risk because of impaired mobility, neurological deficits, and cognitive changes. The inpatient stroke unit selected for this quality improvement project consistently reported the highest fall rates within the hospital system, highlighting the need for evidence-based interventions. The purpose of this project was to determine whether a structured fall-prevention education program incorporating evidence-based practices and the 4Ps of purposeful rounding (pain, potty, position, and possessions) would improve staff knowledge, increase compliance with fallprevention practices, and reduce patient falls over a 2-month period. Workplace loneliness is a growing organizational challenge as the rise of distributed teams reshapes opportunities for social connection and engagement. Business leaders need to understand this challenge because it is associated with reduced belonging, lower job satisfaction, diminished productivity, and increased turnover intentions. The purpose of this quantitative correlational study was to examine the extent to which distributed team environments (remote, hybrid, or flexible) impacted workplace loneliness and whether social connectedness moderated this relationship. The development of reliable hydrogel-based scaffolds for extrusion bioprinting remains limited by the poor structural fidelity of low-viscosity bioinks and the lack of robust, high-throughput quality evaluation methods. This dissertation can resolve such challenges by developing the combination of optimized hydrogel formulations, cryogenic-assisted bioprinting, and artificial intelligence (AI)-based scaffold evaluation to the use of tissue engineering and preclinical cancer modelling applications. To assess the rheological behavior, printability, mechanical properties, and biocompatibility of the alginate – gelatin (Alg–Gel) system, a novel system of hydrogel was developed and characterized using Alg–Gel hydrogel system. The prevalence of remote work environments has created challenges for small and medium enterprise (SME) healthcare leaders who must sustain workforce productivity while increasing employee engagement. Declining employee engagement affects not only productivity but also organizational effectiveness and profitability. The purpose of this qualitative pragmatic inquiry research project was to identify and explore the effective strategies that some leaders of remote SME healthcare workforces use to improve employee engagement. Malaria during pregnancy is a significant public health issue in Cameroon, affecting maternal health and birth outcomes. Despite preventive measures, disparities exist among socioeconomic groups and between urban and rural areas. The study was guided by the social-ecological model and explored how socioeconomic factors and geographic location influence malaria infection in pregnant women. Specifically, the impact of wealth index, maternal education, and healthcare access on infection rates, considering maternal age, parity, and residence, was examined. Background: There is an estimated shortage of 16,000 nurses entering the workforce annually.1 Additionally, roughly 23% of existing nurses are scheduled to retire within five years.2 In the rural state of this study, only 76% of nursing positions are filled.3 The ongoing shortage is further exacerbated through national challenges in numbers of nursing school applications, acceptance, enrollment, and completion.4 Despite these challenges, there is a strong interest in pursuing a nursing career.5 Innovative approaches are needed to address these longstanding workforce issues. Purpose: This evidence-based quality improvement project is aimed to implement and evaluate a self-care resilience program designed to improve work-life balance and self-care management for bedside nurses working 12-hour shifts in an acute care hospital. High rates of burnout and turnover among this population threaten both nurse health and patient care quality.
Methods: Guided by the principles in "Self-Care for New and Student Nurses" (Fontaine et al.), an 8-week program was developed and piloted with 50 medical-surgical nurses. Increased costs associated with wildfire activity in the Western United States has raised concern about the long term stability of homeowners insurance. One popular approach to reducing the risk of catastrophic wildfire is the completion of Firewise behaviors on residential properties. I explored homeowner experiences with homeowners insurance, and asked if rising insurance premiums and policy non-renewals are affecting homeowners' Firewise behaviors. West Nile virus (WNV) is an uncommon but serious case of encephalitis and meningitis, often presenting with nonspecific symptoms that can mimic a wide range of infectious, metabolic, and endocrine disorders. We present the case of a 61-year-old male with multiple comorbidities who arrived with 5 days of fever, chills, profuse diarrhea, black stools, and worsening confusion. Initial evaluation in the emergency department revealed hyponatremia, transaminitis, and concern for tick-borne illness, prompting empiric doxycycline. However, the patient denied any tick bites. Given his known thyroid nodule and Burch-Wartofsky screening score of 70, he was empirically treated for thyroid storm despite …

Indolent pulmonary adenocarcinoma spectrum lesions can remain radiographically stable for years and often demonstrate little to no fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) uptake on positron emission tomography (PET), making diagnosis and management challenging. We report the case of a 74-year-old Caucasian woman with a remote five-year smoking history and a strong family history of lung cancer who was followed for a persistent right upper lobe ground-glass pulmonary nodule. Despite gradual enlargement, PET imaging performed seven years later demonstrated no significant FDG uptake. Serial computed tomography (CT) scans over the following years showed slow progression from a pure ground-glass nodule to a mixed ground-glass …
