One of the five basic agreements in the constitutional amendment is to strengthen the presidential system. However, the legislative practices that have been running so far tend to move away from the character of legislation in the presidential system itself. This paper tries to suggest the dynamics of the legislative model that runs after the 2002 constitutional amendment. At the same time, it will discuss how the legislative process should be carried out in a presidential system of government and its comparison with the legislative process in a parliamentary system of government.
Exploring Communication In Healthcare Through Decision-Making Interventions And A Novel Measure Of Clinician Spoken Plain Language, Renata W. Yen
Exploring Communication In Healthcare Through Decision-Making Interventions And A Novel Measure Of Clinician Spoken Plain Language, Renata W. Yen
Dartmouth College Ph.D Dissertations
Statement of the Problem
Good communication in clinical encounters is a key component of quality healthcare. Improving clinician communication would benefit all populations, however patients with lower health literacy or who are socially disadvantaged stand to benefit the most due to the complex content in clinical encounters. Shared decision-making can improve outcomes, but shared decision-making cannot occur without good clinician communication. In this dissertation, I reviewed interventions for facilitating shared decision-making for socially disadvantaged patients. Then, I examined the use of spoken plain language, or clinician use of familiar, clear verbal language when communicating with patients, and developed a prototype …

Inspiration is a strange beast. Where does it come from? Often when I hear someone sing a song, I am inspired by it and want to learn it. It speaks to me somehow. Just as often, though, I’ll look through a book and find something that looks glorious that I want to try. Other times inspiration comes from a conversation, a joke, or some other shared experience. This program is inspired by our shared experiences with the love of God. Fanny Crosby, blind since six-weeks old, perhaps saw the “visions of rapture” of God’s presence better than any of the …

Secure Reconfigurable Computing Paradigms For The Next Generation Of Artificial Intelligence And Machine Learning Applications, Brooks Olney
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
The fields of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) have been popular tools for data analysis at the edge, particularly through complex deep and convolutional neural networks (DNNs/CNNs), which can learn to parameterize a function given a labeled dataset. Indeed, these technologies have enabled significant progress across a wide range of fields and are becoming ubiquitous. However, training the best model for an application and subsequently using them to evaluate data in real-time requires an immense amount of computational power. Typically, ``smart" sensors at the edge rely on the cloud to accelerate this computation due to power and compute …

The Asymmetric Exchange Rate Pass-Through To Inflation In The Selected Asean Countries, Agus Widarjono, Md Mahmudul Alam, Eko Atmadji, Priyonggo Suseno, Listya Endang Artiani
Bulletin of Monetary Economics and Banking
This study explains the asymmetric Exchange Rate Pass-Through (ERPT) to inflation in Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines, which adopted the floating exchange rate after the 1998 financial crisis. Our empirical results show the existence of the long-run asymmetric ERPT to inflation such that there is no full transmission of depreciation to inflation in each country. The highest degree of ERPT to inflation occurred in Indonesia, while in Malaysia, and the Philippines depreciation (appreciation) is not completely transmitted in the short run. We find that a depreciation has a stronger impact on inflation than appreciation.

Development Of Automated Ph Controller System For Nft Hydroponic, Mohammad Syakir Mokhtar, Mahanijah Md Kamal
Platform: A Journal of Engineering (PAJE)
In a hydroponics system, pH level is one of the most important parameters that affect the way plants respond to a hydroponic nutrient solution. The range of pH levels depends on the type of plants in the hydroponic system. The plant can uptake nutrients efficiently if the nutrient solution needs to be consistently controlled within the pH range. It is important to ensure a balanced pH level in nutrient solutions to maintain the proper growth of plants. Therefore, the pH level in the nutrient solution will automatically be controlled in this Arduino-based system. A mini NFT hydroponic system was used …

Correlation To Predict Wax Appearance Temperature And Characterisation Of Crude Oil, Willynna Lamban Donny, Aliyu Adebayo Sulaimon
Platform: A Journal of Engineering (PAJE)
Wax precipitation in oil pipelines and industrial equipment is a severe concern in the petroleum sector as it can cause well bores to block and reduces the efficiency of oil/gas production and transportation processes. The solid particles (wax) will increase the pressure drop in the tubing and eventually cause plugging. Thus, predicting the Wax Appearance Temperature (WAT) is crucial, the temperature at which the first wax droplets are discovered. Gamma Distribution Function (GDF) parameters were used to develop a characterisation to determine the nature of hydrocarbon mixtures. The parameters of GDF were calculated using the characterisation developed in Python. The …

Investigation Into Magnetic Drive Sealless Pump Failure 3 Flare Gas Recovery Unit (Fgru), M Farid Yahya, M Faiz Malek, Reduan Mat Dan
Platform: A Journal of Engineering (PAJE)
Failure investigation was conducted on magnetic drive centrifugal sealless pumps that had only been operating for six months and were already struggling to rotate. It was discovered that hydrocarbon sludge and other debris had blocked the lubricating channel, which was meant to provide pathways for cooling and lubricating the pump's inner magnetic and containment shell. Further investigation revealed that service water had contaminated the process fluid, precipitating calcium carbonate upon contact with the amine solution and clogging the flushing line. An additional duplex strainer was installed on the repaired pumps, and adequate precautions were taken to prevent water contamination

Introduction: Stroke is the third leading cause of death in the Philippines, so these patients must continuously undergo rehabilitation for faster recovery. With the rise of COVID-19, physical therapy (PT) telerehabilitation (TR) has emerged, where services are provided outside the usual rehabilitation setting for patients with stroke to continue their treatment while reducing the risk of acquiring COVID-19. However, it is a relatively new service in the country; hence, further research is needed to identify the factors and needs of these patients during TR, which may help improve PT TR services.
Objective: This study aims to explore the experiences …

Nassau grouper (Epinephelus striatus, Serranidae) were one of the most important fishery species in the Caribbean, but are now listed as critically endangered. Population collapse in most places occurred primarily by fishers targeting their spawning aggregation sites, where thousands of fish gathered during full moon periods from December to April. Identifying management options for protecting this vulnerable period is crucial for their survival. In the US Virgin Islands, we tagged 24 Nassau grouper with acoustic transmitters at a fish spawning aggregation (FSA) site called the Grammanik Bank, a 1.5 km2, marine protected area (MPA) closed each year from …

INTRODUCTION: Standard-of-care systemic chemotherapies for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) currently have limited clinical benefits, in addition to causing adverse side effects in many patients. One factor known to contribute to the poor chemotherapy response is the poor drug diffusion into PDAC tumors. Novel treatment methods are therefore drastically needed to improve targeted delivery of treatments. Here, we evaluated the efficacy of the 3DNA® Nanocarrier (3DNA) platform to direct delivery of therapeutics to PDAC tumors in vivo.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: A panel of PDAC cell lines and a patient tissue microarray were screened for established tumor-specific proteins to identify targeting moieties …

Background: Prenatal Alcohol Exposure (PAE) occurs when an expecting mother consumes alcohol. PAE will lead to children to develop fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASDs), which are a group of conditions that can include a wide range of physical deformities and/or intellectual disabilities. Glial cells such as oligodendrocyte precursor cells (OPCs) are responsible for generating oligodendrocytes to myelinate neuronal axons, which is essential for proper conduction of action potentials. Studies in both humans and animal models showed that decrease myelination in the brain are prominent features of PAE. In this project, we propose that pups exposed to ethanol at the third …
