Early Vs Late Referrals To Nephrology And Its Effect On Patient Outcomes In End-Stage Renal Disease (Esrd) Patients Who Are On Renal Replacement Therapy (Rrt) A Retrospective Chart Review, Tricia Brown

Doctor of Nursing Practice Scholarly Projects

End-stage renal disease may greatly affect a patient’s overall health and outcomes. This project aimed to look at early versus late nephrology referrals. A retrospective chart review of patient’s demographic and health outcome data was reviewed through a patient’s electronic health record. The patient data from the chart review, along with the evidence obtained from the review of the literature has been utilized to describe findings and develop evidence-based practice-guided recommendations for nephrology referrals in clinical practice. This project has been completed at a dialysis center in rural Ohio. The patient population included around 60 patients who had dialysis at …

Ohio Forensic Nurse Examiners: Readiness To Care For Victims Of Sexual Assault With Disability, Deanna Nicole Smith

Doctor of Nursing Practice Scholarly Projects

Forensic nurse examiners (FNEs) care for crime victims in acute care settings. These nurses are specifically trained in trauma-informed care and evidence collection in cases of sexual assault, domestic violence, abuse, and human trafficking (RAINN, 2022). The scholarly project focuses on the care of victims of sexual assault living with disability, as this population is three times more likely to be victimized than any other population (NSVRC, 2022). The project literature review reveals a lack of data on preparation standards for FNEs on caring for victims with disability and providing accommodations during forensic examination. Currently, it is unknown if FNEs …

Which Stroke Next? All Strokes Next! Part Two: Strokes For Intermediate And Advanced Swimmers, Robert Keig Stallman, Ebbe L. Horneman, Nils O. Vikander, Alexander Mwaipasi, Bente W. H. Laakso, Haakon - Paavo L. Nysted, Toni Ongala

International Journal of Aquatic Research and Education

The primary goal of this two-part project is to answer the rhetorical question of which strokes should be taught first, and which later (Langendorfer, 2013, Stallman, 2014a). As you have seen in Part One, we emphasize (as have many others) the need for a firm foundation before any stroke is introduced. When the learner is ready for propulsive motor competencies, there is no stroke which suits all as their first. In Part One we explored the “beginning strokes” all of which are candidates for any given learner’s first stroke. We also argued that after mastering their very first stroke the …

This study seeks to explore one of INCMHA’s funded agencies and determine, based on their outcome data and evaluation …

Only 2000 Psi Of Bottom-Time Air: A Case Study Of Diveheart Participant Social Capital, Kirk J. Williams Apr 2023

Only 2000 Psi Of Bottom-Time Air: A Case Study Of Diveheart Participant Social Capital, Kirk J. Williams

Nonprofit and NGO Studies Student Projects

Social capital development for many, but not all, is a relatively organic process, and as social creatures, people work together to reach collective goals. The defined interactions related to the practices of societal norms, taboos, and broad cultural acceptance are constructs of communal decisions lending deep credence to the value of any number of the social capital definitions. However, opportunities are not always readily available to individuals living with disabilities, so they can and do get left out to varied degrees. With unsurprising results, previous research relied on comparing survey data from individuals with and without disabilities to identify possible …

Thrifting Your Way To The Bank: How Student Consumption Of Recycled Clothing Impacts Financial Stability, Ally Mikos

Nonprofit and NGO Studies Student Projects

This qualitative study examines the impact that is made upon university student’s finances when purchasing recycled clothing. It analyzes how utilizing recycled, free or reduced price clothing sources affects student finances as compared to full price/new purchases. Previous research has indicated that two thirds of college students have acquired debt by the time of graduation, yet students have been found to spend as much as $1,000 on clothing per semester. Despite the clear financial burden of paying for college, students still prioritize shopping for clothing, which prompts the research question: To what extent does college student’s use of recycled clothing …

Herpetofauna And Tarantula Avoidance: A Missouri Glades Location Survey, Zach Pfeiffer, Becky Hansis-O'Neill, Aimee Dunlap Dr

Undergraduate Research Symposium

Missouri glades are home to a variety of herpetofauna and one species of tarantula: Aphonopelma hentzi (Texas brown tarantula). These animals traverse through their environment very differently. Herpetofauna tend to travel in search of food, while tarantulas are usually restricted to foraging in areas very close to their burrows. Due to this contrast, and because of potential predator-prey relationships, I wanted to see if there was a pattern in the distances between these two groupings. To do this I conducted a location survey to determine how far each individual was from the nearest spider. After analyzing the data, it was …

Understanding The Impact Of Social-Environmental Context On The Relationship Between Drinking Motives And Drinking Frequency, Janiah Henderson, Ian A. Mcnamara, Ryan Carpenter

Undergraduate Research Symposium

Several studies have shown that drinking motives are a common and proximal pathway to alcohol use, which is in turn linked to long-term health risks such as chronic disease and cancer. The present study builds on earlier research by examining how drinking alone modifies the relationship between drinking motives and frequency of alcohol consumption. Cross-sectional data were collected from undergraduate students (n = 153) at the University of Missouri - St. Louis through an online Qualtrics survey. Participants (mage = 24.42) were largely female (71.9%) and white (71.9%). Linear regression was conducted in RStudio 4.2. RESULTS: In univariate models coping-anxiety, …

Self-Care Rates Among Undergraduate Human Services Students, Michelle Kelley Shuler Dr.

Journal of Human Services: Training, Research, and Practice

For students enrolled in undergraduate human services programs, self-care can be a strategy for managing the stress and strains of academic life. However, few studies investigate the self-care practices of students enrolled in these educational programs. This study looks at the rate human services undergraduate students engage in self-care practices and considers how exploring these self-care practices can contribute to the knowledge base of future students related to this topic. Findings reveal the types of self-care behaviors most often engaged in and at what rate students practiced these behaviors. More studies are needed to examine the self-care practices of students …

The Two-Way Protective Regime Of Intangible Cultural Heritage In Armed Conflict : Application Of Modern Laws In Amalgamation With Earlier Vedic Traditions., Shivesh Saini

Indonesia Law Review

The destruction of property has been dealt with in different conventions across International Humanitarian Law. These regulations, however, demand more clarity in light of constantly evolving warfare methods. One such aspect is the protection of digital intangible assets in several forms of armed conflict. The existing protection conferred to intangible assets is questionable and has been very little addressed in light of international law in contrast with tangible assets. Therefore, the paper seeks to demonstrate the enforceability of existing principles over intangible assets. In addition, there is explicit dependability of protection of these intangible cultural assets on cyber security. The …
