Anime Popularity In The Market Place: Why Choose Anime Over Cartoons, Nicholas Morrow
USF St. Petersburg campus Honors Program Theses (Undergraduate)
This thesis explores the growing popularity of anime in the global entertainment marketplace and examines why consumers increasingly choose anime over traditional Western cartoons and television programming. Through a review of historical, cultural, and scholarly literature, as well as an analysis of fan opinions gathered from online sources, the study investigates the factors that make anime an appealing form of entertainment. Findings indicate that anime’s popularity is driven primarily by its distinctive visual artistry, compelling storytelling, and well-developed characters. The research argues that anime benefits from Japan’s high-context cultural approach to communication, which emphasizes symbolism, atmosphere, visual detail, and nuanced …

Solid Dispersion Technology For Improving The Solubility Of Antiviral Drugs, Maria Elvina Tresia Butar-Butar, Nasrul Wathoni, Hestiary Ratih, Yoga Windhu Wardhana
Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research
Most drugs, including antiviral drugs, show low solubility in water, which affects dissolution, bioavailability, and therapeutic effectiveness. Therefore, many antiviral drugs are given in very large doses. One of the efforts to overcome these problems is the application of solid dispersions in which polymers and surfactants can trap drug molecules that are in the amorphous phase. Drugs in a hydrophilic carrier will increase wettability, water absorption capacity, and porosity of particles, so that the drug is released better. This review article will discuss the development of technology in solid-state, how solid dispersion overcomes the lack of solubility and the rate …

Uniform Distributions On Curves And Quantization, Joseph Rosenblatt, Mrinal Kanti Roychowdhury
Uniform Distributions On Curves And Quantization, Joseph Rosenblatt, Mrinal Kanti Roychowdhury
School of Mathematical & Statistical Sciences Faculty Publications
The basic goal of quantization for probability distribution is to reduce the number of values, which is typically uncountable, describing a probability distribution to some finite set and thus to make an approximation of a continuous probability distribution by a discrete distribution. It has broad application in signal processing and data compression. In this paper, first we define the uniform distributions on different curves such as a line segment, a circle, and the boundary of an equilateral triangle. Then, we give the exact formulas to determine the optimal sets of n -means and the n th quantization errors for different …
Affective Interdependence And Welfare, Aviad Heifetz, Enrico Minelli, Heracles M. Polemarchakis
Affective Interdependence And Welfare, Aviad Heifetz, Enrico Minelli, Heracles M. Polemarchakis
Cowles Foundation Discussion Papers
Purely affective interaction allows the welfare of an individual to depend on her own actions and on the profile of welfare levels of others. Under an assumption on the structure of mutual affection that we interpret as “non-explosive mutual affection,” we show that equilibria of simultaneous-move affective interaction are Pareto optimal independently of whether or not an induced standard game exists. Moreover, if purely affective interaction in-duces a standard game, then an equilibrium profile of actions is a Nash equilibrium of the game, and this Nash equilibrium and Pareto optimal profile of strategies is locally dominant.

Objectives: There has been a longstanding debate about whether the mechanisms involved in problematic sexual behavior (PSB) are similar to those observed in addictive disorders, or related to impulse control or to compulsivity. The aim of this report was to contribute to this debate by investigating the association between PSB, addictive disorders (internet addiction, compulsive buying), measures associated with the construct known as reward deficiency (RDS), and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Methods: A Canadian university Office of the Registrar invited 68,846 eligible students and postdoctoral fellows. Of 4710 expressing interest in participating, 3359 completed online questionnaires, and 1801 completed the Mini-International …

Purpose/Background
Endotracheal intubation and laryngoscopy potentiate the cardiovascular response in the form of hypertension, tachycardia, and ventricular arrhythmias. Suppression of this adrenergic response is necessary to ensure patient safety. Currently, anesthesia providers employ many methods to attenuate the sympathetic response without established guidelines. As such, our project aimed to determine the effectiveness of fentanyl compared to esmolol in attenuating the hemodynamic response during laryngoscopy and endotracheal intubation within the first five minutes and throughout the intraoperative period.
Methods
A literature review was completed of ten critically appraised articles from the years 2011-2022. Articles in the review included randomized control studies, …

Spatialisation Of Non-Linear Narratives Through Intertextual Reading, Ferry Gunawan
ARSNET
This paper explores spatial strategies created through a non-linear continuity of narratives, instead of chronological ones. It employs the creation of multiple narrative possibilities by spatialisation mechanism as a new way of reading an intertextual narrative. This research explores different themes of spatial narratives based on the book Penguin Hate Stuff by Greg Stones. The study utilises the mechanism of spatial manipulation using horizontal and vertical axis towards the episodic events portrayed in the book, questioning the original intertextuality of the book's text, and opening up multiple re-interpretations. The explorations of non-linear narratives demonstrate strategies of spatialisation based on the …

Learning From Nature: Exploring Systems Of Plants And Animals For Form Generation, Arnis Rochma Harani
ARSNET
This paper aims to explain learning strategies for deconstructing and reconstructing natural objects as hidden knowledge in nature for application in design studio pedagogy, particularly in developing architectural forms. Current discourse on nature-based architecture learning often places nature as a form of metaphor and analogy. This article presents various results of tracing natural systems, especially plants and animals, as a basis for learning architecture in the Basic Design studio at the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Diponegoro. The implementation of the design studio was conducted by groups of students who explore different types of plant and animal objects. …

Morpheus: Dreamscape Architectural Operations, Adika Ramaghazy, Yandi Andri Yatmo
ARSNET
This study explores the narrative of dreams as a basis of architectural design operation. This study positions its exploration within a dreamscape; or a surrealist situation that becomes the basis of architectural design. Current architectural discourse has explored design based on some structured and rigid operations. However, understanding dreamscape as a design medium positions the importance of explorative and unstructured operations as the basis of the alternative spatial narrative. Morpheus is a title of experimental architecture programming in this design study which is driven by a series of speculative dream operations. This study employs dream narratives to develop architectural programming …
