When Tinder Swiping Gets Challenging: Women’S Narratives Of Gender-Based Violence As Shared Through Quora, Zivana Sabili, Elizabeth Kristi Poerwandari
Psychological Research on Urban Society
Amidst the popular use of Tinder in urban society, the decision whether or not to date someone tends to be made quickly based on a photo and a short profile description. Simple as it may seem, there are moments when swiping gets challenging, especially for women. Tinder has a notorious reputation when it comes to gender-based violence. Unfortunately, despite the significant increase in online dating apps usage during the COVID-19 pandemic, this phenomenon is still highly underresearched.
In this qualitative netnographic research, we explore Tinder sexual harassment narratives uploaded by women in Quora. Through judgment sampling, 15 answers from 7 …

Bladder cancer (BCa) is a prevalent disease with a high risk of aggressive recurrence in T1-stage patients. Despite the efforts to anticipate recurrence, a reliable method has yet to be developed. In this work, we employed high-resolution mass spectrometry to compare the urinary proteome of T1-stage BCa patients with recurring versus non-recurring disease to uncover actionable clinical information predicting recurrence. All patients were diagnosed with T1-stage bladder cancer between the ages of 51 and 91, and urine samples were collected before medical intervention. Our results suggest that the urinary myeloperoxidase to cubilin ratio could be used as a new tool …

How do right-to-work (RTW) laws impact workplace safety?
RTW laws allow employees covered by a union who are not union members to choose not to pay union dues. These laws weaken unions and decrease unionization. This study explores the impact of right-to-work (RTW) laws on workplace safety using a two-way fixed effects and a difference-in-differences approach, focusing on the five right-to-work laws passed by states in the 2010s.
For my two-way fixed effects analysis, I construct a panel dataset from 2007-2019 using yearly state-level data from BLS for all 50 states with available data. My outcome variables are …

Acidobacteria is a phylum of bacteria that make up 50% of soil microbes. While making up a large proportion of bacteria found in soil, this phylum is largely unexplored with limited information about the bacteria and their impact on plant growth. The selected target of this study is Edaphobacter aggregans, WBG-1, which is a part of a subdivision of acidobacteria. Examining the bacteria’s effects on the development of the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana will provide insight into understanding this unknown phylum of soil-dwelling bacteria. Acidobacteria are an important realm to investigate as they affect agriculture practices. With Missouri being such …

Democracy can simply be interpreted as "the government of the people by the people and for the people". One of the pillars of democracy is elections, which are a means of forming power based on popular sovereignty. With elections, democracy can be run through a system that guarantees citizens the freedom to actively participate in politics. Article 22E paragraph (1) of the 1945 NRI Constitution, elections are held directly, publicly, freely, and confidentially. This means that every citizen who is already qualified has the right and freedom to choose and be selected and get the same treatment in accordance with …

This research aims to explain the hidden narrative in the slametan of the ulur-ulur ritual at Telaga Buret, Sawo Village, Campurdarat District, Tulungagung Regency. In 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic, the long sequences of ulur-ulur rituals were summarized by only conducting slametan. This indicates that the main foundation of the ulur-ulur ritual is slametan. To find the core ideology of slametan, this study employed the ethnographic approach. Data were obtained through participatory research and in-depth interview. The collected data were then transcribed and analyzed using related theories. This research shows that in slametan, syncretic narratives are beautifully woven into the …

This study examines the concept of coming out as part of queer narrative within Shimanami Tasogare (2015), a manga by Kamatani Yūki. Although coming out has become an important concept within LGBTQ, previous related research tends to see coming out as a one-time achievement. This study analyses the significance of coming out in Shimanami Tasogare by using the queer narrative approach. This study applies Klein et al.’s theory (2015) which argues that coming out is a dynamic and non-linear social process. This study uses text analysis and compositional interpretation (Rose, 2001) as research method. Results show that coming out plays …

This article focuses on the volcanic eruptions in Priangan, West Java, in the first half of the nineteenth century. Even though volcanic eruptions are natural occurrences, their impacts on human lives are viewed as historical events. While such disasters caused damage and misfortune to those directly affected, some people may also use them as a source of inspiration to seek knowledge. Moreover, eruptions occurring in an area were, to a certain extent, considered as a threat to the colonial authorities. Using contemporary news, official reports, and diaries, this research analyzes the relationship between natural events and its surrounding social and …

To determine whether remote testimony by way of video-conferencing satisfies a defendant's constitutional right to confrontation, a district court must find that (1) permitting a witness to testify remotely is necessary to further a compelling public policy interest, and (2) the testimony is otherwise reliable. In this case, the Nevada Supreme Court held that although efforts to curtail the spread of the COVID-19 virus may constitute a compelling public policy interest, a district court must make specific findings as to why permitting a particular witness to testify remotely furthers this interest. Here, the district court erred in not requiring such …

Pertaining to the Nevada Public Records Act (NPRA), NRS 49.335 does not justify withholding public records in their entirety simply because some portion of the record identifies an individual. Under the generalized balancing test, to determine whether disclosure of public records is appropriate, the government entity bears the burden of proving that its nondisclosure interests clearly outweigh the public’s interest. Further, under the Clark County School District’s (CCSD’s) burden-shifting balancing test, speculative harm to nontrivial personal privacy interests is insufficient to shift the burden from the governmental entity to the plaintiff.

NRS 125C.050 provides that certain relatives and other persons may petition for visitation with a minor child.2 Under the statute, a court may only order visitation when the minor child’s parents “deny or unreasonably restrict visits with the child.”3 When the parents of the child have joint custody and one parent provides the petitioner with sufficient contact with the minor child so that visitation was not denied or unreasonably restricted, the petition for visitation fails regardless of the parent who provides contact.

Even when a section of a contract is unambiguous, the section’s meaning can be ambiguous when read with the entirety of the contract and its appendices. The ambiguity can then be resolved by reading the contract and its appendices together to ascertain the intent of the parties. Additionally, a district court’s decision to deny awarding attorney fees under NRCP 68(f)(1)(B) will not be disturbed if the record clearly shows the district court properly considered the Beattie factors. Lastly, taxable costs will be awarded under NRS 18.005 when those costs are truly necessarily incurred, unless otherwise enumerated.

Title
Nurse-led education heart failure education for symptom monitoring and management
Abstract
Problem Statement: Over six million adults in the United States have heart failure (CDC.gov,2020). According to the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), almost 20% of heart failure patients hospitalized are readmitted under 30 days (AHRQ, 2013). The American Heart Association (AHA) (2022) recommends a visual symptom tracking tool for self-care symptom monitoring to increase patient adherence and reduce readmissions. Despite this recommendation, the AHA tool for symptom monitoring is not fully incorporated into the discharge of every heart failure patient often because of nursing management …

Cardiac catheterization (CC) procedure is a minimally invasive procedure that requires arterial and/or venous access with the introduction of a small tube called a sheath that allows for the passage of wires and catheters into the heart. Heparin is a medication known as a ‘blood thinner’ that is administered throughout the procedure to prevent clots from forming. The activated clotting time (ACT) is a diagnostic point of care test used to measure how long it takes blood to clot. Post CC care requires patients to lie flat for several hours to ensure bleeding will not occur at the punctured vessel …
