Spatiotemporal Accident Prediction In Arid Climates: Integrating Weather And Infrastructure Data Using Geohashing, Aishah Almarzooqi
Spatiotemporal Accident Prediction In Arid Climates: Integrating Weather And Infrastructure Data Using Geohashing, Aishah Almarzooqi
Theses
Adverse weather conditions, such as heavy rainfall and associated flooding, pose significant challenges to road safety and emergency response in Dubai, UAE. The existing road infrastructure, primarily designed for arid conditions, often struggles to cope with these infrequent yet severe events, leading to increased traffic accidents and hindered access to critical services. While current research in the UAE has explored traffic accidents, there is a notable gap in predictive modeling that integrates granular meteorological data with specific spatial characteristics to quantify accident risk with high spatiotemporal precision. To address this, this research investigates the comparative performance of ensemble machine learning …

3d Infographic Animation Series Unleashing The Mechanism Of Disease (Mod) Of Ventricular Tachycardias In Cellular And Molecular Levels: Afterdepolarization Subtypes And Triggered Activity, Yan Ning ‘Harmony’ Wong
Theses
Ventricular arrhythmias (VAs) account for 75-80% of sudden cardiac deaths, causing 184,000 to 450,000 deaths annually in the U.S. VAs commonly occur in individuals with structural heart diseases, but idiopathic ventricular tachycardias (VTs) caused by delayed afterdepolarizations (DADs), early afterdepolarizations (EADs) and triggered activity, can also arise due to calcium ion discrepancies without apparent structural abnormalities. Despite advances in understanding abnormal impulse conduction, there is a paucity of visual aids that explain impulse formation anomalies of VTs. There are no 3D animations that link ECG interpretation to molecular dynamics in the cardiac EC coupling process. Moreover, ECG interpretation skills are …
Dynamic Control Of Active Optical Structures Using Fea-Derived State-Space Models, Damian Suarez
Dynamic Control Of Active Optical Structures Using Fea-Derived State-Space Models, Damian Suarez
Theses
Active optical systems commonly use influence coefficient methods to map actuator commands to surface deformation, but these static models only describe steady-state behavior and do not capture transient or frequency-dependent structural dynamics. This work develops a finite element analysis (FEA)-derived state-space framework for active optical control by reducing an ANSYS deformable mirror model into modal coordinates and mapping structural deformation into optical Zernike space. The framework is used to compare three control strategies: static feedforward inversion, LQI feedback tracking, and a combined LQR–feedforward controller under steady-state and time-varying Zernike setpoints. The results show that feedforward control provides rapid static correction, …

Navigating Social Belonging: Live Experiences Of Young Adults With Intellectual Disabilities In Inclusive Postsecondary Education Programs, Brian Keys
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Inclusive postsecondary education (IPSE) programs have expanded access to higher education for students with intellectual disabilities (ID), yet access alone does not ensure meaningful inclusion or a sense of belonging. This study examined how students with ID experience and make meaning of social belonging within inclusive college environments. Grounded in disability studies and belongingness theory, the study focused on how students perceive belonging, navigate social relationships, and experience campus spaces in relation to inclusion and exclusion.
An interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA) design was employed to explore the lived experiences of four young adults enrolled in a university-based IPSE program. Participants …

Turning The Ear Into An Eye: Using Descriptive Language To Connect With The Creative Imago Dei In Preaching, Jonathan Phillip Hamm
Turning The Ear Into An Eye: Using Descriptive Language To Connect With The Creative Imago Dei In Preaching, Jonathan Phillip Hamm
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
What factors influence an audience's imagination, enabling them to visualize a preacher’s words? The claim being addressed is that when descriptive language is used in preaching—such as stories, analogies, and metaphors—it connects with the representational commission to have dominion over creation that is given through the imago Dei of the sermon recipient, drawing images in their minds and allowing listeners to see what the preacher says. The research begins with an exegetical study of the concept of the imago Dei found in scripture, establishing a theological foundation through passages such as Genesis 1:26-27, 5:1-3, and 9:6, Psalm 8:4-6, Romans 8:29, …
