Chemistry
The reaction of copper(II) perchlorate hexahydrate with 4-pyridone and pyrazine in 1-propanol serendipitously yielded crystals of the solvated title double salt, [Cu(C5H5NO)2(H2O)4][Cu2(ClO4)2(C5H5NO)4(H2O)2](ClO4)4·2C5H5NO, as a biproduct. The copper cations in both the monometallic complex and the dimeric species exhibit classic Jahn-Teller-like elongations. All coordinating 4-pyridone molecules are in the κ-O coordination mode. The dimeric component exhibits both bridging 4-pyridone and perchlorate ligands. Both complexes and the 4-pyridone molecules are bound together by a network of classical hydrogen bonds. The non-coordinating perchlorate ions were modeled as three-site disordered and one of the coordinating 4-pyridone molecules was modeled as two-site disordered. © 2026 …

Beyond The Badge: How Internal Culture Contradicts External Service In Urban Police Departments, Rowan Bari Eiselman

This ethnographic study examines how gendered workplace culture and mental health culture shape officer retention in two urban police departments: the Orange Police Department and the Los Angeles Police Department's 77th District. Through ride-alongs, observations, and informal interviews with nine current and retired officers (four female, five male) across various ranks conducted between March and April 2026, this research reveals a troubling contradiction: departments tasked with serving diverse communities struggle to support diversity within their own ranks. Female officers navigate professional isolation, prolonged competence-proving expectations, and implicit career-versus-motherhood choices, with experiences varying significantly between the more supportive Orange PD and …

Mapping Sensory Landscapes: Distribution And Arrangement Of The Anterior Lateral Line System In Texas Catfish, Tatiana Flores, Ruben Tovar

Fish have a system of sensory organs known as the lateral line system. This system contains numerous mechanoreceptive neuromasts and electroreceptive ampullary organs (Northcutt et al, 2000). Neuromasts are small, hair-like structures located within canals in the lateral line system just under the fish’s skin and are open to the environment through small pores visible on its skin (Parker, 2025). Water flows into these canals through the pores which stimulates the sensitive hair cells, resulting in electrical signals sent to the fish’s brain. The brain interprets these signals and creates “images” of the fish’s surroundings, helping it to see even …

Technological advancements have transformed the nature of work, attracting more women to challenging industries such as the logistics industry. Despite this technological advancement and progress in promoting gender equality, achieving gender parity in this industry remains stagnant. Using the extended self-determination theory, this study explores new mediating and moderating variables to identify factors influencing female employee retention in the logistics industry in Malaysia. Based on a quantitative approach and purposive sampling, 278 responses were collected from women in the logistics industry through online surveys. Food safety and security are major global concerns. Given the growing global population and limited available resources, a sustainable and stable food supply is essential. An environmentally friendly soil amendment (compost) is required to improve soil fertility and food security. This study investigated the use compost of Black Soldier fly larvae as natural substitutes for artificial fertilizers. The research was conducted by feeding different proportions of Black Soldier Fly larvae either plantain stem or a mixture of plantain stem and with plantain stem and plantain stem mixed with cow dung for 21 days. Digressions Of Vision: Elihu Vedder’S Artistic Evolution, Stella Morris

This thesis examines the artwork of prolific American artist Elihu Vedder (1836-1924), utilizing his eccentric yet comprehensive autobiography The Digressions of V (1910) as its grounding source. Despite enjoying a successful, sixty-year career, Vedder has posthumously sunk into relative obscurity in American art history. I postulate that Vedder’s artwork has been largely overlooked because of his breadth in style, creating an inability to classify his art within a single movement. Vedder drew upon the creative traditions of Romanticism, Aestheticism, Symbolism, and greatly admired the art and philosophy of the British Pre-Raphaelites. The rapid expansion of the digital economy has fundamentally transformed how firms create and deliver value. As a core infrastructure of the digital economy, digital platforms are reshaping firms’ business activities and market interactions. For brand firms that rely heavily on channel systems, retailers play a dual role as both product distributors and critical interfaces with end customers. W poniższym artykule społeczna gospodarka rynkowa traktowana jest jako obowiązująca konstytucja gospodarcza w obu porządkach prawnych. Przez jej pryzmat porównawczo analizowana jest aksjologia wyroku polskiego Sądu Najwyższego w sprawie III SK 5/17 oraz Trybunału Sprawiedliwości UE w sprawie C-413/14. The 12-month Enrollment survey component collects unduplicated student enrollment counts and instructional activity data for an entire 12-month period. Using the instructionalactivity data reported, a full-time equivalent (FTE) student enrollment at the undergraduate and graduate level is estimated (4-year institutions only). Institutions with Doctor's -professional practice students will also report the FTE enrollment of those students (4-year institutions only). NCES uses the FTE enrollment to produce indicators such as expenses byfunction per FTE as reported in the IPEDS Data Feedback Report.
