Collection Management For Beginners: What I Did Not Learn In Library School, Melissa Brooks
OVGTSL 2023: Ongoing Challenges, Creative Solutions
It's true that library school provides a valuable foundation to prepare one for work experience; however, certain lessons can only be learned on the job - often at the most inopportune moments. This presentation will explore collection management lessons learned - at rapid speed - following the retirement of the Collection Management Librarian after 35 years at the University of Southern Mississippi. Topics covered include negotiating licensing agreements, working with procurement and legal, managing budgets and identifying budget savings, and working with university departments, library liaisons, and vendors to get the job done.

International Journal of Exercise Science
International Journal of Exercise Science 16(4): 665-675, 2023. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of static stretching (SS) of agonists and antagonists between sets on the total training volume (TTV) performed across multiple sets for the leg extension exercise. Twelve male subjects with experience in resistance training (RT) participated in this study. Subjects performed 10 repetition maximum (10RM) test and retest trials for the leg extension exercise. Four different protocols were randomly applied as follows: quadriceps stretching (AG); hamstrings stretching (AN); quadriceps and hamstrings stretching (AGN); and traditional control without stretching (TR). Significant differences (p≤0.05) were …

International Journal of Exercise Science
International Journal of Exercise Science 16(2): 676-687, 2023. The study aimed to assess cardiovascular responses to low-intensity aerobic exercise with varying levels of limb occlusion pressures (LOP) in a healthy population of men and women 30 to 60 years. The study was a single-session repeated measures design. Thirty individuals completed the study. All subjects participated in a single bout of low-intensity cycling (30-39% HRR) with bilateral lower extremity (LE) BFR for four 5-minute stages [0% (No BFR), 40%, 60%, and 80% LOP] with a 2-minute active rest between stages (BFR pressure released). The subjects’ systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood …

OVGTSL 2023: Ongoing Challenges, Creative Solutions
Librarians faced many challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. Many of us quite literally brought our work home with us as we learned to interact with our colleagues virtually and adapted to performing our job duties from home. During this time, I was handed an additional personal challenge. I was diagnosed with a chronic health condition requiring multiple surgeries. I was now not only struggling to work from home as a cataloger but struggling to work from home as a cataloger while managing my daily pain. As someone who does not enjoy working from home, this seemed like an impossible challenge. …

4d Flow Pattern Of The Longest Cave In The Eastern Alps (Schönberg-Höhlensystem, Totes Gebirge), Lukas Plan, Eva Kaminsky, Pauline Oberender, Clemens Tenreiter, Maximilian Wimmer
International Journal of Speleology
The Schönberg-Höhlensystem (SBH) is not only the longest cave system in the Eastern Alps (length 156 km, depth 1061 m), but a significant proportion of the passages have developed on or just below two surfaces that dip 1.7° to the NE. These so-called "speleogenetic phases" are rarely developed in caves of the Northern Calcareous Alps and have not yet been confirmed by detailed morphological mapping. Furthermore, the deep parts of the cave offer the possibility to study the active epiphreatic zone for a distance of 1.6 km. Detailed morphological mapping shows that the main level at about 1500 m a.s.l. …

Defensive Publications Series
The VR application proposed allows to capture cognitive data from a film viewer immersed in a VR film, process it and enable immersive film evolution by using viewer real-time cognitive information. The evolution of the film will be decided by using the viewer processed cognitive response. The interaction with the film will be totally transparent for the user with cognitive data being captured by a data capture module in the VR glasses/headsets, containing face-tracking, heart- beat sensors and/or other biometric sensors.
