Over the past several decades, positive collaboration between U.S. government departments and agencies supporting development, diplomacy, and defense (3D) has resulted in foreign policy success stories, improving international relations and saving lives around the world. Many of these positive outcomes were achieved when American assistance was requested in response to natural disasters or humanitarian crises, such as following the 2004 tsunami in Indonesia, the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, and the 2020 COVID pandemic. The Global Fragility Act (GFA) created a framework for interagency cooperation internationally, which produced a strong foundation to advance this promising 3D model for foreign assistance. The …

  • Custodial interrogations serve as the primary mechanism through which information is gained for evidence.
  • Human memory is reconstructive rather than reproductive, leaving it vulnerable to contamination and suggestibility, especially with employment of psychological interrogation tactics and the inherently coercive nature of custodial interrogations. This causes false confessions, which lead directly into wrongful convictions.
  • Juveniles and people with disabilities are particularly vulnerable to this, with heightened compliance and diminished decision-making capacity.
  • Electronic recording of custodial interrogations has emerged as a safeguard against false confessions through documentation, accountability, and preservation; however, practical implementation remains limited.

Problematic Social Media (PSMU) is a serious concern in society—as illustrated by recent lawsuits filed against big tech companies.

PSMU is related to anxiety and depression, but the directionality of that relationship remains unclear (Andreassen et al., 2016; Coyne et al., 2020).

Time spent on social media, by itself, is not a strong indicator of negative physical or mental health outcomes (Burénet al., 2023; Coyne et al., 2020), suggesting that certain motivational or dispositional factors may underlie and further explain PSMU.

Orbital object detection is a vital aspect of space operations, particularly for identifying satellite components. Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) are typically used for such operations by running onboard models directly on satellite systems. However, a new neural network architecture, known as Vision Transformers (ViTs), have shown greater effectiveness due to their ability to capture global context. The stomach contains highly acidic gastric fluid with a very low pH.  A thin mucus lining protects the stomach from self-digestion and keeps nearby epithelial cells near a pH 7.  A weakened mucus layer is associated with conditions such as Gastritis and Peptic Ulcer Disease.

High no-show rates in outpatient mental health settings remain a persistent barrier to effective care delivery, negatively affecting continuity of care, patient outcomes, and access to services. In the identified practice setting, inconsistent use of evidence-based engagement strategies beyond standard reminder practices contributed to missed appointments. The purpose of this Doctor of Nursing Practice project was to evaluate whether a structured staff education intervention on evidence-based engagement strategies would improve staff knowledge as a foundation for enhancing appointment adherence. Abstract The problem that was addressed through this study is that kindergarten through eighth-grade homeless students experience higher rates of chronic absenteeism and lower educational outcomes than their housed peers in California. Grounded in Bronfenbrenner’s ecological systems theory, the purpose of this study was to explore K–8 teachers’ perceptions of the barriers they face in educating chronically absent homeless youth. For this basic qualitative design, semistructured interviews were conducted with 10 K–8 teachers from one California school district. Diversity in the ECE workforce has been shown to have a positive social and academic influence on children and families within the ECE setting. The problem addressed in this study was that in an urban eastern school district (UESD), there was an educator gender imbalance in early childhood education (ECE). Built on Raspberry Pi 4B, it retrieves and normalizes real-time data from multiple sources and displays it through a modular tile interface. Skin cancer is one of the most common cancers, and early detection greatly improves outcomes.

Many people do not have quick or easy access to a dermatologist for an initial screening.

Our goal was to build a mobile app that can analyze a lesion image and provide a fast preliminary prediction on device.

This is not meant to replace a doctor, but to serve as an accessible screening aid that encourages earlier follow-up.
