Self-Sabotaging Behaviors Of Female Chief Executive Officers Of Behavioral Health Organizations And Power Tactics Used To Leadhership, Jennifer Salgado

Purpose: The purpose of this sequential, explanatory mixed-methods study was to identify and describe personal power tactics that female Chief Executive Officers of behavioral health nonprofit organizations employ to overcome four identified self-sabotaging behaviors from the Self-Sabotaging Framework adapted from Lerner (2012) and Ryder and Briles (2003).

Methodology: This sequential mixed methods research study deployed a phenomenological approach to identify and describe the lived experiences of six female Chief Executive Officers of behavioral health nonprofit organizations in California. Data collection included interviews consisting of eight semistructured questions and 28 survey questions. Interviews were recorded and transcribed to support data analysis …

In this chapter, we explain our theoretical grounding and provide a framework for what follows. We outline the twin purposes of this book, as we explain our conceptions of care and excellence and the relationship between the two. Like all academic texts our work here stands about other established frameworks, and we diagram this to illustrate where this text fits in the field. Finally, we include an overview of the chapters that follow to serve as a reader guide.

In this chapter, we provide our personal contexts for Balancing Care and Excellence in Higher Education: A Festschrift in Honor of Jeffrey Cornett. In so doing, we address the place of care and excellence in the 2020’s in our lives through a critical lens, and we examine the ways that these have led to this book. We also place this book in broader contexts to analyze the ways that care has been distorted and weaponized. Further, we examine how care is operationalized in higher education. Precision medicine is a healthcare approach which tailors disease prevention and treatment to an individual, based on their genetics, environment, lifestyle, and physiological state. These factors interact to produce biological changes that can be measured to produce data called omics, and include genomics, lipidomics, and proteomics. Despite the abundance of omics data and analysis techniques, researchers still struggle to identify biological findings that replicate across data sets and translate into clinical applications. Clients of The Branch, a local 501(c)(3) that serves the Antioch community through direct aid and education, often face barriers in meeting basic needs. These barriers often include unfamiliarity with navigating basic services such as filling prescriptions or registering for health insurance online. Our team of HON 3520 students crafted visual guides to aid in navigating websites that are already commonly used by clients of The Branch. Core chlorophytes possess glycerol-3-phosphate dehydrogenases (GPDs) with an unusual bidomain structure, consisting of a glycerol-3-phosphate phosphatase (GPP) domain fused to canonical GPD domains. These plastid-localized enzymes have been implicated in stress responses, being required for the synthesis of glycerol under high salinity and triacylglycerols under nutrient deprivation. However, their regulation under varying environmental conditions is poorly understood. C. reinhardtii transgenic strains expressing constitutively bidomain GPD2 did not accumulate glycerol or triacylglycerols in the absence of any environmental stress. Although the glycerol contents of both wild type and transgenic strains increased significantly upon exposure to high salinity, cycloheximide, an inhibitor of …

The paper investigates the hypothesis that capital is the most significant factor in fostering economic growth in the least developed countries, alongside natural resources, capital formation, and technological innovation. With a focus on countries with large Islamic populations, the study looks at aid distribution, governance challenges, and geopolitical dynamics that shape the effectiveness of aid in promoting human development. Islamic populations in recipient countries present unique cultural, political, and economic factors because of their growing hostility towards the West influencing aid effectiveness. Existing research indicates that music can alter the visual perception of emotion, such as negative moods followed sad music and positive moods followed happy music (Jolij & Meurs, 2011). Furthermore, different genres of music over film have an impact on the perception of the viewer, specifically attention level (Y. Kwon et al., 2022) and likeability or connection of film characters (Hoeckner, B et al., 2011). After the Global Financial Crisis, the U.S. housing market has been studied extensively from several dimensions to assess the causes for the price crash during 2007–2012. In this paper, we formulate five hypotheses about the behavior of housing prices and introduce two important innovations: first we extend the sample period, from January 1987 to August 2023, to assess whether the common determinants that drove housing prices during the GFC also moved housing dynamics during the essentially zero interest rate and pandemic periods. Background: Direct hyperbilirubinemia is frequently encountered in the NICU and is always a pathologic condition. It is exceedingly difficult to distinguish between common causes of direct hyperbilirubinemia based on laboratory work-up alone. Through retrospective chart review we aim to better establish the incidence of risk factors and progression of direct hyperbilirubinemia in the NICU, with the goal of streamlining the secondary evaluation.

Background: Pain medication use in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) can be highly challenging due to concerns for negative impact on long-term neurodevelopmental outcomes. Many commonly utilized pain medications and sedatives such as midazolam, fentanyl, and morphine have problematic side effects, for example, decreased gut motility, that can prolong time to full feeds and increase hospital length of stay. Dexmedetomidine may be a safe alternative, although ongoing investigations are needed to determine which patient populations may safely receive this medication.

Neonatal opioid withdrawal syndrome (NOWS) occurs following in utero opioid exposure and prolongs newborn hospitalizations. NOWS severity has traditionally been assessed using the Finnegan Neonatal Abstinence Scoring Tool (FNAST). In recent years, the Eat, Sleep, Console care approach (ESC) was developed and has been rapidly adopted. This research proposed to compare various outcomes in infants managed with FNAST vs ESC.

Background: Many critically ill children receive glucocorticoids (GCs), especially to treat pressor-resistant hypotension, but GCs may increase all-cause mortality. We will identify factors that contribute to GC exposure in PICU and NICU patients, determine the range of doses used, and develop guidelines for GC use in this population.
