An Innovative Approach On Yao’S Three-Way Decision Model Using Intuitionistic Fuzzy Sets For Medical Diagnosis, Wajid Ali, Tanzeela Shaheen, Iftikhar Ul Haq, Florentin Smarandache, Hamza Ghazanfar Toor, Faiza Asif
Neutrosophic Systems with Applications
In the realm of medical diagnosis, intuitionistic fuzzy data serves as a valuable tool for representing information that is uncertain and imprecise. Nevertheless, decision-making based on this kind of knowledge can be quite challenging due to the inherent vagueness of the data. To address this issue, we employ power aggregation operators, which prove effective in combining several sources of data, such as expert thoughts and patient information. This allows for a more correct diagnosis; a particularly crucial aspect of medical practice where precise and timely diagnoses can significantly impact medication policy and patient results. In our research, we introduce a …
Redesign Of Leg Assembly For Remote Walking Training Device To Improve Gait Kinematics, Jacob Anthony
Redesign Of Leg Assembly For Remote Walking Training Device To Improve Gait Kinematics, Jacob Anthony
Mechanical Engineering Theses
As modern medicine has improved, the average age of patients has increased. This has cause a growing number of patients to develop disabilities over time due to spinal cord injuries and stroke among other neurological ailments. This has led to an increased interest in developing robotic exoskeletons to help patients with neuromuscular rehabilitation. However, most exoskeletons do not accurately replicate the natural human gait kinematics due to a lack of degrees of freedom at the designed knee joint. In this thesis, the leg assembly for a robotic rehabilitation (RoboREHAB) device is redesigned to improve the gait kinematics and a reinforcement …
Responding To The Call: How States Handle Federal Family Engagement Guidelines And The Similarities And Differences Between States, Owen Boxer
Washington Semester Program
Throughout the history of American federal education legislation, policy has almost always been vague and left to state interpretation. This is no different for family engagement, which are two-way interactions between families and schools that build and change the capacities of both partners. Since 2015, federal money has been allocated to the Statewide Family Engagement Centers, including twelve SFECs given initial funding in 2018, to carry out family engagement activities on the state level. Using a mixed method approach, I conducted research to 1. examine how SFECs interpret federal guidelines (specifically those in the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015), …

Development And Evaluation Of Muon Scattering Tomography Reconstruction Techniques For Spent Fuel Verification, Jesus J. Valencia
Nuclear Engineering ETDs
The International Atomic Energy Agency has acknowledged the need to “efficiently verify and maintain knowledge of spent fuel in shielding/storage/transport containers at all points in their life cycle”. Cosmic-ray muon scattering tomography has shown potential to create reconstruction images of dry cask contents that would be useful for in-situ verification of spent fuel within dry casks.
In this document, several muon scattering tomography reconstruction techniques are explored using experimental track data through a partially filled dry cask container and steel drum test object. Two three-dimensional reconstruction techniques, a backprojection and newly developed combined depth of field algorithm, are evaluated. The …

Safe and effective pain management is a critical healthcare and societal need. The potential for acute liver injury from paracetamol (ApAP) overdose; nephrotoxicity and gastrointestinal damage from chronic non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) use; and opioids’ addiction are unresolved challenges. We developed SRP-001, a non-opioid and non-hepatotoxic small molecule that, unlike ApAP, does not produce the hepatotoxic metabolite N-acetyl-p-benzoquinone-imine (NAPQI) and preserves hepatic tight junction integrity at high doses. CD-1 mice exposed to SRP-001 showed no mortality, unlike a 70% mortality observed with increasing equimolar doses of ApAP within 72 h. SRP-001 and ApAP have comparable antinociceptive effects, including the complete …

Highly Flame-Retardant Bio-Based Foams Using Castor Oil And Melamine-Based Intumescent Flame Retardants, Niyati Chaudhary
Highly Flame-Retardant Bio-Based Foams Using Castor Oil And Melamine-Based Intumescent Flame Retardants, Niyati Chaudhary
Electronic Theses & Dissertations
One of the considerable forms of polyurethanes (PUs) with significant potential for insulation and energy efficiency is rigid foam, which is mostly utilized in the construction, refrigeration, and automobile sectors. However, RPUFs are quite combustible and may ignite and spread flames rapidly. As an economical, environmentally friendly, and effective alternative to non-halogenated flame retardants (FRs), nitrogen-based chemical substances are used to reduce the flammability of PU foam. It is demonstrated by research that the ideal choice for incorporating flame-retardant compounds with rigid polyurethane foams is based on melamine derivatives, which majorly contain nitrogen in their structure. Adding melamine and its …

Effects Of Nitrogen, Phosphorous, And Nitrogen-Phosphorous-Based Flame Retardants On Properties Of Bio-Based Polyurethane Foam, Janvi Chaudhari
Electronic Theses & Dissertations
Rigid polyurethane foams (RPUFs) are widely used materials in buildings, coolers, and refrigerators due to their good thermal insulation properties. They are also used in automobiles due to their low density, sound adsorption, and mechanical properties. However, most of the raw materials used for their production originate from non-renewable sources. Also, these polymers are susceptible to fire due to their porous structure. For that, it is important to incorporate bio-based materials to produce polyurethanes along with flame retardants (FRs) that can efficiently quench a fire and suppress the release of toxic fumes. Herein, soybean oil, henceforth referred to as vegetable …

Study Of Soybean Oil-Based Non-Isocyanate Polyurethane Films Via A Solvent And Catalyst-Free Approach, Pratik Patel
Electronic Theses & Dissertations
Synthesizing polymeric materials that are both sustainable and practical has become a priority. Polyurethanes (PU) are becoming more popular because of their countless applications and exclusive properties in many sectors. While considering the current issue of environmental problems and the excessive use of petroleum products, non-isocyanate polyurethanes (NIPU) are favored due to their sustainability and low toxicity compared to conventional PU. In this work, flexible NIPU films were made using a green and facile method. For that, soybean oil (SBO) was used as the starting material and converted into epoxide soybean oil (ESBO) followed by its chemical conversion into carbonated …
A Solvent And Catalyst-Free Approach For Synthesizing Bio-Based Adhesive Using Various Diols, Sonu Parekh
A Solvent And Catalyst-Free Approach For Synthesizing Bio-Based Adhesive Using Various Diols, Sonu Parekh
Electronic Theses & Dissertations
The development of low-cost bio-based formaldehyde-free adhesives has aroused widespread interest in the adhesive industry. The usage of adhesives that contain urea-formaldehyde or phenol formaldehyde leads to environmental issues. Traditional polyurethane adhesives were based on fossil fuels and the use of solvents made them toxic. Petrochemicals are non-renewable resources that will be depleted soon. Therefore, non-renewable materials should be replaced by bio-based renewable resources. Using renewable bio-resources, especially plant oils, as a substitute for petroleum-based polyols is an approach that showed promise. Here, in this research work, soybean oil polyol (SOP) was used to synthesize polyurethane (PU) adhesive. For studying …

Water splitting, a critical milestone in the development of renewable energy, allowed the production of pure hydrogen (H2) and oxygen (O2). Iron oxide (Fe2O3), a transition metal oxide component in electrochemical water splitting for both the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and the oxygen evolution reaction (OER), offered potential because of its accessibility, low cost, and environmental safety. To analyze the impact of the methodology on its properties, Fe2O3 was produced in three different ways: freeze-drying (aerogel) (Fe2O3-AG), hydrothermal (Fe2O3-HT), and microwave …
Explosions Of Cold War Memory: The Queer Overdetermination Of U.S. Imperial Anxiety In The Ugly American, Jasmine Shirey
Explosions Of Cold War Memory: The Queer Overdetermination Of U.S. Imperial Anxiety In The Ugly American, Jasmine Shirey
Dartmouth College Master’s Theses
In 1958, William Lederer and Eugene Burdick were driven to spend six days frantically drafting a novel. In their view, the United States was losing the Cold War and the nation’s post-war image of innovation and benevolence was under threat. Lederer and Burdick feared that U.S. diplomacy was chauvinistic and detached and, as such, the United States was beginning to be associated with the very forms of imperialism it claimed to fight. This anxiety over U.S. imperialism gave rise to The Ugly American, in which Lederer and Burdick appear to attempt to alleviate imperial anxieties by providing an alternative …
Towards Machine Proficiency With Semantic Underspecification, Zachary S. Gottesman
Towards Machine Proficiency With Semantic Underspecification, Zachary S. Gottesman
Dartmouth College Master’s Theses
Human natural language communication frequently relies on extra-linguistic information to fill in gaps in the linguistic signal left by semantic underspecification, or the omission of details that can be inferred from prior knowledge or other modalities. Underspecification is particularly common in conversations between acquaintances, since these interlocutors share context. Underspecification is a key and beneficial feature of natural language that improves efficiency, although it can cause communication to fail if it is not resolved correctly. For language models to communicate effectively and in a human-like fashion, they must learn how to recognize and utilize underspecified language. This thesis argues that …

Hidden Portals An Architectural Intervention Of Casino Employee Entrances, Cesar Salazar
Hospitality Design Graduate Student Capstones
The current design of employee entrances across the Las Vegas Strip starkly contrasts the vibrant and inviting atmosphere experienced by visitors (Sheehan, 2004). This oversight undermines the potential for creating a hospitable and efficient work environment where every design decision contributes positively to the employees' experience. There is a critical need for a shift towards authentic utilitarian architecture in these spaces, where the primary goal should be to simultaneously enhance functionality, productivity, and employee well-being.
This book posits that a transformative architectural intervention of resort employee entrances, rooted in principles of architectural determinism, is a necessity to enhance employee morale …

Two endemic, “large river” fishes of the Colorado River basin of western North America, bonytail Gila elegans and razorback sucker Xyrauchen texanus, are among several critically endangered species in the system. Wild populations of bonytail are gone, and there are no self-sustaining populations of razorback sucker anywhere; reproduction occurs but recruitment does not. Both species have been under intensive management in the Lower Colorado River since the 1980s. Today, with the single exception of Lake Mead, remaining populations are composed entirely of repatriated individuals that depend on stocking for their continued existence. In 2003, a conceptual off-channel habitat (OCH) …

Abstract: The learning process and working mechanism of deep reinforcement learning methods such as DQN are not transparent, and their decision basis and reliability cannot be perceived, which makes the decisions made by the model highly questionable and greatly limits the application scenarios of deep reinforcement learning. To explain the decision-making mechanism of intelligent agents, this paper proposes a gradient based saliency map generation algorithm SMGG. It uses the gradient information of feature maps generated by high-level convolutional layers to calculate the importance of different feature maps. With the known structure and internal parameters of the model, starting from the …
