Tri-Training Algorithm Based On Density Peaks Clustering, Yuhang Luo, Runxiu Wu, Zhihua Cui, Yiying Zhang, Yeshen He, Jia Zhao

Journal of System Simulation

Abstract: Tri-training can effectively improve the generalization ability of classifiers by using unlabeled data for classification, but it is prone to mislabeling unlabeled data, thus forming training noise. Tritraining (Tri-training with density peaks clustering, DPC-TT) algorithm based on density peaks clustering is proposed. The DPC-TT algorithm uses the density peaks clustering algorithm to obtain the class cluster centers and local densities of the training data, and the samples within the truncation distance of the class cluster centers are identified as the samples with better spatial structure, and these samples are labeled as the core data, and the classifier is updated …

Path Planning Of Unmanned Delivery Vehicle Based On Improved Q-Learning Algorithm, Xiaokang Wang, Jie Ji, Yang Liu, Qing He

Journal of System Simulation

Abstract: To solve the traditional Q-learning algorithm for unmanned vehicle path planning suffers from the problems of low planning efficiency and slow convergence speed, for this reason, a path planning algorithm for unmanned delivery vehicles based on the improved Q-learning algorithm is proposed. Learning from the energy iteration principle of the simulated annealing algorithm, adjusts the greedy factor ε to make it change dynamically during the training process, so as to balance the relationship between exploration and utilization, and thus improve the planning efficiency. The reward value in the reward mechanism is changed from a discrete value to a continuous …

Time Slot Allocation Method Of Data Link Based On Improved Difference Algorithm, Yuting Zhu, Huankun Su, Xiaodong Feng, Shijie Lei, Yanfang Fu

Journal of System Simulation

Abstract: Aiming at the problems of single algorithm, being prone to local optima, and weak generalization ability of the current strategies, based on an improved differential evolutionary algorithm, a chaos algorithm, an adaptive variational crossover algorithm, and a problem solution processing mechanism, a time slot allocation strategy is proposed. The chaos algorithm is used to initialize the population to increase the diversity and avoid the premature convergence. The selection probability parameter is then used to make the crossover and variation process more flexible, expanding the search range in early to increase the possibility of global optima in late. The experiment …

Accelerated Somatic Mutation Calling For Whole-Genome And Whole-Exome Sequencing Data From Heterogenous Tumor Samples, Shuangxi Ji, Tong Zhu, Ankit Sethia, Wenyi Wang

Faculty, Staff and Student Publications

Accurate detection of somatic mutations in DNA sequencing data is a fundamental prerequisite for cancer research. Previous analytical challenges were overcome by consensus mutation calling from four to five popular callers. This, however, increases the already nontrivial computing time from individual callers. Here, we launch MuSE 2, powered by multistep parallelization and efficient memory allocation, to resolve the computing time bottleneck. MuSE 2 speeds up 50 times more than MuSE 1 and eight to 80 times more than other popular callers. Our benchmark study suggests combining MuSE 2 and the recently accelerated Strelka2 achieves high efficiency and accuracy in analyzing …

PURPOSE: Mutations in the ATM gene are common in multiple cancers, but clinical studies of therapies targeting ATM-aberrant cancers have yielded mixed results. Refinement of ATM loss of function (LOF) as a predictive biomarker of response is urgently needed.

EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN: We present the first disclosure and preclinical development of a novel, selective ATR inhibitor, ART0380, and test its antitumor activity in multiple preclinical cancer models. To refine ATM LOF as a predictive biomarker, we performed a comprehensive pan-cancer analysis of ATM variants in patient tumors and then assessed the ATM variant-to-protein relationship. Finally, we assessed a novel ATM LOF …

Algebraic Speed Estimation For Sensorless Induction Motor Control: Insights From An Electric Vehicle Drive Cycle, Jorge Neira-Garcia, Andres Beltran-Pulido, John Cortes-Romero

Purdue University Libraries Open Access Publishing Fund

Induction motors (IMs) must meet high reliability and safety standards in mission-critical applications, such as electric vehicles (EVs), where sensorless control strategies are fundamental. However, sensorless rotor speed estimation demands improvements to overcome filtering distortions, tuning complexities, and sensitivity to IM model mismatch. Algebraic methods offer inherent filtering capabilities and design flexibility to address these challenges without introducing additional dynamics into the control system. The objective of this paper is to provide an algebraic estimation strategy that yields an accurate rotor speed estimate for sensorless IM control. The strategy includes an algebraic estimator with single-parameter tuning and inherent filtering action. …

The way users perceive and use information systems artefacts has been mainly studied from the notion of behavioral beliefs, deliberate cognitive efforts, and physical actions performed by human actors to produce certain outcomes. The next generation of information systems, however, can sense, respond, and adapt to environments without necessitating similar cognitive efforts, physical contact, or explicit instructions to operate. Therefore, by leveraging theories of consciousness and technology use, this research aims to advance an alternative understanding of the "use" associated with the next generation of IS artefacts that do not require deliberate cognitive efforts, physical manipulation, or explicit instructions to …

Coachella Ya Habibi, Yasmine Daas May 2024

Coachella Ya Habibi, Yasmine Daas

Capstones

This piece examines Palestinian singer Elyanna’s historic Coachella performance as a cultural moment shaped by visibility, constraint, and the politics of existence. Through firsthand observation and contextual analysis, it traces how Palestinian art—particularly music, fashion, and embodied performance—functions under conditions where identity itself is politicized. Elyanna’s presence on a global festival stage is framed not as a singular breakthrough, but as part of a broader continuum of Palestinian cultural assertion before and after October 7, when artistic expression increasingly carried material risk. By situating her performance alongside shifting industry responses, audience reception, and the evolving role of Palestinian artists in …

Human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) infection is well known as one of the most complex and difficult viral infections to cure. The difficulty in developing curative strategies arises in large part from the development of latent viral reservoirs (LVRs) within anatomical and cellular compartments of a host. The clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats/ CRISPR-associated protein 9 (CRISPR/Cas9) system shows remarkable potential for the inactivation and/or elimination of integrated proviral DNA within host cells, however, delivery of the CRISPR/Cas9 system to infected cells is still a challenge. In this review, the main factors impacting delivery, the challenges for delivery …

Beyond Urban Development: The Political Economy Of The Decision To Build A New Administrative Capital [Nac], Arsany Medhat

Theses and Dissertations

Following major societal upheavals, regimes often embark on grandiose infrastructure projects, particularly new capital cities. This thesis delves into the political-economic motivations behind such seemingly monumental undertaking, taking the case of Egypt's New Administrative Capital (NAC) as its prime example. Through meticulous analysis, it argues that three key drivers—legitimization, legibility, and clientelism—underpin this decision, ultimately fostering a process of power consolidation. Legitimization: The NAC serves as a potent symbol of a "new era," offering the post-upheaval regime a platform to showcase its modernity, efficiency, and commitment to progress, thereby bolstering its legitimacy in the eyes of both domestic and international …
