This paper develops a model of financing that jointly determi nes a firm’s capital structure, its voluntary disclosure policy, and its cost of capital. Investors who receive securities in return for supplying capital sometimes incur losses when they trade their securities with an informed trader. The firm’s disclosure po licy and the structure of its securities determine the information advantage of the i nformed trader, and hence the size of investors’ trading losses and the firm’s cost of ca pital. We estimate a dynamic model of voluntary disclosure, using annual management forecasts of earnings, that features a manager with pri ce motives and an uncertain but persistent information endowment. Our estimates imply that: (i) managers face disclosure frictions 35% of the time; (ii) conditional on being informed, managers withhold information 17% of the time; and ( iii) conditional on being silent, managers possess information 24% of the time. Managers’ strategic withholding motives increase investors’ uncertainty about earnings by 3%. We find that managers’ price motives reduce strategic withholding by one-third, in response to investors’ increased skepticism in the event of …

This paper studies a model of optimal disclosure via two comp eting communi- cation channels, hard information whose value has been veri fied and soft disclo- sures (e.g., forecasts, unaudited statements, press relea ses). We show that certain soft disclosures may contain as much information as hard dis closures and establish that: (a) exclusive reliance on soft disclosures tends to co nvey bad news, (b) cred- ibility is greater when unfavorable information is reporte d and (c) misreporting is more likely when soft information is issued jointly with har d information. Practical experience with modern analytical instruments is an essential component of undergraduate chemistry education, yet access to advanced instruments varies widely among institutions because of differences in available resources. Although size exclusion chromatography (SEC) is extensively used in polymer characterization in both academia and industry, undergraduate students at Montclair State University previously had limited opportunities to gain hands-on experience to this technique. Fuzzy set theory enriches classical sets by assigning to each element a graded membership in [0,1], thereby capturing partial inclusion and uncertainty. The notion of an Uncertain Set further abstracts this idea by allowing membership to take values in a general degree-domain, providing a unified language that subsumes fuzzy, intuitionistic fuzzy, neutrosophic, plithogenic, and related models. On the algebraic side, a hyperlattice replaces one lattice operation by a multivalued hyperoperation, enabling the representation of ambiguous or non-deterministic combinations, while a superhyperlattice iterates this structure through powerset lifting to obtain higher-order layers of interaction. Witness testimony is an important source of evidence in criminal proceedings, but it may contain contradictions, incomplete details, or conflicts with other case-file materials. This paper proposes a neutrosophic event-graph legal AI framework for detecting materially contested claims in witness testimonies under the Egyptian criminal-procedure context. The framework converts testimony and related records into structured claims containing actor, action, object, time, location, source, and modality. These claims are then connected through an event graph and evaluated using neutrosophic components of support, indeterminacy, and opposition. This study develops a generalized neutrosophic ratio-type estimator for estimating the population mean by incorporating information from two auxiliary variables under Simple Random Sampling Without Replacement (SRSWOR). The proposed methodology extends the conventional single-auxiliary-variable approach by jointly incorporating bivariate auxiliary information within the neutrosophic framework, thereby accounting for uncertainty, indeterminacy, and inconsistency in the available information. The bias and mean squared error of the proposed estimator are derived using first-order approximations, and the corresponding efficiency conditions are established through theoretical comparisons with existing neutrosophic estimators. Black race and Hispanic ethnicity are associated with higher mortality in severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID) following hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT), though mechanisms remain unclear. We evaluated 796 children with SCID who received nonsibling HCT between 1982 and 2020 using data from the Primary Immune Deficiency Treatment Consortium. Overall survival for Black (aHR 2.47, 95%CI 1.64, 3.71) and Asian/Pacific Islander patients (aHR 1.82, 95%CI 1.00, 3.30) was significantly lower compared with non-Hispanic White patients, while Hispanic patients had lower event-free survival (aHR 1.83, 95%CI 1.27, 2.63) compared with non-Hispanic White patients. Maxwell fluids, belonging to the category of non-Newtonian fluids, are used in numerous applications, including polymer processing, biomedical systems, and industrial fluid transport devices. This article examines pelimau dapur, a Malay post-confinement ritual practised by some families in Kampung Alor Limbat, Terengganu. It investigates how ritual knowledge is transmitted, how natural and processed materials acquire cultural, spiritual, and perceived therapeutic meanings, and how the practice is reshaped by religious, social, healthcare, and material change. The study employed a focused ethnographic case study design involving semi-structured interviews with eight purposively selected participants (two traditional midwives and six women with direct experience of the ritual), together with participant observation, field notes, and visual documentation. Being married is related to better health, but many studies reveal greater health benefits among men relative to women. Some research has indicated that married individuals exhibit decelerated epigenetic age relative to individuals who are not married, but questions remain regarding gender differences therein. The purpose was to investigate gender differences in associations of marital status to epigenetic age (ing) assessed on three clocks/algorithms (PhenoAge, GrimAge, and DunedinPACE).

Type 2 diabetes mellitus continues to rise and calls for safe therapeutic leads. This study assessed the potential of triterpenoids from bitter melon (Momordica charantia) as AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) ligands at the ATP-binding site through an in silico approach. AMPK (PDB ID: 4QFG) was prepared in YASARA; nine M. charantia triterpenoids and metformin were docked in PLANTS. Redocking of staurosporine validated the protocol (RMSD 0.2376 Å; ≤2.0 Å). Kuguacin J (-89.9934), Karavilagenin B ( 86.4084), and Kuguacin R (-85.8514) yielded lower (more favorable) docking scores than metformin (-56.5325) and interacted with hinge residues (Val96 and Glu94/Glu100). We report a case of moderately differentiated appendiceal adenocarcinoma discovered on histopathologic examination following ileocecectomy for recurrent SBO in a woman in her early 50s with a history of stage III rectal adenocarcinoma in remission. Notably, serial surveillance imaging over two years had demonstrated a radiographically normal appendix prior to the obstructive presentation. Immunohistochemical and histopathologic features confirmed a metachronous primary malignancy rather than metastatic recurrence. This case exemplifies the diagnostic challenge posed by occult appendiceal neoplasms, the importance of meticulous histopathologic evaluation of all resected specimens, and the need to consider rare malignant etiologies in patients with recurrent bowel …

We report a case of advanced-stage ovarian carcinosarcoma (OCS) with extensive extra-ovarian involvement and widespread high-grade serous carcinoma involving the omentum, bladder, ileal mesentery, and small bowel serosa in a female patient in her mid-40s. This case highlights a rare arrangement of histologic features and disease differentiation. The metastatic sites demonstrated predominantly epithelial high-grade serous carcinoma, while the sarcomatous component was identified in the adnexal tumor and left pelvic sidewall. The presence of neuroendocrine differentiation, however, represents a rare and infrequently reported histopathologic feature. Visual function tests are essential in basic and clinical vision research but are typically restricted to a limited range of visual functions and provide coarse diagnostic resolution. The response-adaptive Angular Indication Measurement (AIM) and Foraging Interactive D-prime (FInD) paradigms were recently developed as generalizable approaches for assessing multiple visual functions. Both methods present 4 × 4 stimulus arrays spanning ± 2σ around an adaptively estimated threshold. This study examines how gender shapes psychological experience across five of Shakespeare’s major plays: Macbeth, Hamlet, Othello, King Lear, and Twelfth Night. Existing scholarship treats Shakespeare’s tragic women, tragic men, and comic heroines as separate problems; this article asks whether one framework connects them. Its starting point is the reversal in psychological positions between Macbeth and Lady Macbeth: he resists killing on moral grounds and then grows recklessly violent, while she plans the murder with cold resolve and is later overwhelmed by guilt. This paper asks two questions. Which institutional characteristics are associated with stronger or weaker campus speech climates? And do institutions take corrective action when they are publicly ranked near the bottom? A university faces two costs of restricting speech: a legal cost that binds only public institutions, and a reputational cost is paid when its climate is publicly observed and private institutions also bear this cost. The evidence comes from five waves of the FIRE College Free Speech Rankings, 1,112 institution-waves covering 257 colleges from 2022 to 2026, merged with IPEDS. Strengthening faculty preparedness is essential for improving clinical education in essential care settings. Korea has launched a national initiative to develop a standardized nurse educator training system to advance educator competencies. This study evaluated the effectiveness of a two-day national blended nurse educator program expanded from a micro-teaching model, using Kirkpatrick Levels 1–3, and explored improvement strategies through instructor focus group discussions (FGDs). This work aligns with Sigma’s priorities of advancing education, faculty preparedness, and professional development.
