The Rights And Obligations Of Mod Creators In Canadian Videogame Law, Christian Clavette

Canadian Journal of Law and Technology

This article explores the legal landscape for mod creators in the Canadian video game industry, examining their rights and obligations under Canadian copyright law and End User License Agreements (EULAs). With the growth of the industry, independent creators have increasingly contributed to game development through “mods,” which modify or enhance existing games. While these mods offer significant creative and commercial potential, they also pose legal challenges, particularly regarding copyright infringement and the enforceability of EULAs. The article evaluates relevant Canadian and U.S. case law, highlighting key differences and similarities, and discusses how these legal principles apply to mods. It also …

Women’s and Gender Studies Student Work

These comics were created by students in Dr. Stella Oh's WGST 3300: Race, Gender, and Graphic Novels exploring thematic topics of identity, loss, illness, disability, and caregiving. After reading creative and scholarly works addressing war, PTSD, social stigma, and graphic medicine, students engaged in creating several comics. Some of the student comics are featured in this collection. Communicating their ideas through the visual-textual medium of comics, students engaged in critical reflection of their readings and class discussions. Students produced their comics through software such as Illustrator, Canva, Procreate, and other media.

In the past 40 years, the United States has faced 2 major public health crises: the AIDS epidemic, and the global COVID-19 pandemic. In this project I consider the various aspects of these public health emergencies such as sharing the burden of survival, the role of fear, the bastardization of identity politics, and queerness as a political project. I do this by analyzing oral histories and I argue that we can look at the AIDS epidemic and the COVID-19 pandemic in parallel. Historically, it has been a challenge to simulate the experimentally observed cellular structures and marginal behavior of multi-dimensional, thin-channel hydrogen detonations in the presence of losses, even with detailed chemistry models. Very recently, a quasi-two-dimensional inviscid approach with a calorically perfect gas and two-step chemistry was pursued, where losses due to viscous boundary layers were modeled by the inclusion of an equivalent mass divergence in the lateral direction using Fay's source term formulation with Mirels’ compressible laminar boundary layer solutions. Carbon fiber-reinforced plastics (CFRP) are widely used in various industries due to their high strength to weight ratio, corrosion resistance, durability, and excellent thermo-mechanical properties. The machining of CFRP composites has always been a challenge for the manufacturers. In this study, CNC turning operation with coated carbide tool is used to machine a specific CFRP and the relationship between the cutting parameters (Speed, Feed, Depth of Cut) and response parameters (Vibration, Surface Finish, Cutting Force and Tool Wear) are investigated. Children with complex chronic conditions (CCC) face healthcare inequities when accessing pediatric specialty care. Social or economic barriers may exacerbate the challenges faced by families with a child/children with CCC and include increased geographical distance to specialty services, familial poverty, inadequate neighborhood resources, and food insecurity. Understanding how social and economic factors may impact equitable access to care are essential in improving health outcomes for children with CCC.
