The Last Crusade, Jonathan Wong

B.A./B.S. Practicum Group Exhibit (ART 499)

I’m driven by a desire to explore human emotions and how we are influenced by social media. While a useful communication tool, it is also a part of the reason for poor mental health. I am myself an emotional person. Making video and photography helps me to soothe my own anxiety, while working with people who express their own conflict with their current life. Photography and film serve as a vessel for the variations of personal mental health struggles, friendships, and offering a timeless reflection of emotional states. I want my art to be therapy and remembrance that grounds you …

Best Practice Toolkit For Nursing Staff Caring For Ventilated Patients, Erin Belisle

Student Scholarly Projects

PICOT: The PICOT question that guided this project was: In critical care staff such as nurses, respiratory therapists (RT), and critical care providers caring for mechanically ventilated patients (P), what is the effect of implementing a best practice coordination toolkit (I) compared to standard care procedures (C) on the adherence to best practices by critical care providers (O)? …

Enhancing Chemotherapy: Synergistic Action Of Cisplatin And Berberine Hydrochloride Against Osteosarcoma, Adam S. Al-Droubi, Andrea Florian Nov 2024

Enhancing Chemotherapy: Synergistic Action Of Cisplatin And Berberine Hydrochloride Against Osteosarcoma, Adam S. Al-Droubi, Andrea Florian

Science University Research Symposium (SURS)

Osteosarcoma, the most common type of bone cancer, is notably aggressive and prone to a rapid rate of metastasis. When the tumor is localized; the survival rate is approximately 76% and can often be treated with surgery. However, once metastasis occurs, the survival rate drops to 24% and must be treated with chemotherapy. The standard treatment for metastatic osteosarcoma typically involves combination therapeutics, with cisplatin being a key component despite its severe side effects. Unfortunately, osteosarcoma exhibits a natural resistance to chemotherapy driven by the overexpression of drug efflux pumps, DNA repair mechanisms, and apoptosis avoidance mutations. To address these …

Bluebook Vs. Alwd, Joshua Levine Nov 2024

Bluebook Vs. Alwd, Joshua Levine

Library Staff Online Writings

During law school and afterwards, the one citation guide I relied on was The Bluebook. Its rules, explanations, and organization defined how I cited legal resources. Any limitations or gaps in The Bluebook caused me frustration and forced me to get creative, as I figured out solutions that seemed consistent with the rules.

Central Park Five Defamation Suit And Its Implications For Trump, Sarah Weiner Nov 2024

Central Park Five Defamation Suit And Its Implications For Trump, Sarah Weiner

Cardozo Journal of Equal Rights and Social Justice (ERSJ) Blog

Yusef Salaam, Raymond Santana, Kevin Richardson, Antron Brown, and Korey Wise–collectively known as the “Central Park Five” or the “Exonerated Five”–were between the ages of fourteen and sixteen when they were accused and tried for the rape and assault of Trisha Meili in Central Park in 1989.  While they were convicted and served considerable jail time, they maintained their innocence throughout, foregoing potential early release and parole. The Five were exonerated years later when another man, Matias Reyes, confessed and his DNA matched the profile of the true culprit.  Further, much of the police procedure and ensuing media circus surrounding …

The Strong Edge-Coloring Of Graphs, Xiangqian Zhou

Combinatorics Seminar

A proper edge-coloring of a graph G is called a strong edge-coloring if any two edges joined by another edge receive distinct colors. It is clear that in a strong edge-coloring, every color class forms an induced matching. In this talk, we will give a survey on the strong edge-colorings of several classes of sparse graphs, including graphs with small maximum degree, bipartite graphs, and planar graphs.

Staff Education To Improve Medical Adherence Among African American Males With Hypertension, Veronica Ebere Ani Nov 2024

Staff Education To Improve Medical Adherence Among African American Males With Hypertension, Veronica Ebere Ani

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Hypertension (HTN) is the chief cause of cardiovascular disease in the United States. Due to the mortality and morbidity and the increased healthcare costs associated with HTN, nursing staff need to have knowledge to control and help patients manage the condition. HTN disproportionately affects African American men due to non-adherence to medication, lifestyle issues, and health disparities. Nurses can only support patients managing HTN if they have current evidence-based knowledge. Staff knowledge deficit was a significant issue affecting the clinic's management and control of HTN. Providers' knowledge gap was considered a leading factor in patient nonadherence to prescribed antihypertensive medications. …

Exploring Help Seeking Barriers For Military Sexual Trauma Veterans, Clarence Harris Nov 2024

Exploring Help Seeking Barriers For Military Sexual Trauma Veterans, Clarence Harris

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Military sexual trauma (MST) among military personnel has grown and the effects of this sexual trauma vary by individual. One out of three women fail to share their victimization with their providers or wait decades before getting help, despite actions taken by Congress to prevent and address sexual assaults in the military. High prevalence and low reporting continue to exist due to barriers, such as fear of retaliation, not being believed, lack of awareness of available resources, gender-related distress, and disruption of the unit. In this qualitative study, a purposive sampling technique was used to identify 13 survivors of MST …

Part A engages with Roux’s version of the 'Liberal Progressive Narrative' and demonstrates what post-liberal accounts of the Indian constitutional transition offers that differs from the standard narrative as presented by Roux. How Solar Scammers Threaten The Green Energy Movement, Chase Cohen Nov 2024

How Solar Scammers Threaten The Green Energy Movement, Chase Cohen

Cardozo Journal of Equal Rights and Social Justice (ERSJ) Blog

In response to rising energy costs[1] and escalating climate change anxiety, a growing number of Americans are ditching fossil fuels and seeking alternative, clean energy solutions to power their homes.  While this is a positive step towards achieving carbon neutrality, there are associated risks, as some see this newfound demand as an opportunity to manipulate vulnerable consumers.  As a result, bad actors within the clean energy industry exacerbate the problem of climate change by discouraging homeowners from embracing climate-friendly energy solutions due to fears of predatory lending, property damage, and exploitation.
