Mesopotamian Journal of Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare
Early and adequate identification of patients at risk of cardiac arrest remains a fundamental challenge in medical environments. Within this piece of work, we design and evaluate a hybrid machine-learning pipeline integrating Random Forest (RF) and Support Vector Machine (SVM) classifiers by soft voting to detect cardiac arrest occurrences from a publicly available dataset of 303 patient records with 13 clinical features. After median imputation and data cleaning, continuous features were normalized and the cohort was divided into 70 % training and 30 % test sets. Kidney cancer, particularly renal cell carcinoma (RCC), poses significant challenges in early and accurate diagnosis due to the complexity of tumor characteristics in computerized tomography (CT) images. Traditional diagnostic approaches often struggle with variability in data and lack the precision required for effective clinical decision-making. This study aims to develop and evaluate machine learning (ML) models for the accurate classification of kidney cancer using CT images, focusing on improving diagnostic precision and addressing potential challenges of overfitting and dataset heterogeneity. Network function virtualization (NFV) has emerged as a transformative paradigm in which traditional hardware appliances are replaced with virtual network functions (VNFs) running on commodity hardware. While NFV offers scalability and flexibility, it faces major challenges in sustaining high throughput and minimizing resource overhead under dynamic traffic conditions. In particular, flooding algorithm-based request propagation often leads to excessive redundancy, congestion, and resource waste. Early and precise detection of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is essential for successful treatment. This research presents a system that autonomously detects and categorizes the phases of Alzheimer’s disease via brain scans and sophisticated deep learning techniques, including InceptionV3 and ResNet50. These models started with pretrained weights and were augmented by including bespoke classification layers, which consisted of dropout, batch normalization, and dense layers to increase performance and mitigate overfitting. Smartphone authentication systems must balance security and user convenience, which is a persistent challenge in the digital realm. Traditional biometrics, such as fingerprints and facial recognition, face vulnerabilities to spoofing and environmental conditions, limiting reliability. This study introduces a novel approach by integrating three-dimensional (3D) touch sensors with finger location data for authentication. This study aimed to explore graduate-level occupational therapy (OT) and physical therapy (PT) faculty’s perspectives on their academic responsibilities, well-being, and the needs of students following the COVID-19 pandemic. The researchers hypothesized that a decrease in job satisfaction and overall well-being would be evident, indicating burnout syndrome in the faculty participants. A mixed-methods approach was utilized. Potential participants were recruited from websites of graduate-level OT and PT programs via email. Training and education about grief counseling has been stagnant, stalling the creativity and novel practice when working with bereaved individuals. Counselors in Training often receive minimal education and training in grief, even though clients will ultimately experience this phenomenon. Qualitative research findings provide insights into how individuals actively engage in the grieving process, while promoting their own versions of healing and acceptance through the artifacts kept from deceased loved ones. The purpose of this phenomenological descriptive-interpretive study was to understand the lived experience of maintaining attention to one’s responsibilities while grieving among adults diagnosed with ADHD who have recently experienced bereavement in the United States. The population for this study included adults aged 18 and over who had experienced the loss of a loved one in the past 5 years and had a current diagnosis of ADHD. Participants were recruited using a sample of convenience via social media, email, and flyers, employing a snowball sampling technique. The Real-Life Experience (RLE) has been described as a coercive and arbitrary requirement without evidence of validity or reliability. This can cause more harm than it prevents for a significant subset of transition-seeking transgender clients. For these reasons the RLE was dropped from the WPATH Standards of Care after version six. However, the RLE has been adopted by a number of health insurance companies as a measure of readiness to receive transition services. The purpose of this study was to describe the experience of licensed psychologists who provided unexpected feedback to assessment clients about not meeting the criteria for neurodevelopmental disorders. Individuals are increasingly seeking formal evaluation for neurodevelopmental disorders based on anecdotal information they come across on the internet. Many people develop strong identity attachments to these diagnostic labels, and it can be incredibly dysregulating to learn that they do not meet the criteria for a diagnosis. Using a qualitative survey design, this study sought to understand the experiences of fully civilian providers who had achieved self-perceived military cultural competence when working with military or veteran clients or their families. This study also sought a better understanding of what pathways fully civilian providers took in this process, as well as their perceptions of how to better equip other fully civilian providers for work with military and veteran clients and their families. With local assessments showing mathematical achievement below 50% and an increasing need for problem-solving mathematicians, this dissertation investigates instructional methods in math, emphasizing problem-solving skills and fostering mathematical mindsets. The goal was to measure math achievement from the beginning to the end of the year after a Plan, Do, Study, Act cycle at a rural Vermont school serving approximately 600 students from Pre-K through eighth grade. The population in this school is diverse in SES but lacks significant racial and ethnic diversity. This dissertation builds on historical and scientific assertions that Former Soviet Union immigrants survived distinct political traumas, resulting in unique, culturally adaptive behaviors and beliefs. Using constructivist grounded theory, it examined how these behaviors manifest in the evangelical Slavic community (ESC) of former Soviet Union Refugees (FSURs) in the U.S. The researcher asserts that (a) adaptations are generationally preserved in the ESC through a “cycle of authoritarianism,” and (b) survival strategies became maladaptive in new social environments. Narratives from eight young adults raised in the ESC were analyzed alongside a literature review and lived experience. Findings show that coping strategies …

In this study, I examined the impostor phenomenon experienced by bilingual Latina/o doctoral-level psychology students with English as a second language (ESL) who attend predominantly White institutions. To address the lack of literature, I explored how individuals perceive and cope with experiences generated by cultural, linguistic, and racialized academic environments, using the Clance Impostor Phenomenon Scale (CIPS) and interpretative phenomenological analysis. Seven participants completed demographic questionnaires, CIPS screening, and semistructured interviews. I analyzed participants' narratives in an Adlerian framework, emphasizing inferiority, belonging, and purposeful thriving. Findings demonstrated impostor feelings were prevalent. This mixed methods applied dissertation was designed to provide insight into the effects of student motivation and student self-efficacy on academic performance in Advanced Placement (AP) courses. Secondary educational institutions in the United States offer their students Advanced Placement courses, dual enrollment or dual credit courses, International Baccalaureate (IB) courses, and early college programs to encourage and promote the quest for outstanding student attainment. Although many students in the study school enroll in the Academy for Advanced Placement Studies, not all ninth through 12th graders achieve Advanced Placement credit in the Academy’s required courses.

Against the backdrop of an increasingly polarized global landscape and intensifying Sino-American competition, this paper conducts an in-depth analysis of the risk-reward trade-offs inherent in Thailand’s ‘hedging strategy’ during Donald Trump’s first term (2017-2021). Hedging policy occupies a middle ground between “alignment” and ‘balancing’, aiming to diversify risks and maintain flexibility. It constitutes a strategic approach enabling nations to derive benefits from great power competition while preserving avenues for retreat. Through in-depth research, this paper finds that Thailand, as a small power, gained short-term economic benefits through its hedging strategy, such as manufacturing relocation and export growth.
