This study examines how inherited values in classical tales, which have entrenched stereotypes in young readers’ consciousness, are critically interrogated. It traces the metanarrative mechanisms operating in the text and analyzes their role in dismantling and reconstructing such images. The corpus consists of Arwa Dawood Khamees’s duology, A Tea Party at Cinderella’s Palace (2015) and A Cup of Coffee on Treasure Island (2019). Adopting a narratological approach, the study uses metanarrative analysis to examine character models and the movement from dependence on external image toward choice and self-awareness. Despite extensive research, it remains unclear whether elevated resumption acceptance in L2 learners reflects a representational deficit or processing-based strategies, and no study has examined the role of working memory in this distinction for Saudi learners. Inadequate levels of perceived safety on campuses have been reported by college students (e.g., Maffini & Dillard, 2021) and connected to college students' mental health concerns (e.g., sleep disturbances; Etopio et al., 2019). Little is known about student-athletes’ (SA) perceptions of safety, particularly related to their racial and gender identities, and how their perception of safety is related to their mental health. We surveyed 213 SAs regarding their safety perceptions on campus, athletic department, and teams, along with anxiety (GAD-2), depression (PHQ-2), and sleep disturbances (PROMIS-SD). The expansion of digital technologies has not only transformed media production and consumption but also reshaped the cognitive conditions through which individuals interpret information. Drawing on W. James Potter’s (2004) cognitive model of media literacy, this study explores how cognitive dimensions of media literacy relate to digital inequalities among adults. To operationalize the model, index variables were developed for its four subdimensions, knowledge structures, personal locus, competencies, and skills, using multiple theoretically defined item domains.
