The modern workforce is increasingly generationally diverse, with generational cohorts such as Baby Boomers, Generation X, Millennials, and Generation Z differing in their work values and attitudes. Prior research suggests that meaningful work may be experienced differently across generations and that workplace factors, such as pay satisfaction, may influence these differences. However, few studies have examined generational differences in the desire for meaningful work while also considering workplace influences. Here we explore the role of bridging waters and ions in protein-RNA complexes. From an initial set of 33 high-resolution X-ray crystal structures, 17 were identified such that protein-RNA complex and component protein and RNA chains were found within 1 pH unit as indicated by crystallization conditions and their diffraction temperatures meeting one of two ranges: above or below freezing. To define an even more realistic set, 12 unbound-unbound and unbound-pseudo-unbound complexes from the 17-set were studied, showing the large fraction of complexes indicating more protein and RNA water hydrogen bonding in their actual interfacial regions as opposed to those …

This thesis focuses on real-time task execution and object detection for autonomous robots through dataset augmentation. We propose a data augmentation approach to address dataset imbalance in Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models across both image and text modalities during the fine-tuning process. The proposed method takes an image as input and generates a structured textual description using a prompt engineering strategy to augment the textual input. The generated augmented text includes key elements such as the task goal, scene description, reasoning, and execution plan, along with other relevant contextual information. This thesis investigates connections between random matrix theory and low-dimensional quantum gravity through the spectral form factor (SFF), a well-studied function that characterizes correlations in the eigenvalue spectrum of an operator. In random matrix ensembles, a feature of the SFF known as the “ramp” is governed by universal spectral correlations, and in Jackiw–Teitelboim (JT) gravity this regime is due to the double-trumpet wormhole geometry. We study the connected correlation functions underlying the SFF using combinatorial, diagrammatic methods from a mathematical formalism known as second-order free probability theory, where they are expressed in terms of annular noncrossing permutations. Prior research consistently shows that imposter syndrome is associated with a wide variety of negative psychological and work-related outcomes such as stress, burnout, and lower job satisfaction. However, other research suggests that individuals with higher levels of imposter syndrome may engage in compensatory behaviors such as increased effort and discretionary helping for impression management purposes. Additionally, research has found that women tend to report higher levels of imposter syndrome and higher engagement in organizational citizenship behaviors (OCBs) than men, suggesting a gender difference in both variables. Effects of drought can devastate agricultural productivity in the West African Sahel. Climate complexities, such as lower-than-average rainfall and high winds, can lead to crop failure and low yields, thereby creating food security issues. Agriculture in the Sahel is primarily rainfed, and the rain is becoming increasingly unpredictable due to the changing climate. The method of intercropping groundnut (Arachis hypogea) and pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum) with the shrub species Piliostigma reticulatum can combat the effects of climate change and restore degraded soil. A paper by Gilman, Hermiller, Holt and Rees (2011) prove that a group G finitely generated by X is virtually free if and only if the language of geodesics words in G over X is k-strictly local if and only if the word problem is context-free. If M is a monoid finitely generated by X, we define Γu(M,X) to be the underlying, undirected graph of Γ(M,X). We prove that if the language of geodesics in Γu(M,X) based at the identity is k-strictly local, then the monoid and semi-group word problems are context-free.

LLM-based web navigation agents fail on the majority of tasks while consuming substantial computational resources before failure becomes apparent. This thesis investigates whether closed sequential pattern mining on the first K steps of agent execution traces can predict task failure early enough to enable meaningful computational savings with interpretable justification. We develop a two-phase system: an offline pipeline that symbolizes agent traces, extracts K-step prefixes, mines closed patterns via BIDE+, and ranks them by failure precision; and an online detector that matches live executions against the resulting pattern library. Urban open space preserves support both intensive recreation and wildlife, but the information on carnivore activity and visitor perceptions is limited. This study combined camera-trap monitoring and on-site visitor surveys to evaluate activity patterns of medium- to large-bodied mammals and perceptions of coyotes at Windy Hill and Rancho San Antonio Open Space Preserves (South San Francisco Bay Area). From October 2024 to July 2025, thirteen cameras recorded 213,681 photo events; detections were standardized as detections per 1,000 camera-hours. The purpose of the current study was to provide a closer look at the relationship between workplace harassment and negative workplace behavior by investigating the mediating role of revenge cognitions and the moderating role of fear of internal threat, a novel construct that included both formal and informal organizational sanctions. A sample of 103 employees from a variety of occupational backgrounds participated in the study by completing an online survey. Results of the simple mediation analysis showed that workplace harassment was positively related to negative workplace behavior, and revenge cognitions fully mediated this relationship. This research is a modified replication of Salas-Provance et al. (2002) and analyzes the perceptions of speech-language therapy among one Mexican-American family. It investigates opinions about causes of speech-language disorders, for whom speech therapy can be helpful, characteristics and stereotypes about people with hearing and speech disorders, and the influence of education level on such opinions. With the assistance of three family members and two cultural informants, an online survey was developed consisting of demographic factors, Mexican folk and medical beliefs, and potential stereotypes of people with speech, language, and hearing disabilities. Video game voice actors (VGVAs) perform vocally demanding tasks to bring video game characters to life, and are at high risk for voice disorders. This exploratory study aims to characterize vocal health in VGVAs by investigating the relationships between health literacy, health information seeking behavior, and vocal hygiene practices. Thirty-one VGVAs completed an anonymous online survey. Data were analyzed using a mixed-methods approach: quantitative health literacy scores were calculated, and qualitative data underwent inductive thematic analysis in NVivo. Autonomous-driving systems generate large LiDAR point clouds, but compression can damage the sparse object-support structure needed by 3D detectors even when reconstructions appear visually plausible. This thesis asks whether adaptive LiDAR compression can preserve downstream detection better than uniform compression by allocating more fidelity to detector-relevant regions. The main study builds a mask-aware range-image codec with an encoder-decoder bottleneck, an importance head, and an adaptive quantization variant. The steady increase in atmospheric CO2 levels is a key driver of anthropogenic climate change, prompting widespread global concern. In this context, the sustainable conversion of CO2 into value-added chemicals represents an attractive route toward carbon-neutral manufacturing and green chemistry. Here, we developed a proof-of-concept hybrid microbial-enzymatic electrosynthesis system that combines microbial electrosynthesis (MES) and enzymatic electrosynthesis (EES) to convert CO2 into decanoic acid under ambient conditions, using electrical energy. In response to extensive deforestation and land degradation, the Indonesian government has made reforestation one of its top policy priorities. Although several reforestation programs have been implemented, their outcomes have often been constrained by governance-related challenges. This study examines the political dynamics of reforestation in conservation areas by analyzing interactions between two key bureaucracies within the Ministry of Forestry: the Directorate General of Watershed Management and Forest Rehabilitation (DG-WMFR) and the Directorate General of Natural Resources and Ecosystem Conservation (DG-NREC). Application Of Machine Learning For Correcting Defect-Induced Neuromorphic Circuit Inference Errors, Vedant V. Sawal, Hiu Yung Wong

This paper presents a machine learning-based approach to correct inference errors caused by stuck-at faults in fully analog ReRAM-based neuromorphic circuits. Using a Design-Technology Co-Optimization (DTCO) simulation framework, the study models and analyzes six spatial defect types - circular, circular-complement, ring, row, column, and checkerboard - across multiple layers of a multi-array neuromorphic architecture for handwritten digit recognition tasks. It is demonstrated that the proposed correction method, which employs a lightweight neural network trained on the circuit's 10 output voltages, can improve inference accuracy from 55% to 90% (+ 35 percentage points) in highly degraded defective scenarios.
