The wide range of emission wavelengths possible makes these devices ideal candidates for a wide range of applications. Nickel-aluminum bronze (NAB) is widely used for maritime components but is traditionally limited to casting due to its complex microstructure. Fine β′ phase formation in NAB is governed by the solid-state transformation of the high-temperature β phase during cooling. This ordered martensitic β′ forms via diffusionless transformation, contributing to brittleness. Conventional metal additive manufacturing (AM) techniques, such as Laser Powder Bed Fusion and Directed Energy Deposition, experience high in-process cooling rates that promote fine β′ formation, compromising mechanical performance. Population Health Research Brief Series

Prescription medication misuse is a long-term population health problem in the United States. This data slice uses data from the National Wellbeing Survey (N=32,789, 2021–2025) of U.S. adults ages 18–64 to examine how the number of chronic health conditions a person has is related to their misuse of prescription opioids, tranquilizers, sedatives, or stimulants in the past 12 months. The authors find a dose-response pattern: misuse rises from 2.8% among those with no chronic conditions to 11.7% among those with three or more conditions. Mental health conditions show stronger associations with misuse than physical health conditions.

More recently, however, the contribution of exogenous risk factors such as environmental contaminants has become of interest. Some endogenous genetic risk factors have been well characterized, but the mechanisms by which exogenous insults, such as environmental contaminants, drive dopaminergic neurodegeneration remain incompletely understood. Materials and methods: Included in this retrospective study were 65 BD patients whose interventions and clinical courses were accessed from medical records. Background/aim: Parenteral feeding is used in critically ill patients when enteral nutrition is inadequate or intolerable, and the gastrointestinal tract is not functioning properly. Lipid emulsions play a major role in parenteral nutrition because they supply necessary fatty acids and a high-calorie density. We investigated the effects of parenteral lipid emulsions on mesenteric perfusion, inflammation-induced oxidation, and organ damage in lipopolysaccharide-induced mice endotoxemia model.

Bird populations across North America are in decline. In sagebrush and other shrubsteppe habitats, habitat loss and other human pressures threaten bird communities. Our study assessed the status of a bird community at the Morley Nelson Snake River Birds of Prey National Conservation Area, a high desert site in southwestern Idaho, USA. Between 29 May and 14 June 2022, and 31 May and 19 June 2023, we conducted avian point count surveys at historical points that were surveyed two or more years from 1992–1995.
