Hilsa, Tenualosa ilisha (Hamilton, 1822), is one of the favourite and popular tropical fish in the people of South-East Asia due to its delicious taste and flavour. This study investigates the comprehensive amino acid profiles of various fishing locations of Bangladesh to assess the protein quality and nutritional values. Fourteen free amino acids were identified from the six riverine locations of Bangladesh. The total free amino acid (TAA) contents were ranged from 11.60 g/100 g in Cox's Bazar to 13,40 g/100 g in Kirtonkhola for raw fish. Petroleum ports represent critical infrastructure in global energy supply chains, where operational risks during ship-to-shore transfer operations can lead to catastrophic consequences including environmental damage and human casualties. Despite rigorous safety protocols, these facilities remain vulnerable to operational hazards in dynamic maritime environments. This research aimed to develop and apply a hybrid Fuzzy Rule-Based Bayesian Reasoning (FRBBR) model to identify, evaluate, and prioritize operational hazards during crude oil transfer operations at petroleum port berths, with a case study conducted in Saudi Arabia, addressing the challenge of risk assessment where historical data is limited.

Corals exist as meta-organisms, closely interacting with a diverse microbiota including bacteria, archaea, microeukaryotes, viruses, and algal symbionts. Understanding these intricate relationships is critical for assessing coral health, stress responses, and resilience to environmental change. This study aimed to explore the potential of using magnetic treated water (MTW) to increase stocking densities of growing Nile tilapia, Oreochromis niloticus, in storage, productive, and/or rearing holding facilities with limited mortality and water loss. The experimental period was 12 weeks, with 1500 O. niloticus fingerlings acclimated with maintained water parameters. After acclimation, 1350 were randomly selected and used for experiment setting up, including its triplicates. Petroleum hydrocarbons and heavy elements (cobalt (Co), zinc (Zn), lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), and chromium (Cr)) in the waters of this area were analyzed. The current study sought to examine the coastal geomorphology throughout the entire length of the Al-Kharrar Lagoon, in addition to the coastal region of Rabigh City, situated on the western coast of Saudi Arabia. The mechanisms underlying the formation of the wide variety of natural land features were also studied. Two stations with different reef shape and depth, Bayada and Abotair islands located off Jeddah coast on the Saudi Arabian Red Sea were studied. This study evaluates the effectiveness of deep learning and machine learning models for classifying seabed images into three ecologically significant categories: algae, rocks, and sand. We investigated five models: ResNet50, VGG16, a custom-designed convolutional neural network (CNN), support vector machines (SVM), and random forests (RF). Deep learning models were fine-tuned on 1259 seabed images, with the custom CNN architecture optimized using depthwise separable convolutions and global average pooling. For SVM and RF, features were extracted using a pre-trained VGG16 network. Class weighting was applied to address potential imbalances in the dataset. Concealed History Of Microplastic Pollution In The Msimbazi Estuary, Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, Dativa J. Shilla

This study reconstructed the historical deposition of microplastics in sediments of the Msimbazi Estuary, Tanzania, using a radiometrically dated sediment core. Sediment chronology established using ²¹⁰Pb and the Constant Initial Concentration (CIC) model provided an approximately 83-year depositional record. The ²¹⁰Pb age model suggested marked temporal variability in sedimentation rates, with peaks around 1961, 1998, 2013, and 2015, potentially reflecting hydrological extremes and catchment disturbances. Anthropogenic microparticles were detected throughout most of the sediment core, with concentrations ranging from below detection limit (BDL) to 34 items kg⁻¹ dry weight (mean 8.5 ± 3.2 items kg⁻¹), and their abundance generally increased …

Plant leaf meals have the potential to replace fishmeal in fish feed formulation, hence reducing its cost and increasing fish production. This study evaluated the effects of plant leaf meals (PLMs) on haematological parameters in Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). Cryopreservation of goat semen is an essential tool for genetic improvement, germplasm conservation, and the expansion of artificial insemination programs in caprine breeding. However, buck spermatozoa are highly susceptible to cryo-induced oxidative stress due to their membrane composition rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids. Excessive generation of reactive oxygen species during semen processing, freezing, and thawing compromises sperm motility, viability, membrane integrity, mitochondrial function, and DNA stability, ultimately reducing post-thaw fertilizing potential. Medicinal plants provide a safe and efficient source of drugs for cancer treatment. Berberis aristata and Senna alexandrina are traditionally used to treat several ailments because they contain compounds with antimicrobial, antitoxic, anti-inflammatory, and other properties. The objective of the study was to prepare crude ethanolic extracts of B. aristata and S. alexandrina and to determine their cytotoxic potential against cancer cells. Ethanolic extracts were prepared for both plants. Hepatocellular carcinoma cells (HepG2) were used for all assays. In the current study, tamoxifen (TAM) and paclitaxel (PTX) loaded chitosan nanoparticles (NPs) were produced for the evaluation of sustained drug delivery and enhanced anticancer potential of nanocarriers over conventional chemotherapy against breast and lung cancers, respectively. Background: Bovine babesiosis is a protozoan disease that is transmitted by ticks and has significant veterinary and economic impacts on tropical livestock systems. Prior to this study, no epidemiological data was available of Sindh, Pakistan.

Purpose: To estimate the Babesia spp. prevalence and estimate the risk factors with respect to cattle and buffaloes in five tehsils of District Naushahro Feroze, Sindh, Pakistan.

Human health may be at risk if drinking water contains excessive amounts of heavy metals (HMs). To determine risks related to heavy metals, fifteen water samples were taken every month between July and September, 2024 from the communities of Abobo (Site A), Osara (Site B) and Osaragada (Site C) close to Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara. Microplastics have become widely dispersed in our environment, and even in the air we breathe. The present research aims at identifying and determining the amounts of microplastics present in atmospheric fallout over Lahore city, which is characterized by a large population and several manufacturing industries. In order to find out the existence of microplastics, samples of atmospheric fallout were collected from various sites across hustling municipalities of Lahore that included urbanized settlements. The wild animals that occupy large territories were found to adapt less easily to captive environments compared to those with small home ranges. Among big cats, captivity posed a range of challenges, with stress emerging as central factor influencing overall welfare. Transition into captive environment was shown to alter both behavior and physiological processes, largely due to changes in their natural habitat, environmental complexity and diet. Mangroves provide coastal communities with a multitude of ecosystem services. This is the case in Joal-Fadiouth. A study on its mangrove dynamics revealed a decline in area between 1974 and 2004, followed by a gradual trend after it acquired Marine Protected Area (MPA) status in 2004. Given the importance of this mangrove, the research focused on analyzing its evolution associated with rainfall and temperature variability. A study was carried out to examine the economic performance of small-scale vegetable farmers and how effectively they are using their resources in Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State. The study involved eighty vegetable farmers who were chosen randomly, and information was gathered from them using structured questionnaires. Different tools such as budget analysis, linear regression, frequency distribution, percentages, and the stochastic frontier production function were used to examine the data that was collected. Crude distillation units are among the most energy-intensive systems in petroleum refineries because crude oil must be heated to the required atmospheric-column inlet temperature before fractionation. Although conventional heat-integration analysis quantifies heat recovery, it does not identify the degradation of energy quality caused by finite-temperature heat transfer and combustion irreversibility. This paper presents an exergy-based scenario analysis of the crude preheat-train heat exchanger network (HEN) and fired heater in an industrial crude distillation unit at Azzawiya Oil Refining Company (ARC), Libya.
