Adaptation And Discovery In The Ethiopian Highlands: Testing Rules, Cryptic Shrews, And Patterns Of Montane Mammal Diversity, Evan W. Craig

Montane landscapes of the Horn of Africa harbor exceptional but incompletely documented biodiversity. Focusing on rodents and shrews—the dominant but least studied of Ethiopia’s high-elevation fauna—this dissertation integrates repeat faunal surveys, genomic taxonomy, and phylogenetically informed modelling to clarify how small mammals distribute, diversify, and morphologically adapt across steep elevational gradients.

A century‐scale resurvey of Simien Mountains National Park (1927-2015) revealed significant upward range shifts for multiple species and a persistent mid-elevation richness peak, implicating warming temperatures as a driver of community reassembly. Nursing Leadership in Community Engagement Projects

In Washington State, around 18.5% of individuals aged 12 and older, about 1.4 million people, struggle with substance use each year (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, 2023). Many also face housing instability and limited access to basic health needs like clean drinking water. Our agency supports Seattle residents in recovery, and during our initial assessment, we identified inadequate hydration as a common concern. As a team of seven nursing students, we developed a community health project to improve self-reported hydration among this population. The brain is an intricate network of neurons that communicate via synapses. Synaptic plasticity, which is the ability to strengthen or weaken synaptic connections, plays a key role in learning, memory, and reward learning. Disruptions to synaptic plasticity play a central role in addiction, particularly in brain circuits involved in reward and motivation. The mesolimbic reward system, which includes the ventral tegmental area (VTA) and its dopaminergic projections, is a primary target of drugs of abuse, including opioids and cannabinoids. Port Site Metastasis After Robotic Assisted Laparoscopic Radical Prostatectomy: Diagnosis Via Prostate-Specific Membrane Antigen (Psma)-Targeted 18f-Dcfpyl Pet/Ct, Joon Yau Leong, Maria D'Amico, Courtney Capella, Leonard Gomella, Joseph Izes

We present a case of port site metastasis (PSM) that was identified in an 82-year-old man with an elevated prostate-specific antigen (PSA) to 3.9 ng/mL, concerning for biochemical recurrence after robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy, adjuvant radiation, and six months of androgen deprivation therapy with an undetectable PSA post-treatment over 10 years ago. A 2.1 cm solitary tracer avid nodule on the right lateral abdominal wall with no other evidence of recurrence or metastatic disease was found on prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA)–targeted ¹⁸F-DCFPyL PET/CT scan. The patient underwent local excision of this metastatic lesion, and final pathology revealed metastatic prostatic adenocarcinoma.

My manuscript of poems, called "Bellyache," speaks to my experience with endometriosis and how it intersects with both womanhood, and the pain we inherit from our ancestors that becomes stored in our bodies over time. This project gave me the permission to write poems that grapple with both escaping and recreating what it’s like to be a woman inside the medical system which continues to equate pain with hysteria, and inside a world that either says you’re sick, or you aren’t.

The purpose of this research was to show how and why businesses rely on reputational currency as a resource when conducting business and how that reputation can be affected. The first part of the study was conducted using peer-reviewed articles, public-facing, and managerial articles from credible online sources. Funds of Knowledge (FOK) refer to the skills, assets, and resources that a learner draws from their environments and applies to their learning experiences. The FOK construct has in common with cultural capital and community cultural wealth a focus on the importance of the overlapping contexts in which learning takes place. For this qualitative study, the overlapping contexts for learners often include conflicts, adversity, and unique challenges. Aortic stenosis (AS) is one of the most common types of valvular heart disease in older adults, with age being significantly associated with the development of AS. The transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) procedure, since it was first performed in 2002, has emerged as a preferred treatment option for patients who are at intermediate to high surgical risk due to advanced age or medical comorbidities. Older adults with severe AS may present with acute decompensated heart failure leading to cardiogenic shock (CS). Among patients 65 years and older with AS presenting for TAVR, 4.1% were reportedly in acute CS. Regardless …

The duties core to the professional identity of a judge are encapsulated in an ethical directive at the literal forefront of the Model Code of Judicial Conduct, some variation of which all state and federal judiciaries have adopted. Rule 1.2 provides that “[a] judge shall act at all times in a manner that promotes public confidence in the independence, integrity, and impartiality of the judiciary[.]” This directive implicates three challenges, or pressure points, relevant to a judge’s identity: 1) insofar as judges begin their legal careers as practicing lawyers, when they ascend the bench their professional identities must transition from …

Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is prevalent and can be highly complex. Guidance for the treatment of PTSD has typically been based on quantitative meta-analyses of randomized controlled trial findings and has focused on the comparative efficacy of specific treatments, rather than how to deliver treatment. There is a need for clinical guidance that highlights moment-to-moment, in-session psychotherapy processes for psychotherapists working with clients with PTSD.
