Asphaltenes are complex polycyclic organic molecules in crude oil that readily aggregate and precipitate under varying thermodynamic conditions. Their structural heterogeneity influences key physicochemical properties, including solubility, stability, and reactivity. Molecular polarizability, a crucial property governing intermolecular interactions and electronic behavior, remains challenging to predict due to this structural diversity. This study employs machine learning models to predict isotropic polarizability using two sets of molecular descriptors: WHIM and GETAWAY. A dataset of 255 asphaltene structures was analyzed using stratified sampling, generating 10 independent training (80 %) and testing (20 %) splits. “Grades are an essential currency of our schools. Schools, colleges and employers use grades to determine many important, and in some cases, life-altering decisions-college admission, financial aid and scholarships, athletic eligibility, promotion, retention, awards, and supports” (Feldman, 2018, p. 3). Grading is not addressed in teacher preparation programs, or within professional development during teachers’ careers; teachers have chosen their own way to grade guided by their own personal experiences, uninformed of research or best practice. Conduct-As-Status In Skrmetti's Gender-Affirming Care Bans, Robert Blake Watson, Neha Srinivasan

With its decision in United States v. Skrmetti, the Supreme Court has permitted government prohibitions on gender-affirming care for certain transgender individuals. Although these bans construe themselves as barring medical procedures in neutral, conduct-based terms, we contend that the laws discriminate on the basis of transgender status and sex. Drawing from equal protection jurisprudence—including decisions in Lawrence v. Texas, United States v. Windsor, and Obergefell v. Hodges—we contextualize the gender-affirming care bans within the Court’s history of rejecting efforts to mask status-based discrimination through ostensibly neutral restrictions on conduct. By underscoring that both cisgender and transgender individuals seek gender-affirming interventions, …

This study included a statewide survey of over 150 high school humanities teachers in Massachusetts to gather data on how Asian American studies is being included in the curricula and to learn how prepared the educators feel to teach Asian American studies content. Expanding on the survey are case studies of five Massachusetts Asian American studies teachers and their approaches to teaching Asian American studies.
The study was conducted to provide evidence-based findings to inform teacher education, education policy, and research about best practices for Asian American Studies in humanities classrooms. Three recommendations revolve around increased opportunities for teacher preparation …

Air quality forecasting is crucial for public health, especially in rural, suburban, and developing areas lacking reliable monitoring data. Hybrid monitoring (surface, satellite, and models) offers a scalable, cost‐ effective solution for tracking pollution and trends. This work presents a machine learning model that integrates ground measurements with global model outputs assimilating satellite observations to forecast air quality. Ground measurements of fine particulate matter (PM2.5) from over 60 U.S. embassies and consulates were used to calibrate global model outputs for local air quality forecasting. The standard American grading system recognizes an A as the best possible grade, while an F represents failure. To achieve an A, the typical benchmark is anywhere above 90%. This senior project details the improvements made to Cal Poly’s Hybrid AC/DC House project. The previous state of the house experienced issues with proper reading of the current power being drawn from the connected AC sources, as well as with the system’s multiple-input single-output converter, where thermal overheating of specific FETs prevented the system from reaching its maximum output power. Energy demands have been on the rise, as environmentally harmful power generation systems stay popular due to lower costs and compact designs compared to renewable energy infrastructure. We challenge this problem with a modular photovoltaic microgrid system for power generation in underutilized spaces. The Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) charge controller employed is low-cost and power efficient. This controller monitors energy generation and usage in real time, with data logging through an online user-friendly interface. This project presents the design and construction of a battery charging system powered by a wind energy emulator. An adjustable-speed DC motor drive coupled to a DC generator was used to imitate a wind turbine rotating at different speeds, supplying a variable DC voltage to a custom PCB with an LTC4020, a four-switch buck-boost converter and battery charger. The converter steps up or down the input voltage, ranging from 12 to 24 volts, to safely charge a lithium-ion battery using a constant current constant voltage charging cycle (CC/CV). This report presents the preliminary design for a distributed localization framework for a multi-robot system. Many robotics research papers provide simulations of proposed algorithms in regards to formation control and task allocation. However, it is often that these proposals are without hardware experiments, being limited only to simulation. The objective of this framework is to provide a hardware implementation of a distributed Kalman filtering algorithm for multi-agent localization, as well as provide grounds for future multi-agent experiments. Increasing labor costs and agricultural demands have created a need for automated apple harvesting. However, automated apple harvesting via robotic manipulation must overcome certain challenges to be an effective and efficient method. First, the system must compete with or perform better than manual human labor. Second, it must safely and accurately navigate an apple orchard autonomously. Cap management during alcoholic fermentation of red wines plays a critical role in modulating the phenolic and volatile extraction from grape solids, influencing the homogenization of chemical and temperature gradients, while imparting oxygen to the must.
