Unveiling Degradation Patterns In Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells: A Machine Learning Perspective, Ahmed Alali, Mahmoud Ashraf, Ahmad Muhammad, Sameh O. Abdellatif

This study examines the time-dependent degradation of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) by systematically investigating several critical parameters, including TiO2 thickness, porosity, dye concentration, and iodine-based electrolyte concentration. We developed a novel figure of merit (FOM) to quantify the degradation rates, utilizing a finite element model (FEM) in COMSOL to simulate performance over time. 400 DSSC samples were fabricated, resulting in a comprehensive dataset comprising over 228,000 data points derived from experimental results and simulations. The findings reveal that PCE declines significantly over time, with an average initial efficiency of 4.0% for the DSSCs, dropping to approximately 0.5% after 360 h. …

Urban planning's history of bureaucratic expertise continues to champion the powerful, resulting in structures and procedures that still separate and damage city communities. This research challenges the current hegemony of urban planning that centers geography--the container of land--in its practice. Instead, centering the belonging of people to each other is the essential quality of healthy urban planning. A people-centered urban planning practice where the community's people are the experts and decision-makers of their own cities--and belonging is the primary objective--is long overdue.

The current study explores the effects of self-monitoring on teachers' use of behavior-specific praise (BSP) and its impact on student behavior in a center-based classroom. Self-monitoring, a cost-effective and time-efficient intervention, has been proven effective in previous research for enhancing educator performance. The increasing frequency and complexity of data breaches present critical challenges for cybersecurity managers responsible for protecting organizational assets. This qualitative phenomenological study examined how information technology (IT) managers conceptualize, strategize, and apply best practices to prevent breaches in complex environments. Unmanaged risks can compromise sensitive systems, disrupt operations, and erode stakeholder trust. Neural spike trains are shaped by both extrinsic inputs and intrinsic structural constraints. While prior work has focused on how spike timing encodes externally driven variables, such as stimuli or behavior, this dissertation explores whether principles that organize neural activity in space and time—such as genetic cell type, anatomical location, and arousal state—are also embedded in the spiking output of individual neurons. I hypothesize that these organizing principles are not quenched as irrelevant variability, but rather multiplexed within the neural code itself. Web scraping, a technique for collecting publicly available online data, may facilitate collecting school meal data from large, national samples of school districts in a timely, cost-effective manner. We explore its potential by examining the variation in sodium content of 2 popular entrees served through the US Department of Agriculture’s National School Lunch Program—pizza and chicken nuggets. Daily school menu data were obtained from a national sample of school districts via web scraping. Counselors report a lack of competence in working with transgender and gender expansive (TGE) individuals. TGE people report a lack of competent and affirming care. This study used the Gender Identity Counselor Competency Scale- Revised (GICCS-R) to understand self-reported competence and training levels in working with this population. Participants were 90 masters-level counselors in training who had at least started practicum in CACREP-accredited programs. Hierarchical linear regression was utilized to determine factors that predict competence including identities and training levels. Results highlight a lack of perceived competence in skill-based training. Counselor education programs must focus on improving TGE affirmative skills.

Background: Wildfires and consequent postfire hazards, specifically runoff-generated debris flows, are a major threat to California communities. Aim: To help prefire planning efforts across California, we identified areas that are most susceptible to postfire debris flows before fire occurs. Methods: We developed a calibration method for an established model that relates existing vegetation type to fire severity, a critical input to the US Geological Survey’s postfire debris-flow likelihood model. We calibrated the model for eight regions with data from 81 wildfires that occurred in 2020 and 2021 in California. Remote training methods that can be implemented without face-to-face contact allow for behavior analytic services to reach areas without local BCBAs to provide services. One such method with promise for remote application is behavioral skills training (BST). BST consists of instructions, modeling, rehearsal, and feedback.
